If the game is good or not depends on your perspective and on what you were expecting from it. I was expecting an interactive storytelling game with some few simple puzzles and this is exactly what I got.

The aspects of Lifeless Planet that succeed elevate it past the technical shortcomings, but only so far. You will find a compelling world and a story worth experiencing, but you do so at the expense of well-polished animation and gameplay that hinders the overall experience.

Lifeless Planet is a really fun experience, but not a very good game. I’d still recommend it based on the entertainment I got from exploring the mysteries of the game’s world, but I wish I didn’t have to deal with questionable puzzles and mechanics to do so.

There's a great idea in here somewhere, but it's hard to find it when it's buried under so much space dust. [Oct 2014, p.80]

We should have known: the planet we need to explore in this short and dull adventure, is unequivocally lifeless.

The basic idea behind the game is interesting, but after a while it becomes a monotonous, bland walkabout that is heavily plagued with graphical and gameplay bugs.

The game's environments have the appearance of a 3D sandbox but you quickly discover how linear they are. From time to time you'll find a dead-end path with a gameplay-irrelevant collectible doodad perched at the end of it, but the environments offer little of interest outside of the straight-line path to the next platforming segment.

If you are looking for a work of art, one that can instill awe and wonder at what it may be like to be isolated on another planet - then you have come to the right place. It is a shame the combat gamers are voting on this title, as it really has nothing to do with their genre or interests.

If you enjoy long walks in natural environments - then this title is as close as you will get to enjoying the same experience on another world. Similar to other titles in this genre (Dear Esther), this is a work of contemplation. Destined to be a classic.

By far the most disgusting animation in the game, that aside this is a very attractive and interesting game. It is appropriately difficult at times and offers some interesting ideas and story. I really enjoyed the voice acting and the landscape was really well done. Although the engines graphics wasn't "realistic" I found that despite this fact the game was gorgeous and atmospheric. There were times where there was no ambient music which damaged the score also.

The game handled well the controls were very responsive, sometimes almost too responsive. The story ends a little vague but I felt like I was on a good journey with some story. Worth the money and the time. Love it for what it was.

Probably it's not so involving because of direct scenario but anyway its story is very entertaining. It's not complicated for heavy-quest lovers, don't expect knot-like puzzles as most of them require pretty direct thinking.
Anyway, it's a great game, 8 of 10 is my rate

They managed to create very beautiful scenes if the graphic engine is not up-to-date. The story is quite interesting, but spaced out too much with long moments without new events. The platforming gameplay is ok. A game to try, but not pay full price. Expand

It is NOT an action/adventure story-driven game. Yeah, there's a story, and it had potential, but you'll literally spend the entire game jumping to and from various rocks and mounds. It's a five-hour-long platformer with beige mountains and valleys as scenery. The "puzzles" are nothing more than placing a glowing green rock in a glowing green hole followed by a lot of jogging, or simply more platforming. Honestly, the game would've been better if it was a condensed version that focused more on the story, rather than the endless miles of jogging and jumping. It has the contents to make a good thirty-minute game, but it was dragged out, made long and boring. Also, expect the data logs and entries, along with whatever scientific samples you collect, to be wiped whenever you quit the game. Not that they matter, really. Expand

there is only 3 mechanics: walk, jump, force rock. With it you must play very long time and solve lot of boring tasks, which are same
