Feb 18, 2014Loadout is one of the titles that can overcome the widespread skepticism towards the Free to play games: funny, hilarious and with a deep customization system of equipment, it can be enjoyed without spending money.
-
Feb 10, 2014Loadout is throwaway, silly entertainment. It gets you into a game, raises a smile, and spits you back out again. It’s scrappy, with a few rough edges in the level design and art. But it’s endearingly dumb, and I really think you should, at least, have a try.
-
Feb 10, 2014Loadout is the type of game that you honestly can’t believe you’re getting for free. The amount of fun you’ll have, the amount of customisable options and features on offer, will leave you with an experience that most wouldn’t mind paying for at all.
-
Feb 9, 2014A surprisingly well crafted multiplayer shooter full of options, amusing cartoon violence, and rock solid action. That Loadout does all this, and provides a respectably balanced free-to-play ecosystem, is encouraging to see.
-
Jan 31, 2014Although the game modes may not be innovative, innovation doesn’t always spell fun, and that’s something Loadout has by the explosive crate-full.
-
Feb 20, 2014Loadout’s gun customization and well executed twists on shooter staples make it a free-to-play game that doesn't feel like a compromise.
-
Feb 17, 2014Great playability. Great technical finish. Guaranteed action, addiction and laughs. And all for free, hard to say no to this pack.
-
Feb 10, 2014With its visual style evocative of the Warner Bros. cartoons and its frantic gameplay, Loadout is a nice free-to-play shooter offer.
-
games(TM)Mar 12, 2014Even without the new weapon parts, characters and maps that will be joining the roster, it's a worthy side-dish to whatever passes for your multiplayer main course. [Issue#145, p.121]
-
Feb 11, 2014It's crude and blunt, and its name may not turn many heads, but underneath its blood-soaked surface lies immense potential. It is also free-to-play, so there's no reason not to leap in and bask in the chaotic frenzy with your personally crafted weapon in hand.
-
Feb 7, 2014There are many good ideas here that fit very well into the gameplay. It might not be too original, but it's fun and well-balanced. It still has some aspects to polish, but seams like a good start.
-
Feb 7, 2014The focus on unique weaponry and customization at the moment provides Loadout with a degree of compulsive appeal. But without Annihilation mode, it's debatable whether there is any long-term depth on offer here.
-
Feb 4, 2014A solid fast fun shooter that could blossom over time and it's free so it's definitely worth taking it for a spin and experimenting with the weapons.
-
Feb 6, 2014The matchmaking system is straight-up broken, leading to frequent frustrating mismatches, and its four maps aren’t enough to keep me around for long.
-
Feb 4, 2014When it works, Loadout hooks you in with its deep weapon-crafting system and frantic battles where everyone is trying out their own crazy creations. And to its credit, Edge of Reality has shown incredible resilience in responding to the server problems so quickly. But Loadout isn’t worth playing until it solves them.
-
Feb 18, 2014As a shooter, Loadout has a lot to recommend it. It’s fast, fluid, gratifying, varied, slick, and largely unsullied by its free-to-play business model. In other words, no, this isn’t Team Fortress. And, frankly, it doesn’t need to be.
-
Feb 3, 2014Ultimately, great controls and some occasional laughs aren’t enough to stop Loadout from being an average game and one that doesn’t deserve your time. However, it does have one positive effect and that is, it makes you want to play UT2K4 again and that my friends, is never a bad thing.
