This game works very badly on PS5 and PC. Even at 60fps, the feeling is that the game is not fluid. There are micro stuttering when moving the camera. Please do not launch games in this state.

There is an interesting gameplay mechanic at the core of Maquette, though it's executed rather poorly. The challenge as a player is to get the maximum enjoyment out of this interesting mechanic while tuning out the narrative as much as possible. The voice talent makes a valiant effort to breathe some life into the script, but there's just nothing there. What we're left to experience is something like a very sweaty, uneventful scene at an amateur improv theater. Except in the case of Maquette, we must live with the knowledge that this is a fully scripted disaster. I mean this without exaggeration: it is not possible to create gameplay sufficiently enjoyable to counterbalance Maqeutte's voiceover scenes in which two flat characters quip tritely as a coloring book picture slowly fills in like a loading screen from the pits of hell. This is a game which would well and truly benefit from a complete excising of its narrative. Expand

This is the biggest waste of time I played all year. Your movement speed is so insanely slow I just jumped everywhere to get it over faster and the game requires you to run multiple laps around the map while you're shrunk down and move even slower.
Should've been just a walking sim, the art style is nice, the story is ok, but the gameplay is a chore.

Maquette is the century's least-interesting love story told through a very, very rough-around-the-edges puzzle game. I would only recommend this game to someone who is trapped on a desert island (and needs to work up the courage to kill themselves).

It almost feels like punching down to frankly appraise Maquette's merits. There is something interesting in the gameplay, but the game design is incredibly rough and the story is pure, unadulterated dead weight.

It’s got an interesting gameplay construct and some gorgeously animated locations to explore, but some clumsy moments with controls and unclear leaps of puzzle logic mean that Maquette’s tale of whirlwind romance only flutters rather than flies.

Maquette is a beautiful puzzle game with a catchy soundtrack that really sets the chill yet heart-breaking vibe of the game. The way it messes around with space and depth keeps things fresh throughout and the game looks damn fine, making it an overall positive experience. However, it had an opportunity to make much stronger links between its puzzle world and its narrative world and it saddens me that this didn’t occur.

For anyone who has ever fallen in love or suffered heartbreak, Maquette will resonate. Yes, some puzzles were weaker than others, but those issues felt secondary to the masterful tapestry being painted before my eyes. Maquette is a poignant and rewarding experience that reminded me of some of my happiest moments, it forced me to stare straight at sorrow, and simultaneously reassured me that it’s okay to feel that pain.
