  1. It's a high quality product that blends tactics, strategy and management into an accessible and playable game -- just watch out for the appearance of any latent megalomaniac tendencies.

Great game, but a bit off from perfect. One of the things that irks me most is the race creation options. Getting to choose from only 4 similar governments is not enough.
  3. Master of Orion 2 is just INTENSE! I absolutely loved this game and if you liked the original Master of Orion I think you will too.

A great update of a classic game, even with the micromanaging. [Mar 1997, p.134]
  5. One of the coolest features in Master of Orion 2 is the ability to do research. There are over 200 different technologies that you can acquire by the use of scientists in your empire. You get to choose many different technologies to research at any point and time.
  6. While an excellent game, it just lacks that particular oomph the original had. Perhaps, being a sequel, it couldn't have the same impact as being something completely new.
  7. There is so much to do in this game that if you like space opera strategy, you’ll have to have it... One of the better strategy games of 1996, but one with significant flaws. Good, yes; a classic, no.

An Excellent Game in its time. I've played this game hundreds of times.
Someone needs to remake it as close to the original as possible, so, that the newer generations can try it. Occasionally, I can still get it to work on my Vista machine. Too complicated for most to find and use the DOS version and setup for curent internet use.

One of the All time space strategy classics. More fun than MOO 3. I still play the game and have been on and off since 96.

Good game - still play it occasionally - not bad for a 8 year old game.

Excellent 4X strategy game. Deep, customizable and intense. Would be a 10, except that as you increase your planet and population count, the Excellent 4X strategy game. Deep, customizable and intense. Would be a 10, except that as you increase your planet and population count, the micro-managing gets almost tedius. The built in AI designed to keep the micro-management level down is not reliable enough to trust, so you end up doing it all yourself. Expand
