Mirror’s Edge Catalyst feels better in many aspects and delivers much more content than its predecessor. It still has some issues like the combat system or frustrating climbing areas, but it is still an impressive argument for its unique and fresh concept.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a solid reboot of the original game, with improved mechanics and a rich sandbox.

Catalyst is not a flawless reboot, but it remains a very deep experience, filled with well-designed quests and interesting secondary activities; most of all, the game takes advantage of the environment in a clever way, making it strongly interactive for the players.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is an exceptional sandbox. There’s nothing in the entire medium that feels quite as unique as being able to sprint, duck, and dive towards the horizon, making the most of the many varied paths on offer in this superbly sculpted playground. But when the game tries to be more than that, it begins to fall apart. Catalyst is certainly a step forward for Mirror’s Edge, but not the leap that it could be. If this is the return of Faith on a regular basis though, DICE have created the foundations for a very strong sequel indeed.

DICE might have done its best to hide a quality game, but it’s still there beneath the piles of filler.

The impression that Mirror's Edge Catalyst leaves is like a person with bones full of calcium, covered with weak flesh. A better implementation of story, characters, mission design and combat system should be the first priorities on a future sequel.

Catalyst is a triumph of form over substance. At first the city looks huge, shiny and perfect but soon turns out to be just a lifeless, empty mockup, where you distinguish the districts mainly by background colors. The character development system feels artificial and redundant. The story and characters are so shallow and badly presented that I quickly lost any interest in them and focused on what the game does quite well – on parkour. [08/2016, p.60]

The graphics look much better with hyper graphics, just turn off the runner vision and this game is way better than what most people played on the beta. The only bad points is the AI, and the drug adict arquitecture style of the city has. Expand

It seems like everyone is complaining about running too much in a parkour game... uhm , duh? What did you expect to do? You're a RUNNER. it's what your supposed to do. Catalyst is a massive improvement from the original and if you think time trials are too difficult then you should probably quit gaming. My only complaint is that the story it's a little too short but other than that, I liked everything about this game. And it's a shame that they will probably never make a sequel because of all the stupid people who didn't even bother to finish the story before writing these so called "reviews", ruining the reputation of a game that didn't deserved so much hate.

As you begin the game, the protagonist Faith Connor, has absolutely no unlocked skills/attributes and all are unlocked throughout the game, whereas in the first game, she has every skill/attribute without needing further upgrades throughout the game.

Dice removed the ability for players to pick up and equip weapons to eliminate AI, and the AI are just pointless in this game. The game graphics on xbox one x are poor and lack optimization, the gameplay is repetitive, mediocre, and is unchallenging.

A big disappointment. If you loved the first one, don't even bother. Coming from someone who played the game with very little hype.

Art style is bad with bland and too much glass everywhere and transparent holograms, very reflective surfaces, everything combined overwhelms your vision and makes the game barely playable and hard to orient yourself. It's not even as pretty as the first one. Storytelling is just atrocious. I couldn't care a bit for the characters most of the time. There's no character development at all. Shallow. Sandbox gameplay is a complete disaster. I want good storytelling (with actual character development), linear, challenging experience. I don't want to run around a maze of a city top running errands that feel like a chore and a waste of time.

Seriously, don't waste money and time with this if you played the first one.
