The PC port for Monster Hunter Rise is the definitive way to experience this game. I am excited to see where the franchise goes from here, although I will find it hard to slide back into any Monster Hunter game without the new traversal and streamlined elements. Whether you want to hunt alone or play with your friends, play “Fashion Hunter” or experience the main quests, there is something for everyone in Monster Hunter Rise.

An excellent port that presents a solid, complete experience. Super fast load times, improved performance and a ton of content make Monster Hunter Rise on PC the definitive version.

Monster Hunter Rise looks better on PC, runs better on PC, has more control & online options on PC, and arrives with more content at its respective launch.

Monster Hunter Rise was an excellent chapter of the series on Switch, but the PC version plays in a completely different category. If you liked Monster Hunter World, you'll love Rise. Yes, even if the thought of starting all over again terrifies you.

A hundred hours in, Rise does feel a little rote. The lack of quest variety and endgame options besides grinding for talismans has begun to wear on me somewhat. But the journey of getting to this point has been nothing short of an incredible experience. From zipping through the air to bludgeon monsters in the face to setting out on gathering runs with my trusty palamute, the minute-to-minute gameplay of Rise is impeccable. The only real issue with Rise is that there isn’t more of it, but with plenty of future updates and an entire expansion on the horizon, this is surely just the beginning of what this game has to offer.

Monster Hunter Rise on PC is the definitive version of an excellent entry in this long running franchise and whether you are a veteran of the series or a rookie, looking to jump in for the first time, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab a weapon and start hunting some monsters.

Monster Hunter Rise stands toe-to-toe with World, especially on PC. Its end-game grind may not be as robust, but a serious focus on fun and community over narrative and fidelity pays off.

The PC version of Monster Hunter Rise is a solid port that in general does not differ much from what we saw on Switch. Therefore, praise and complaints about the Switch edition mostly still apply. It’s a bit disappointing that the year that has passed between the releases brought us little more than graphical improvements, but the game itself is still stellar.

With an accelerated combat system, some light grind and well-designed monsters, Monster Hunter Rise will provide you with many hours of adrenaline-filled fun. The experience that this game provides in multiplayer is unique, regardless of the complicated formation of the party. Definitely a version that every PC gamer should have in their Steam library.

Monster Hunter Rise blends the best elements from earlier series entries, and delivers a streamlined, action-packed, monster-slaying experience.

Monster Hunter Rise combines all of the quality of life features introduced in World while keeping the best parts of the earlier games in the series, resulting in the most refined Monster Hunter title to date.

Indeed, although it is identical in terms of content to the Nintendo Switch version on PC, it is a total success and remains an excellent gateway for beginners.

Monster Hunter Rise has lost none of its appeal in moving from a Nintendo Switch screen to a PC one. In Ultrawide, with an unlocked frame-rate, it’s the best way to play what may be the franchise’s best entry yet. If you’re looking for deep RPG systems, a T-Rex that breathes fire, and a huge hammer to smack it in the head with, then Monster Hunter Rise is essential.

Monster Hunter Rise on PC has all the updates and new content added to the Switch version right from the get go with vastly improved performance and graphics. While the visuals could've been improved further, this is still the best way to play Monster Hunter Rise.

With the streamlining of some of the most annoying aspects of the Monster Hunter experience and some excellent additions to the formula like Wirebugs and Switch Skills, Monster Hunter Rise reaches the heights of the best entries in the series with ease. While not all of the changes and new features have been for the best, like Rampage Quests, their general quality level, and the amazing PC port, do make the game one that's worth playing for both long-time fans of the series and newcomers.

Monster Hunter Rise is probably the best game in the series. It isn’t quite as accessible as World, but long term it offers much more varied combat and a richer experience. Its world and gameplay are insanely engaging and fun. Technically, the port to PC results in solid, smooth gameplay and marginally better visuals. If you have a choice, it’s definitely the way to play, the best and most complete version of one of 2021’s standout games.

It is an HD upgrade, but its graphic improvements are enough to amply enhance the monster hunting experience of Monster Hunter: Rise, and this makes it one of the best action games on PC. If you have not played this game on Nintendo Switch, I strongly recommend you buy this game and experience the new action system and Wirebugs in Monster Hunter: Rise. But if you are a seasoned hunter who has defeated the Thunder Serpent Narwa, you may choose to wait and make a decision when the DLC is released a few months later.

MH Rise refines the combat system with clever innovations that both veterans and newcomers will enjoy - if they can overlook the low-grade graphics and story.

Monster Hunter Rise’s combat is excellent, and the PC version is virtually a perfect port of the Switch version. As someone who had never played a Monster Hunter game before, I’m hooked.

Monster Hunter Rise remains a stellar title on the PC, hardly losing any ground from the greatness it already achieved earlier this year on the Nintendo Switch. The game looks better than ever now that powerful hardware improves the graphics, giving everything from the monsters to the environments a nice polish. Unfortunately, however, the new format doesn’t always take the various kinds of players into account. Veteran players will likely grow tired of skipping through the tutorials again, and any player not set up with the right controls will be missing out somewhat. Anyone who has been patient enough to wait, or doesn’t own a Nintendo Switch, will be happy to have an overall superior version.

This PC port fulfills its role very well because it cancels a lot of limitations of the Switch version. The framerate is no longer stuck at 30 frames per second, the resolution can go up to 4K, some textures are much more detailed, and loading times are noticeably reduced. However, we should not expect either that this former Nintendo exclusive will miraculously transform into graphic mastery worthy of the biggest productions of 2022.

Monster Hunter Rise is a successful and worthy port, its fantastic gameplay and content more than compensate for the somewhat outdated graphics on PC. It's still clean and rather pleasant to look at during the fights, and especially very fluid. Those who enjoyed Monster Hunter World shouldn't hesitate to jump in, it's an equally valid game in the license, even if it's a bit different. For the others, it's also a gateway to the license, with improvements in comfort and accessibility, as well as a slightly faster pace of play than its predecessors.

Monster Hunter Rise is another entertaining entry in the venerated franchise that continues to scratch a unique itch. New players will be eased into the franchise and returning players will enjoy hunting with friends as well. Capcom has also delivered yet another good port that definitely makes this version the one to play.

It seems that it was a simple task to bring Monster Hunter Rise to PC because the result was pretty okay, especially when it comes to performance. The only bad thing is that its graphics don't look better, even if the resolution is 4K. Nevertheless, it's worth your time, you're going to have fun from first to the last hunt.

Monster Hunter is a series about systems—Capcom can’t escape that, no matter how much marketing and PR they throw at it. But it isn’t a series about getting it either, as much as its staunchest adherents would have you believe. It’s about feeling it. And Monster Hunter Rise feels good—simple as that.

When considering the PC version of Rise, it’s hard not to compare it directly to the as-yet unmatched juggernaut that is Monster Hunter World – a competition that I don’t think Rise wins. That said, Monster Hunter Rise is still an enjoyable, well-crafted game with some compelling innovations that make it a wonderful addition to the Monster Hunter franchise. Plus, you can make a fire-breathing T-Rex suplex a dragon. If that doesn’t persuade you, nothing will.

I strongly recommend Monster Hunter Rise, but this isn’t World. It’s harder, less environmentally appealing, and more focused on the rivalry between the hunters and the monsters. Gaining the pieces to build that armor or make that weapon is sometimes a bit more of a grind as the RNG isn’t quite as good but the satisfaction as always is there and strong. But amazing combat and great rewards keep the fun moving, albeit very differently from its most recent predecessor.

Monster Hunter Rise is a big step forward for the Monster Hunter series, both in terms of its design and the quality of its PC port. The port is nothing groundbreaking, but the MH team has done themselves proud with this, and I’m just glad to be able to play this game at a high framerate.

Almost a year after the debut of Monster Hunter Rise on Switch, the expectation of fans on PC has been rewarded with a valuable port, which not only preserves the merits of the original version but enhances them with a good collection of technical improvements. Net of some fluctuations in the overall yield of the proposal, the new edition of Rise therefore has all the credentials to offer the people of Steam dozens of hours of hunting fun and epic clashes, enhanced by an unprecedented fluidity for the Capcom title.

Overall, the PC port of Monster Hunter Rise is superior to the Nintendo Switch version, thanks to the PC enhancements. It has some of the best combat mechanics in the Monster Hunter series, the new monsters are an absolute delight to hunt, and the improved frame rate and resolutions enrich the hunting experience. It does have a couple of flaws, but they are minor issues in the grand scheme of things.

Monster Hunter Rise arrives on PC in dazzling form, complete with support for 4K resolution, unlocked frame-rate and ultrawide monitors. Too bad we’re not able to carry the old save into this new version that will force you to start all over again.

Beyond mounting monsters and using the wirebug to wall-run in spectacular fashion, not much else distinguishes Monster Hunter Rise from the installments that came before. It has enough endgame content to keep you occupied long after the credits roll (if you don’t mind copious amounts of grinding) and multiplayer is still the optimal way to play, but the excitement of my early hunts waned before long. Monster Hunter Rise is far from being the next definitive chapter in the series. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a polished-but-conventional adventure with a few small-scale nuances, then you’ll be right at home in Kamura Village.

Monster Hunter Rise is a brilliant addition to the Monster Hunter lineup. It delivers incredible combat with newly added monsters and highly-desired mobility. However, it does suffer from messy systems, a mediocre story and can become quite grindy. Despite these flaws though, I have had countless hours of fun and will continue to do so. The co-op aspect just adds even more enjoyment to an already enjoyable game. I just wish the system UI had been redone for PC.

Despite releasing nearly a year after its Switch counterpart, the PC version of Monster Hunter Rise feels like a minimal improvement. Sure, you can get frame rates in the hundreds and high resolutions, but frequent crashes can reset your settings and cutscenes are still locked at 30. The keyboard and mouse control options are a big boon for accessibility, but the visual improvements here feel so minimal I’ll stick to the portable edition.

Monster Hunter Rise on PC is just a different way to play a fantastic game. And while that’s great news for PC players who’ve never bought into Nintendo’s ecosystem, its graphics fail to impress, even on the most impressive of hardware.
  2. For the most part, though, Monster Hunter Rise is another stonking addition to the series, and in my books a more than worthy successor to Monster Hunter: World. There's a generous and playful sense of freedom here that keeps combat and exploration feeling fresh, and the momentum of its hunting-led missions means you're rarely spinning your wheels as you seek out that last elusive armour part. It's kept me playing much longer than I ever did with World, and I can't wait to see how it develops with its imminent Sunbreak expansion later this summer. [RPS Bestest Bests]

Overall, Monster Hunter Rise on PC is another perfect example of why the series belongs on computer. It offers all the excellent experiences found on the Nintendo Switch, albeit with improved visuals, better resolution, a myriad of performance options, and greater controller support. Hopefully there comes a day when PC players get to experience a Monster Hunter title at the same time as console players, because the series has shown that it thrives on PC, with a playerbase ready to dive into it with their whole hearts. For those that have been biding their time, I’m pleased to say that Monster Hunter Rise on PC has been well worth the wait.
  4. Jan 11, 2022
Monster Hunter Rise is a great game that’s even better on PC, but it’s hard to recommend if you’ve already played it on the Switch and don’t have unlimited free time. If you managed to get a Steam Deck preorder, though, this could well be the perfect game to christen it with for anyone looking to get into the series. It’s just unfortunate that Monster Hunter enthusiasts who already jumped on Rise will have to start from scratch. I hope Capcom releases future Monster Hunter games on PC at the same time as consoles, or finds a way to include cross-save functionality — ideally both.

I've never refunded a game on steam, and I've never cared enough one way or another to write a review on pretty much any game I've ever played. But when I took a week off of work to play MHR on PC, I didn't know I would just be wasting my PTO. Completely unplayable as the game can't create a save file and just loops indefinitely without ever being able to get to the main menu. Uninstall & Reinstall, verify integrity of game cache, delete old save file folders, turning steam cloud off/on, all had absolutely no effect on this issue. I spent $63 on a frustrating menu simulator. I didn't get a single second of play time in the 2 hours I spent troubleshooting this issue last night, and with no update in sight, this game looks like a lost cause for now. Do not buy this game if you intend to play it within the next few weeks until they update it. I would give a 1/10, but I never got to experience a single second of the game. I put hundreds of hours into MHW, and when I saw a new release, I took time off to be able to enjoy it on release day. Don't make the same mistake as me. Requested refund on steam, and it will be a few days/weeks before I even get to spend that on a game that actually works. 0/10. Full Review »
