While not creating anything new, per se, Ubisoft has taken the venerable Adventure Game and, once again, raised it to a new height.
-
One of the strongest titles to be released in 2004. The gripping story, maddening puzzles, and style of the game remains a stark contrast to the Half-Life's and Doom's typically residing on store shelfs.
-
It's arguably the closest thing yet to virtual reality in a computer game.
-
Much of the game is truly a wonder to behold, and while unraveling the story will probably be an interesting incentive for longtime fans of Myst, it's the thrill of being able to fully and freely explore the game's imaginative and remarkably lifelike worlds that often proves to be the biggest incentive for pushing past Myst IV's near-impenetrable puzzle barriers.
-
Some will find that the game’s endless puzzle-solving becomes frustrating when they reach stumbling blocks, though the Help feature has been enhanced this time around. In contrast, legions of Myst fans will delight in cracking this parti-cular if rather peculiar cerebral nut.
-
Computer Gaming WorldThe most significant improvement over past Myst games is a stronger integration of the story with the puzzles. [Holiday 2004, p.90]
-
Slow, tiresome and, fundamentally, a bit broken. [PC Gamer UK]

littlebirdOct 19, 2004A beautiful and successful homage to Myst and Riven, and building on what worked in Exile, Revelation is a true heir to the Myst throne. Well done!

ShootsyOct 6, 2004After 10 hours of playing the thrill is yet to be found. As bad as Uru if not worse. A total failure. A cheating on Myst and Riven.
