Get your rifle and ammo ready, and make sure you set up camp and a fire before the sun goes down…the wolves and bears are hungry and you look like dinner. The Ranger needs some guidance from a skilled outdoorsman, and Gary at the Snowridge Lodge could really use some more game to get him through the rough months. Open Country offers a lot of contents for a very low cost. Hunting, fishing and quad racing, all immersed in an unspoiled setting in the wilderness. If you are looking for freedom and some healthy competition this is the title you are looking for.

The new FunLabs title is striking above all for its ambition.

A brave outdoor life simulator in which you have to explore, hunt, and carry out repetitive tasks and missions completely devoid of appeal. The result is a game that is beautiful to look at (for its price) but rather boring to play; only recommended to the most motivated players.

Even if Open Country tries to differentiate itself from other similar games, it can't succeed in its task. The many implemented features are not a novelty and they fails to shine in a way or another. Moreover, the game feels unpolished due to many bugs and problems that can be often encountered. Right now, Open Country is no more than a beautiful place to watch landscapes from the top of a mountain.

The game offers what you don't find often on the market, a survival game that doesn't involve zombies or monsters of one kind or another. The game offers what you don't find often on the market, a survival game that doesn't involve zombies or monsters of one kind or another.
It's a blend of survival, hunting and exploration with some story to prop it up, doing okay in all but excelling in none.

    The bad:
    Rough release, lots of bugs.

    The good:
Even with all the bugs and mediocre voice acting, I found the world fun to explore (once I figured out how to take care of hunger/thirst/energy, and not get sick).
The developers seem very active and open to suggestions.

This game is currently in a rough state, that said, it offers a lot of what I've wanted for a long time now, a game that offers casual survival and some stuff to do and explore/find. I'm looking forward to how this game will evolve.
