For me, OPUS: Echo of Starsong had everything I could possibly want in a game. Rich storylines, interesting characters that genuinely have purpose and have their own motives, wonderful world-building and simply magnificent music. In fact, OPUS: Echo of Starsong holds a very rare accolade of being one of the very few games that have brought me to tears by the end—in a completely good way of course. OPUS: Echo of Starsong taps into your emotions with ease and utilises them exceptionally well to create a story that is not only beautiful but equally as heart-wrenching. OPUS: Echo of Starsong is a phenomenal tale that you simply must experience.

OPUS: Echo of Starsong pulls you in like a beautiful black hole, immersing you into a galaxy that will feel familiar to you only after a few hours into your playthrough. The narrative builds steadily on its incredible lore and endearingly imperfect cast of characters, leading up to a worthy emotional payoff. OPUS: Echo of Starsong makes the most of every moment of the player's time, rounding out into an breathtaking intergalactic experience that adventure game and visual novel lovers shouldn't miss.

With an expansive story and unique presentation bringing everything beloved from the prior Opus entries, Opus: Echo of Starsong is by far the franchise’s best outing. We get some standout narrative and interactive segments by taking what worked before and improving the design and presentation. The random elements and item management require more hands-on from the player, but the result is a gorgeous and low barrier of entry adventure through space.

OPUS: Echo of Starsong was a complete surprise to me in several ways. The gameplay was enjoyable without ever becoming too frustrating or boring, the visual presentation was beautiful, and the focus on audio was implemented well. But what ultimately stood out to me most was the creativity and care put into the story. This was an absolutely touching and memorable sci-fi tale with an endearing cast of characters, and it left quite the impression after I finished the game. Much like the echoes of ephemeral sound that the characters follow throughout the stars, OPUS: Echo of Starsong might just leave you with a lasting impression.

Overall, Echo of Starsong is another strong showing for the OPUS series — pleasant graphics, along with minor gameplay elements that successfully break up the visual novel sections, and an interesting story. This one will definitely please fans of the series and can be easily recommended to fans of the visual novel genre as well.

Many people probably won't go past the first couple of minutes, if they even try it to begin with. The game's just not very "interactive", feeling more like a point and click or puzzle game, but if you can deal with that for around 9 hours it really is a lovely experience.
I'm glad the GamePass app recomended it cause honestly wouldn't have even know this exists, but I loved it!

it is really surprising to me that the game got so overwhelming critics because i don't get it.
the story is intermediate at best.
the gameplay is one of the worst i have ever played. it is super slow and the most repetitive thing of al time in a video game. you always fly to the next destination where you have to read so much (most not story relating) and click "explore". from time to time you have walking stages where you basically go from A to B and do (no exaggeration) the same "puzzle" the whole game. which isn't challenging or funny at all.
nothing is explained to you so you also have to figure out what to do and where to go in the first place.

overall this game is very boring and exhausting and i'm glad it was included in xbox game pass. i would have been very mad if i had to pay for this. absolutely NO RECOMMENDATION for opus!!
