Pavilion is a platform game in which, wonder of wonders, you do not control the main character. Absurd basis maybe, but the result is a very pleasant and original game that surpasses all genre boundaries. The charming design and a relaxing atmosphere make it almost a work of art. It just needs more content to be perfect.

I will likely return to Pavilion to get lost in its digital labyrinths, to discover how objects can be rearranged to play with the narrative of a faceless man in a suit. When I return to Pavilion’s twisty little passages in Chapter 2 next year, I hope recall that feeling of blissful disorientation I felt in the dizzying corridors of Borges’ prose.

Although thin on tangible story, Pavilion’s first of two planned chapters succeeds as an engaging puzzler with an interesting game mechanic and superb production values that help atone for some troublesome technical issues.

Great visual experience and at the same time a funny puzzle game for a few minutes. The problem is that it is more art than a game. [Issue #268]
