  1. If you enjoy action games with a dash of strategy that are open ended, have a good amount of replay value, and offer you the chance to play as you wish, then you should definitely check it out.
  2. The battle graphics are plain vanilla and could have been much better without too much effort. PH also lacks the depth to call it a great game. Everything from trading to battles is straight-forward and streamlined. However, there are enough simple elements gathered together into the game that you can get hours of enjoyment out of it.
  3. The game lacks multiplayer which I think is really a shame; it would have been great to play with several friends and roam the Caribbean trying to sink each other.

Once you've mastered the ship-to-ship battles, captured a few towns and messed around with the simple trading system, you'll have seen the majority of what it has to offer...If you fancy a few hours of easy-going fun on the high seas, give it a try.
  5. 68
A fun yet repetitive and slow-paced romp through the history of the Caribbean.

If you're looking for a game that will pit you in the role of a pirate, with about 5 hours of gameplay, decent graphics, and an enthralling soundtrack, look no further. But if your desire lies in a game with a great deal of depth, replay value, and longevity, this game may not be your cup of tea.
  7. With a little effort, they really could have done a lot more with Pirate Hunter, like adding some personal stats and experience to you character, skills like swordfighting or cannon-laying or allowing you to hire specific crew members with different skills.

It was a toss back to the original Pirates! that I played endlessly on my Commodore 64. I've spent many hours so far playing the game and have only completed 2 scenarios, yes the game is repetative, but then so was Pirates! The biggest drawback I see is that you can only have one (1) ship in combat no matter how many are in your fleet, and then you go against how ever many are in the other fleet. Personally I've gone 1 on 4, that add a touch of challenge, but also frustration in the fact that I had 6 or more ships in my fleet. All in all a good game with plenty of replay value. Expand
