  1. Prince of Persia is a wonderful and nearly magical game. It’s not very long but it’s long enough, as it will entail around 10-14 hours of continuous platforming and fighting, even if you don’t try to pick up the 1001 Seeds of Light.
  2. The new visual style works and the technical side of the game is flawless but ultimately this re-imaging of Prince of Persia ends up being a bit short and easy. In the quest to rid the game of all potential sources of frustration, the low difficulty level is unfortunate collateral damage. Fun and accessible but fails to match the brilliance of Sands of Time.

The new title combines strong platforming fundamentals, Assassin's Creed's open-world structure, and some of Okami's wonderful aesthetic flourishes. What it introduces to action games is something truly wonderful.
  4. While Prince of Persia is definitely flawed and can even become tedious at points, it creates a dreamlike world that keeps you interested. It is an interactive extension of what good fiction tries to be, and while it's not for everyone, it can often leave you with a desire to come back for more.

Having said this, Prince of Persia is one of those games that has obvious flaws but manages to pull together to become so much more than the sum of its parts. The charmingly cliched story, the visuals, audio, and their sparkling polish come together to make the Prince of Persia a modern epic. [January 2009, p.51]
  6. Were it not for obtrusive hints and copy/pasted design, Prince of Persia would have taken its rightful place in our Hall of Fame.

Dumbed down; drawn out; deeply annoying. [Jan 2009, p.84]

I liked the game more then i expected because it put me in the sense of flow that i rarely experience in video games nowadays. But what makes it stand out for me so much is that when you make the biggest game decision you never question your choice or it's outcome and you accept all consequences while saying "It was all worth it" and spilling a little tear at the end. The biggest pleasure i got was AFTER i finished the game and realized what was it about and why things happened how they happened. Its a masterpiece. Simple, but it doesn't have to be difficult to be good. Its a perfect example of story-based video games that actually put a "story" and a "video game" not running along but depending on each other 100%. Expand

It's the best Prince of Persia in my opinion on PC. The graphics are amazing, they are fluid and there is no loading screen except when you teleport. The combat system is different from the other PoPs, you only fight 1 vs 1. I would have given it 10 but I have some problems understanding how the combat controls work in this game, there are 4 attack commands (Sword, Grip, Defend, Magic) and even though there was a tutorial on using them I still haven't mastered them. The meat and The reimagining of the PoP series turns out to be extremely pretty, slightly repetitive and uneven in terms of storytelling. The meat and bones of the game, the acrobatic platforming, seems to be pushed a bit over the top with the inclusion of ceiling-running and completly unnecessary power-plate system, but overall turns out to be quite ejoyable. Ubisofts attempt at making the gameplay more streamlined is to be applauded, but it doesn't mean it turned out for the better - the lack of punishment for failing with little reward for succeess makes the gameplay boring and uneventful for the more experienced players, while providing little incentive in the form of reward for newcomers. Ubisoft is to be thanked for giving other game devs this lesson - attempts at streamlining the gameplay are needed and good, but they shouldn't look quite just like in this new PoP. Ubisofts fault is in another thing - being stuch to their gameplay design techniques that induce an illusion of freedom and a lot of repetition. This is present since the Assasin's Creed, and while PoP isn't as bad as the abovementioned, it isn't good either. The narrative is terribly cliched and compared to the gem that was the Sands of Time, turns out bland. Hovewer there is a potential for a great fairy tale to be told in the esthetics of the gorgeous graphics - it needs more "magic" to it though. And certainly more diversified dialogues delivered by more fleshed out, complex characters, as americanised accent and their almost sitcom style were really the thing that bothered me the most about the way narrative was presented. Overall though, the ending of the game was very enjoyable, if not unexpected, and provides a good premise for inevitable sequel(s). To sum up: a beautifull, inspired world, slightly too easy and repetitive gameplay, and cliche-ridden narrative that manages to come to its own at the end of the game. It's no Sands of Time but still quite enjoyable entertainment, if you don't set your expectations too high. Expand
