  • Summary: Out of cash, out of luck, out on the fringe. Juno Markev has a killer to tail, a debt to pay, and more trouble headed her way. In the Dodge Sector it’s hard to get by – and even harder to get even.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, like the first, is a single-player only affair, which might disappoint some. It shouldn’t, though. There are easily tens of hours worth of adventure in just a single playthrough. With the ability to take different paths, replayability is high. Outlaw improves on an already great game in all the right ways and the result is the best open-space adventure in years.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw represents a true spiritual successor to Freelancer and similar games. If you are a fan of spaceship shooters and simulators this game is a must-have. Even with a few minor faults, it is worth the admission ticket.

Among the many insights offered in Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, it knows that if there’s one thing better than cruising around in a sweet ride blowing stuff up and flying through their explosions, it’s cruising around in a sweet ride blowing stuff up and flying through their explosions while listening to sweet tunes.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw lives up to its name among space sims. It’s spirited, good-looking and vibrant, effectively spraying several cans of blue and pink graffiti over the existing space sim template. None of its systems are particularly deep, but skimming along over them can be an exhilarating journey.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw brings a smaller scope and simplified controls to a sometimes intimidating genre, watering down the grandeur of spaceflight, but making it more fun and accessible at the same time. Its repetitive missions and sparse narrative weigh it down, but its fantastically engaging dogfights make it an easy recommendation.

Anyone who likes the idea of being a bounty hunter in space will enjoy their time with Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. Just don’t expect the casino to blow you away.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw manages to take plenty of familiar elements and whisk them together into a completely original package. The dusty trucker atmosphere combined with the sharp and agile dogfighting gameplay kept me engaged for hours, although the back-tracking and cash grinding wore me out before too long. Even with those issues, there's something special about the aesthetic of Rebel Galaxy Outlaw that demands the attention of anyone looking for some good, dirty spaceship action.

Elite has been ultimately a disappointment, I won't get stared on Star Citizen, and it's left to the indie devs to keep the genre alive. This game is essentially a sequel to Privateer 30 years later. Every pixel of this game is a determined effort to recapture the aesthetics of the past, but carry the usability and scope of it into the present. When you fondly think back to how great the games of the 90s were, this is how you remember them, not nearly as clunky and pixelated as they truly were. 10/10 because they delivered above and beyond expectations, and everything here is their full list of intentions - there is nothing that didn't make it in, or got left half finished. This is a completed game, which we've mostly forgotten what that looks like. Modding support is coming. Go wild, community. Expand

Considering this is just made by 5 people it’s packed with features that rival some AAA games. It’s WW2 style combat and it’s offers a variety of different ships that can be kitted out in many ways. Honestly, it’s just fun to play! The soundtrack has got to be one of the best a game has ever had, even rivalling GTA5.

Sure it’s not perfect and I can imagine the gameplay loop may get repetitive for some but if you love explosions and want a game you can use to de-stress then this is it! This has already been promoted into my top 5 games ever! Buy it!

It seems to put the focus on fun, rather than super-realism. I like fun. I like blowing things up. There's lots of explosions. The voice acting is pretty decent too. The one liners when fighting people are pretty great!
One of my favorite games growing up was Wing Commander: Privateer. If you played that and enjoyed it at all, you owe it to yourself to check this game out!
If you want a super realistic space sim, with a super dynamic economy, rendering the entire mikly way.... this isn't it.
If you want to have fun blowing stuff up in space while rocking out to a great soundtrack, this is definitely it.

Terrible controls. I spent half of my time adjusting mouse sensitivity, deadzone, smoothing etc.. and I just can't get the right feeling forTerrible controls. I spent half of my time adjusting mouse sensitivity, deadzone, smoothing etc.. and I just can't get the right feeling for it. Also I can't adjust the music/sound effects properly. No matter if I turn down the sound fx lowest, some sounds are way too loud.
Graphics. -- I know this style and it can be ok, but I was shocked to discover that the game uses 2D sprites in many instances, like games from 1992. Just look carefully when you blow up something and look at the particles, they aren't 3D. Also the jumpgate animation is just so bad, I have to skip it every time, and that's also one of the loud sound fxs that I can't turn down low enough. The cockpit is kinda cool in the ships, but come on..it's 2019 where are the 3D cockpits or let me turn off some of the instruments or give me a better perspective. I know Wing Commander games play a big influence, but we don't have to copy the bad aspects or somehow make the graphics/computer limitations of that era =a feature.
Also, the game could be a lot better if it sort the the systems a bit better. "Extreme danger" sometimes is nothing, and "low crime" area and I'm blasted into pieces by a pirate with a giant ship.
Ship choices are also kinda disappointing. The top of the top ship isn't as useful- due to control issues- as a heavy transport with thick armor. The agility doesn't help here, since it seems like everyone - including me- struggling to control the ships in the game, you aren't getting a better turn-ratio or more precise hit-run style attack, than a fat transport ship, which can take the beating for a lot longer. Also missing lateral controls. I'm supposed to mine asteroids but I have to thrust away and back to find the spot to hit with the laser, because my ship can't move sideways? You gotta be joking me, even the moon lander in 1960s had lateral thrust, and this game plays well into the future, although a "weird future", ships cannot move sideways. It can also be though, because the game unfinished? J
The game is also hints being unfinished in many other aspects. You can't miss it it's apparent on the menus, graphics, options, bugs and glitches.
    Final word:
This is a half baked game really, get it if you want a couple of hours of fun go ahead, but be aware of the limitations and shortcomings. I gave up after I bought the most expensive ship and be disappointed it was worse than the 2nd cheapest one.

I cannot put into words how awful theLaunched with abysmal keyboard and mouse controls, and apparently a slew of flight stick issues. I cannot put into words how awful the keyboard and mouse controls are. For a game selling itself as a continuation of '90s space flight sims, they sure did **** all research into good control schemes.

The gameplay itself is what you expect of the genre, if a bit shallow. For example you can't actually dock, you can only approach stations and press 'E'. Missions consist of flying to a purple or yellow icon by pressing 'E', and then either pressing 'E' again, or clicking on enemies until they die. Sometimes you press 'E' again to loot. There is a reason it only costs $30. Your money is probably better spent on other games, unless you really want to play it for some reason. No Man's Sky is on sale for $30 right now and if you don't have it yet you'll get way more out of it.

if it wasn't for the horrendous controls I would give it a 6 or 7. I wanted to like this game, I really did, but it is so damn half baked, with incorrect keybind prompts popping up, no "up one menu" key, really strange mouse controls in certain menus, and so on. Be highly dubious of anyone giving it a 10. I could see someone who played it with a controller with no expectations of a flight sim giving it an 8 at the most, which is what the professional critics seem to have averaged on.

Great animations - which you will start quiting after tenth time you see them in ten minutes. Horrible flight controls. Main protagonist makes you wanna crash and burn. Main story is just pasted on and gives absolutely no motivation to suffer throught the game.
Makes one think if some developers put their games to Epic store just because player feedback and reactions are not visible there.
