    The longest episode yet, this picks up the ball and runs with it, and looks to be building to a tremendous finale.

    Episode 3 highlights the collaboration between characters in a better way than its predecessors. Taking under consideration the terrifying atmosphere, it can be easily named as the best episode in the series so far.

    The positive trend continues. I am especially happy about the environment puzzles, the boss fights as well as the quiet moments where fear and terror set in. With every episode it looks more like a real Resident Evil.

    Resident Evil: Revelations 2 takes a step in the right direction with this week's episode, introducing a new interesting enemy. The plot improved slightly, but renews the hope that the game can grow into something better.

    Before I discus episode 3, I have to explain, for those who are not quite familiar with the concept, how this episoding works.

    Before I discus episode 3, I have to explain, for those who are not quite familiar with the concept, how this episoding works.
    Resident Evil Revelations 2 follows the concept of games like Tell Tale's The walking dead in being released in parts, just like a televisions series. The basic game has 4 episodes. Each episode is subdivided into two parts. The first part follows the story of Claire and Moira trying to escape from a mysterious Island that seems to be the playing ground of the sadistic overseer. The second part follows Barry, accompanied by Natalia, arriving 6 months later to rescue his daughter Moira.

    In episode 2 both groups ended up at a mysterious tower and episode 3 picks up from there. Claire and Moira are unable to enter the tower, so instead they try to find a way in through a nearby factory. This part/episode sees a lot more puzzles and fighting, which is different from episode 2, which saw a lot of fighting, but not many puzzles, and episode 1, which was more horror like and suspenseful, with overall less fights and a fewer puzzles.

    The Barry/Natalia part is somewhat similar in style to the previous parts in the first two episodes, focusing more on the interaction between Barry and Natalia and the overall creepy mood. This interaction is actually important because Barry has to deal with various dangerous monsters, some of which can only be seen by Natalia.

    Overall I found this a good episode which I enjoyed. However there is a bit of a problem with the story.

    Already the premise of the game was somewhat shaky(Claire and Moira get kidnapped.. but what for?), but during the game the story unravels as the game elements are bursting through the seams, which is apparent by the programming that requires each episode to go out with a bang: the episode's boss battle.

    The prime motivation for Claire and Moira is to get off the island, but at the start of episode 2 this is turned into: lets go to the tower to find the overseer. Why Claire and Moire would go up against a sinister being that lurks in a tower at the heart of an island filled with monsters, with just a pistol, a shotgun and almost no ammo is never quite explained. Why penetrate into the heart of darkness while escape seems to be the more logical reaction?
    Because it is a game, of course.
    Tombraider has a somewhat similar concept: she is stranded on an island and her motive is to get off the island. It is this what drives the story and leads from one logical step to the next. Find food and equipment; find her friends; find stuff to repair the boat. Get off the island.
    The resident evil game, however doesn't follow from one logical step to the next.
    With Barry I was wondering why he never quite tried to figure out how a little kid as Natalia can survive all alone on an island filled with monsters?

    The story is quite shaky, but overall the game is nice and, given my experience with the other RE games, certainly one of the better ones.
