In spite of a few missteps, Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches is a good-looking, entertaining and well-made game, especially considering the size of the dev team. It's the perfect title for people who dig history, mystery and the paranormal, not to mention people who like to think when they game.
Welsh spooks, ancient myths, and subtle scares abound in this stylish point-and-click adventure.

With its slow pacing and detailed puzzles, Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches is definitely a game for confirmed adventure fans rather than casual players, but aside from the spookiness factor being somewhat hampered by the low budget aesthetics, the story does a great job of pulling you in thanks to its intimate nature and everyday setting. A minor gem, but a rough one to be sure.
If you like a thorough, challenging adventure with a story that's its strongest point, you'll enjoy it. Just be warned, the Myst-style mouse control system is far from cutting edge. [Feb 2009, p.63]
It's definitely not the best introduction to adventure games but if you're a fan of the genre and you don't mind a slow moving and isolated experience, then you're likely to find the story intriguing and the puzzles logical yet complex enough to bestow a sense of satisfaction when you solve them.
A mute genderless creature named Chris stands before a huge mansion; he is lonely, stiff with cold and has no clue what to do. A note telling him to "feed the cat" does not count. The mansion is completely open to exploration. Walk around, look around. Be bored to death.
Rhiannon is a decent game for those who are willing to search for the story within the game, who are willing to keep roaming on the same location without a specific goal and who are willing to look past the mediocre look of the game that already was obsolete in 1996. If you answered positive on any of the above the game offers a interesting adventure. For anyone else it might be beter to wait for a new adventure.
