Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality - Launch Trailer
Jul 29, 2017Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality perfectly matches the show's hilarity and absurdity, and truly feels like an extended episode of the show. As a clone of Morty, and consequently the lowliest creature in the Smith household, you don't get to go on all of the adventures with Rick, but somehow the tedium inherent to the studio's predecessor 'Job Simulator' all pays off in the most Rick-way possible. [Tested with HTC Vive, Oculus Touch]
May 17, 2017If you’re in the niche group that is both a fan of Rick and Morty and owns an expensive VR headset, then you’ve got to pick up this game as it features of the best fanservice out there. That said, at $30 the price tag is a bit steep for a game that can be completed in a couple hours—but by this point, you’re probably used to the ‘VR tax’. Completionists will probably get a lot more time out of the game finding all the secret Easter eggs and references to the show that are available, as you can continue playing after finishing the story.
Apr 21, 2017Ultimately it’s too expensive for how long it is, but if you have invested in PC-based VR, it’s hard to imagine you’ll baulk at the price. I hope this isn’t the only dalliance with VR we see from Rick and Morty, because despite being a bit of a shallow, short experience, what is here is excellent. It’s funny, self aware, and has the same great voices from the TV show. It may be the most niche VR game ever, but if you’re a fan of Rick and Morty you owe it to yourself to find a way to play it (for less than it costs to buy a new PC and VR).
Apr 20, 2017One year after the initial launch of Job Simulator, Virtual Rick-ality doesn’t do much to expand on that VR experience; Owlchemy Labs has applied a new coat of paint to an old foundation. This game achieves its modest ambitions of letting fans to dive head-first into the Rick and Morty universe. While I enjoy the faithfulness to the subject matter, Virtual Rick-ality doesn’t have the depth or variety to make it successful on other levels.

I would dare to say its absolute must play as you will get to interact with many familiar things and you will have several moments when you will be in awe how awesome it is you get to experience Rick & Morty world from first person view. And you will have also many laughs, of course.
That being said, its a 2 hour long experience, where you mostly stand in a garage and you realy dont go on an adventure or anything remotely feeling like true Rick & Morty episode adventure. There are small hints of that, but they are too short and too little.
The price point is flat out greedy at $30 and developers know they can charge it only because its Rick & Morty. Which is fine i guess, but at $20 it would be fair price. $30 is just too much.
So should you buy it ? if you love Rick & Morty and you dont care you will spend $30 for the 2 hours experience, absolutely. There is some amazing stuff in the game. If you care about the price point and you care about value for money, then no. Its not good value for money. There is little to no replay value, even tho the game tries to have some.
One more thing to consider tho, is the fact that the VR experiences must be pricey because there is not huge audience and if we want polished and fun experiences like these, we must support the developers. So if you think about it this way as also supporting development of better VR experiences instead of just value for money, then you should buy it. ( But $30 is still greedy ).… Expand

The mainIt captures the spirit of Rick and Morty in a Job Simulator environment, but it isn't long enough for the asking price of $30. The main campaign takes about 90 minutes. Compared with Justin Roiland's Accounting from Crows Crows Crows, which is about 30-45 minutes and free, this game is underwhelming.
Still, it is cute and fun and a good VR experience to show your friends. If you have people to share it with, it might be worth $30. Otherwise wait for a sale.… Expand

The TV show's dark sense of humor does successfully transfer over into this VR experience however you need to be a fan of the TV show to truly appreciate it. The tried and true VR mini-game mechanics are put to good use but this also leaves the title feeling similar to every other VR mini-game or demo. The game is limited to puzzles, shooting galleries and exploration. VR gamers seeking a more robust experience will be let down. Nonetheless this is a polished VR experience and successful adaptation of the TV show. At $30 and with only 2 to 3 hours of content it's a tough title to recommend to anyone other than VR enthusiasts or Rick and Morty super fans.… Expand

It's probably the most bitter realisation when you think your still on the first disk (there's 9 of them), thinking how amazing the game is and can't wait to see what's on the other adventure disks, then you finish that area (the garage) and discover those disks were just save points, and that was it over.
75 minutes for £22, sorry but that's just not good value.
Sure I could play it more, find all the cassettes, mess around, but I found and listened to 5 of them in that same time and just feel really deflated by the whole experience.
With a show that really goes all out on other planets and expeditions, that's what I expected, but no, your stuck in the garage (more or less, 3 tiny excursions) for an hour and a half and it's over.
Tempted to refund it, as much as I enjoyed what was there, it's not worth that money, wait for a DEEP sale!!… Expand
