    Scars Above is AA game design at its absolute best. A tight Sci/fi adventure that is perfectly paced and entertaining from start to finish. Proof positive that a smaller, tighter scope is often a wiser road to success in the world of video games.

    Scars Above seems to have borrowed traits from several games that all combine well to make Scars Above and enjoyable experience. This mixture of simple puzzle-solving and light combat may not suit everyone, but I certainly enjoyed crafting weapons and gadgets that helped bring down the Custodian.

    Although Scars Above will not become a gaming icon and you will quickly forget the name of the main character, we have a good feeling about the sci-fi adventure. Especially the first phase of the game is imaginative, then the level drops a bit and the gameplay is more austere, but finally everything ends successfully.

    Scars Above is a third-person shooter that should have a mysterious narrative filled with cosmic horror involving intense issues. However, even though it develops the essential aspects that are expected from a game like this, it still needs a lot to qualify as a good video game of the genre.

    Overall, Scars Above just can’t rise above its AA roots. This translates to some cut-rate animations, character models, and environments. The game’s primary weapon is good enough, as is the story and combat. But just being adequate is a tough sell. It’s hard to imagine Scars Above moving to the front of the Soulslike line.

    Scars Above wants to do a lot of things at once and takes its inspiration from many successful gems of the past. But it executes all of it just a bit more awkwardly and its own ideas fall flat more often than not. The combat system is pretty solid and the story drags the game from the mire of averageness, but it could’ve been so much better.

    It’s disappointing because if the gameplay had any substance or intrigue to it, all that great atmosphere and design work would’ve lifted it up into something worthwhile, but it’s so relentlessly boring that I just don’t care about all the nice bells and whistles it's packaged in.

    Its not blockbuster with huge budget. It feels like indy game but also it feels like it's made with love from devs. Whats why - strongly recomended.

    I fear most of the people will review this game like it was AAA, done with 300 milion budget, when its not. Cant wait to see the developers next work, if they get some AAA stuff going on, sky is the limit! Good job!… Expand

A real disadvantage very early in the game. Also the fact that the character is always slow to move in fights is frustrating. The sprint is just a gimmick to spend stamina and is useless in fights. Some happening in thigh spaces, so you are slow. Graphics seems ok and there is a certain production value. I give it 60% but I couldn't get passed the first 2 hours.… Expand

    -very repetitive very linear 3rd person shooter, bad ai, bad hero hitbox, little enemies type and bad lip syncing.

    -devs love gorillas gorillas everywhere even final boss big gorilla (disappointment final boss).

    -some good main bosses, interesting sci fi story and some good upgrades.    … Expand

    Don't think of this as a TPS, think of it as a puzzle game.
    This game is only worth $19 IMO.
    Even if you buy it on sale, you're just wasting your time and money.    … Expand
