Shadow Warrior 3 is an unbridled good time with great fights and even greater one-liners. Add in some character and weapon upgrades with a great store and that is a recipe for success in my book. With the exception of the controller issues everything else in this game comes highly recommended by myself.
  2. Feb 28, 2022
Lo Wang’s return to glory is truly spectacular despite the fact that Shadow Warrior 3 is a shorter and simpler game than its predecessors. It’s lightning fast, brutal, funny and straightforward – the ultimate antidote for the never-ending open world craze.
  3. Mar 17, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is absolute fun. It's easy to pick up, and something you definitely want to invest some hours into. This is the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time, and you will not be disappointed. There are a few hiccups and glitches I'm sure will be patched out but I digress. The visuals, the combat, and the characters make this game an absolute blast to look at and play. I have nothing bad to say about it, only because Lo Wang is crazy, and would probably make his way to me! Now, go slay that freakin' dragon!
  4. Mar 2, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 could be considered as one of the best action games of the year. However, the world will probably forget about it during the coming months, just as it forgot The Medium by December of 2021. It's a short but sweet, and really fun game.
  5. Feb 28, 2022
Despite technical difficulties and a lack of Stan Bush, Shadow Warrior 3 still captures the silliness that’s become a trademark of the series.
  6. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 left me wanting more on the account of the relatively short campaign being the entirety of the experience. But there’s something to be said about that. A repetitive shooter that structurally doesn’t change over the course of several hours yet doesn’t grow old or feel tired. A gem of a first-person shooter, an interactive rollercoaster, and one hell of a good time. So much so it’ll have you lining up to go again.
  7. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is an excellent FPS that fans of retro-style arena shooters are sure to have a blast with. Lo Wang's quips might not land with everyone, and fans of the previous game's RPG mechanics might resent the stripping down to basics with the gameplay, but Shadow Warrior 3's efficiency is its greatest strength. By ramping up the over-the-top action with new traversal abilities and Gore Tools, Shadow Warrior 3 is the series' most enjoyable instalment yet, and a strong recommend for shooter fans.
  8. Mar 31, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is like a bloody amusement park as it is fast, thrilling, but extremely short. You can finish the game anywhere between 8-10 hours on higher difficulties.
  9. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 isn’t a very big game. It doesn’t really innovate, either, or let you breathe. But on the flipside of that, it’s focused, and doesn’t waste any of your time. You’re ushered from one combat encounter to another with a big smile on your face, the action never letting up, all the while bombarded with witty dialogue and visual gags that will genuinely make you chuckle. So, if that sounds like your idea of fun, jump right in. You won’t be disappointed.
  10. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a fun shooter that falls short of greatness. The combat is fast and frantic, and it is intense enough that I found myself getting lost in it. The short length, lack of variety, and inevitable comparisons to Doom Eternal don't do it any favors. I am glad that I played Shadow Warrior 3, and I imagine a lot of folks will feel the same way. It might be best to wait for a price drop, as $50 is slightly hefty for the amount of content you get.
  11. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a hilarious, violent shooter with a keen sense of humor. The gameplay is very similar to that of Doom Eternal but this cannot be considered as a flaw. Technically it is a bit backward and for some it may be too linear but it is still an experience that we recommend you try.
  12. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is around 8-10 hours in length, but there is never a dull moment throughout its run. The acrobatic sections have their frustrating moments, but the combat is top-notch, and slicing through hordes of enemies and switching tactics on the fly in the face of a new foe never grows old. Lo Wang's constant commentary and quips might make him feel like Jerry Seinfeld with a katana, but there's no denying that this adventure is an awesome throwback to the blood-drenched shooters of old.
  13. Feb 28, 2022
For some, what you make of Shadow Warrior 3 may well be influenced by the comparisons one draws from the prior 2016 entrant. While all parties will unilaterally agree Flying Wild Hog’s third outing in the series feels more stripped back and “to the point” than its predecessors — least on the surface — feelings thereafter will no doubt be split. Some will deduce this year’s offering lacks what made 2016’s title a novel but compelling shooter to play in repeated session. For others, myself included, that notion of being stripped back by no means signals a negative. But few will disagree that developer Flying Wild Hog have gone about this in as unapologetic and as indulgently-confident a manner as one can get. That attitude may only get you so far in admiration, so it’s thanks to a mixture of smart strategic additions to its combat formula, as well as a welcome care to its artistic design, where the series’ third entrant will garner a majority favor. It may not be reinventing the wheel in any drastic means, but Shadow Warrior 3‘s warranted excess and lovably chaotic flow is one you’ll easily get lost in and perhaps never want to get out of.
  14. Feb 28, 2022
If you sometimes get tired of plodding, greyish-brownish-greenish pseudo-realistic military shooters, this is the antidote. Dazzlingly colourful, unrelentingly fast-paced, unrepentantly zany and bursting with potential for player creativity, Shadow Warrior 3 is absolutely joyous to play from start to finish. So after 25 years, do I STILL want some Wang? You’re damn right I do!
  15. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 has one goal in mind, providing players with an enjoyable and intense experience of slashing and shooting through hordes of enemies. Admittedly, the scope does become a bit too narrow-minded at times, as you sacrifice the potential for solid storytelling, pacing, and novelty. Nevertheless, I can’t deny just how fun it was to brutalize the waves of monsters and become the biggest dick I could ever be.
  16. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 isn't the next "big" FPS we might have been expecting, but it's a quality work from a team that knows how to deliver a good shooter to its audience. Fans of the genre shouldn't miss it, and for those looking for a strong action-packed "dose", the game is a worthwhile proposition.
  17. Mar 3, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a nice mix between Duke Nukem, Serious Sam, DOOM Eternal or Bulletstorm, and that's a good thing! The production of Flying Wild Hog, like its hero, never takes itself seriously and makes a clear contract with the player: immediate fun, non-stop action, blood, sweat and laughter.
  18. Mar 1, 2022
Amusing shooter with rough humour, fast-paced jump passages and exotic monsters, but lacks scope towards the end.

I love Lo Wang so much. So much! He’s truly the best third-grade ninja in circulation! That’s why it’s a shame that the combat arenas are effectively the same throughout the whole campaign.
  20. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a no-holds-barred shooter dripping with humor and full of spectacular moments. Sadly, it’s imperfect in almost every aspect. The sum of all flaws prevents it from shining really bright and reaching the level of Doom Eternal. Such a pity.
  21. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 brings players a pure shooting experience returned to the original nature, with elements such as finishing moves and hooks and ropes making combat more enjoyable. But the small volume of the game and the "humble" character growth system also restrict its ceiling, making it feel like the end has come before the fun is fully enjoyed. If some hidden elements or "New Game+" setting can be added to it, the quality of the game will be better than now.
  22. Feb 28, 2022
Whether you are a returning Shadow Warrior fan or a new one, Shadow Warrior 3 is bound to delight all high-octane shooter fans. Its minor shortcomings are rapidly overcome through the simple act of being gloriously fun.
  23. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 takes the franchise back to basics in terms of structure while adding new mechanics and weapons to keep it fresh.
  24. Feb 28, 2022
Despite playing it safe too often and the game time running a little short, Shadow Warrior 3 is sure to satisfy those looking for a gory piece of ‘80s inspired action.
  25. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a real study in contrasts. There are times when its environments and cutscenes are triple-A game adjacent. Its combat is fast, furious, and fun. On the other hand, there’s not much story to tell, and that engaging combat gets frustrating and numbingly repetitive. Shadow Warrior 3 embraces much of what we remember about early shooters, with a lot more visual panache and polish. By the end, though, we’re desperate for the kind of variety and sophistication that later shooters brought to the genre.
  26. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 feels more linear than the previous game, but is indeed fun and over-the-top. Unfortunately, it's way shorter than it should and you are left with the feeling that it ends when the fun was just starting to unfold.
  27. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a decent entry to the series. It’s the shortest one to date, has the weakest story thus far, and the least content. Despite this, the third chapter is the most fun and visually impressive yet. Your time with the game may be short-lived, but it will still be time well spent.
  28. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a fast, spectacular and over-the-top arena shooter (with bland platforming sections) and, on this front, it works very well. Don't ask for anything more, though.
  29. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow warrior 3 is an excellent first person shooter with an awesome combat system full of possibilities and cool mechanics, with gorgeous and colorful graphics that looks outstanding. The poor and simple level design, short length and lack of content avoid it from reaching the top tiers of the genre.
  30. Apr 11, 2022
The game lacks a bit of depth in almost everything it tries to do, but it's still a ton of fun and a good game to try if you fancy the "Boomer Shooter" games genre. Lo Wang and Shadow Warrior's third installment could've been a bit more polished, but it's still a fun experience.
  31. Mar 24, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 makes use of many good ideas, but the application is mediocre, and the content is limited. The game fails to leave a lasting impression at the end.
  32. Mar 7, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 in a very nice fast FPS game that offers loads of entertainment and fun thanks to Lo Wang's sense of humor. But it's also sold at quite a steep price for what is essentially a 6 hours linear experience with no replay value.
  33. Mar 1, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is an interesting title and a fun playthrough. But I can’t say it’s one to go out of your way to get your hands on. However, if you have the opportunity to play it, it’s a worthwhile ride.
  34. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 provides some good old-fashioned FPS action, even if it isn’t doing anything particularly special within the genre. Its forgettable story gets almost entirely out of the way of its blisteringly fast combat, chock full of enemies that are fun to shoot up through largely familiar methods. It doesn’t take many risks to help it stand out, but Shadow Warrior 3's quick campaign is still a gory and enjoyable gauntlet while it lasts.
  35. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 polishes its gameplay to deliver a fun game full of gore, but its lack of depth might make it a bit repetitive for some players.
  36. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a game that knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s not the best-looking game, nor the most polished. The ambitions are limited, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is the action movie you watch on a weekend afternoon, not Citizen Kane. That confidence results in a game that is extremely enjoyable with a great mix of action and absurdism, but also something that will be easy to forget. The linear design works for a single playthrough, which is more than enough to get what Shadow Warrior 3 has to offer.
  37. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 strips away much of the extra fluff from its predecessor for a short, straightforward thrill ride packed with violence. Its humor doesn't always land and the narrative can be slipshod but the gameplay is very fun and backed by solid level design. Just don't be too surprised at the overall campaign length.
  38. 70
Shadow Warrior 3 has some genuinely great ideas, but it is hampered by a handful of pronounced technical issues and a general lack of replayability.
  39. Feb 28, 2022
Pretty, action-packed, and fun while it lasts, Shadow Warrior 3 is well made as long as there isn't any dialogue, but there's so little content that the price tag makes it truly hard to recommend.
  40. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 delivers a frantic and spectacular but rather linear experience, which can be beaten quite quickly and doesn't feel special. Those who hoped for an evolution of the mechanics seen in Shadow Warrior 2 will be disappointed, while fans of traditional shooters could appreciate the new adventure of Lo Wang even in its absolute harmlessness.
  41. Feb 28, 2022
By the time the credits had rolled I didn’t feel much beyond “that was a video game”. Which is fine, SW3’s combat has been finely tuned, but it takes so many pages from Doom Eternal’s playbook it begs the question of why people shouldn’t just go play that game instead. SW3 doesn’t offer a riveting story, it plods forward without any surprises or a real hook, and ends as generically as it begins.
  42. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is mostly worth playing for its humoristic universe and its inspiration from Doom. Despite a limited content and an almost non-existent scenario, it offers a good moment of relaxation based on energetic confrontations requiring a little concentration. This is sometimes spoiled by a complicated readability of the fights due to a not very well placed camera. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a good fast-paced romp where you don't have to take yourself too seriously, it should be able to satisfy your needs.
  43. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 lives and dies on how much fun it is to play. Thankfully, the minute-to-minute action is downright delightful, even if the boss encounters maintain the series’ streak of being underwhelming. The shooting, movement, and killing are every bit as good as recent Doom games, even if the whole thing feels derivative. The guns and enemies are wildly inventive and engaging. It is a shame the rest of the experience fails to meet the same standard. I was disappointed at many of the design choices here, particularly the loss of cooperative play and randomized encounters. Die-hard fans and shooter aficionados should pick this up, but most folks would probably find more fun with some different wang online.
  44. Mar 7, 2022
Additionally, while I really did enjoy the game, and had a ton of fun learning the combat rhythm and mechanics, I will probably never go back for a second playthrough. As I mentioned earlier, the game is full of the lowest type of humor imaginable, and by the end of the game, the same batch of one-liners that had me chuckling during the opening hours was starting to grate. That, coupled with the singular playstyle and set of upgrades, make for a poor reason to start a second playthrough. While launching at only $50, coming in competing with some of the finest video games of this (or any generation), make it hard to justify an early purchase.
  45. Mar 31, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is fun at first, but combat situations quickly become repetitive, and there’s little variety in the gameplay itself.
  46. Mar 11, 2022
The last Shadow Warrior attempted to return to the simpler gameplay and roots of the series, but the changes towards simplicity were too great.
  47. Feb 28, 2022
While the shooting and free-running gameplay are enjoyable when everything works, Shadow Warrior 3 remains both fun and frustrating in equal measure — while it lasts.
  48. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 feels like a teenager that still has a bit of maturing to do. Humor that tries to be edgy overshadows the fun gameplay, and the lack of an intriguing story does not help either. I would not necessarily say Shadow Warrior 3 is a bad game, but it was disappointing that I often felt like I was playing through a 15-year-old’s video game fantasy. Still, there are moments of fun to be had, and I hope Shadow Warriors 4, if it happens, can fix some of the writing mistakes to make the enjoyable experience of actually playing the game worth the time.
  49. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 isn't quite the game we expected, and on balance, we feel it's a big step back from its two predecessors. Lo Wang's latest adventure is plagued by unparalleled linearity, a cumbersome presence of identical platform stages and a fair amount of technical problems that inevitably affect the gaming experience. To support Shadow Warrior 3 are exclusively the charisma of the protagonist and the frenetic and fun fighting system, although its use is limited by a poor longevity and the total absence of extras that encourage users to return to the game (such as the New Game Plus or a trivial horde mode).
  50. Apr 7, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is not ashamed to admit that it is borrowing everything from other fast-paced FPS games like Doom Eternal, Serious Sam and even Bulletstorm. But with all those references, Shadow Warrior 3 fails to provide any originality and loses its charm from the previous games. The humour is still there, but this time it feels much more forced than usual. With a game-time of 5 to 6 hours, you will have some short burst fun, but it still doesn’t justify the asking price.
  51. Mar 2, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a competent – and often very satisfying – shooter with enough action and guns to stay reasonably interesting throughout. This being said, a mostly unforgettable story, dragging last section and cheesy writing leaves a bad taste in the mouth. It’s fun to put on in the background but doesn’t offer much that isn’t better elsewhere within the genre.
  52. Mar 1, 2022
While not as punchy as Doom Eternal, the energetic, over-the-top combat is fluid, satisfying and by far the best aspect of Shadow Warrior 3. Everything else, however, seems like a big step back from its predecessor: Repetitive parkour segments, terrible writing, bland level design and a limited supply of weapons are not quite enough to carry the game through its playtime, which clocks around six hours or so. With no coop and very little reason to give it another go, the asking price seems a bit steep as well.
  53. 60
Shadow Warrior 3 invokes gaming's simpler past while lampshading the fact that it borrows so much from more modern games. It sits in a no-man's-land of middling design decisions and absolutely terrible writing, even though its action and presentation sometimes shine through.
  54. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 buries a fun shooter so deep in muck that it’s not worth dirtying your hands.
  55. Feb 28, 2022
Shadow Warrior 3 is a huge disappointment and a wasted opportunity to elevate the series and take it out of the niche it's been in for a long time; in fact, it's a considerable step back from Shadow Warrior 2. Lo Wang is constantly irritating and prevents us from enjoying those moderately well-executed moments.
  56. Feb 28, 2022
The new sleepy adventures of Lo Wang in Shadow Warrior are played mechanically without much excitation. Where's the fun ?
  57. Mar 10, 2022
While the new formula of Shadow Warrior 3 offers a few minor positives, they’re far overshadowed by the numerous absences — fewer weapons, simplified combat, a more linear world, a too-brief campaign, and more. It’s a strange and unexpected step backwards for a series that I had previously enjoyed so much. The dialogue might still be filled with Lo Wang’s jokes, but compared to its predecessors, the joke is definitely on Shadow Warrior 3 this time.
  58. Feb 28, 2022
That’s the problem with Shadow Warrior 3. For all it’s hay about subversiveness and whacked out combat, there was never a moment during its campaign where I didn’t know exactly what to do, the basic shape of what was to come, and the exact way I’d solve those problems once I got there. The game has a linear, flat trajectory all the way through – and its inability to truly bring its own world to life is a key failure in what could have been a far more charming, interesting experience.

Shadow Warrior 3 is a good old-fashioned first person shooter with a great art design and great action moments.
  2. It feels like Shadow Warrior 3 puts a bigger focus on consistency than complexity. The moment you enter an arena it’s obvious what you can do because the areas all follow the same rules. You can predict where your grappling hook will go, what enemies will appear, and so on. But Shadow Warrior 3 soon stops throwing new challenges your way, and there’s very little to be mastered to sustain your attention till the end. It’s so repetitive that it becomes impossible to avoid confronting its other negative qualities until, as Lo Wang would say, they fill the room like a wet fart.

The combat is amazing and has awesome variety. The gore weapons especially work really well. The movement feels responsive and the controls are very fluid. The level design feels more focused and well emphasized and the environments look great. The voice acting is surprisingly well done especially from Mike Moh as Lo Wang.

The game is unforgivably short. I beat it on medium difficulty in 5 hours. Makes it worse that there are no extra modes besides replaying the campaign and even then you can only start from the beginning. Some of the dialogue and jokes come off more cringe than funny. The story is full of plot holes especially if you like Shadow Warrior 2. The levels are extremely linear with no secrets or extras to find. Certain characters feel underutilized or used only for jokes like Motoko.

Shadow Warrior 3 is more than just a step up from its predecessor – it’s ultimately a different direction that still maintains the series’ penchant for humor and bloodshed. If an action-packed, no-frills first person shooter that doesn’t take itself too seriously sounds like a good time, then this may be worth a look. If nothing else, it’s a fun pit-stop in a year packed with massive experiences.
