El juego no es malo como tal, pero tampoco destaca mucho en lo que es bueno; recomiendo esperar a comprarlo hasta que tenga descuentos y darle una oportunidad así, pero si no te gustan los primeros 30 minutos, no te gustará el resto del juego.

    - controller input on PC sucks (lags, not reacting correctly)

Those 5 levels are about 15 minutes of content. Now you ask me if this game is an hour and a half long, why is it getting positive reviews? A normal game with standard difficulty would get crushed by this small amount of content. But this game is extremely hard. Elden Ring is a piece of cake compared to this game. So you will be redoing levels again and again and again to try to finish them with the least amount of deaths, because your deaths carry over to the next level. When you died to many its game over, back to square one. The only permanent unlocks are moves which are mostly bad and you won't use. Expand

I've heard a lot of arguments about the game's difficulty, but the problem is that the only thing that works in the game is the staging. Everything else is a bunch of lapses in implementation and idea.

Bad: - Price. 40 euros for a 10 hour game with little replayability value. Compare this with Hades a 20 euro game that you can sink probably a hundred hours due to high replayability. - Skill system and progression is confusing. You have to read, memorise and try out 24 different skills while you are still getting the hang out of combat. - Low attacks are rare and unfairly hard to read. You can only dodge only by expecting them after learning enemy attack patterns. - Voice acting feels like they picked out random developers with no voice acting experience. - Boss fights (except last one which was the only fun boss fight imo) play almost identically. Dodge attack patterns, land a couple of hits, focus attack. - Aging and becoming stronger feels more like a gimmick than a core mechanic. The player can actually farm xp to permanently unlock abilities. In my opinion the game should've been a roguelite where you start over from the beginning when you die.

If this was an actual indie game I wouldn't be so critical, but Sloclap had the backing of Sony and Epic games, 60+ employees and previous experience in fighting games. A lot of potential wasted in my opinion, however it can still be an enjoyable experience for a lot of people.

As another said, this is Absolver but less several features. Sloclap never really finished Absolver for that matter. As such this is purely a rebranded product, basically the video game equivalent of an Arby's sandwich or Taco Bell taco. In that regard it's only impressive in that it's not totlly broken.

And it's nothing really special except for this makes the game harder to play while it already has it's own difficulty system without which you would beat the game very fast and forget about it. Developers just decided to make it as hard as they can so you wouldn't notice lack of content while replaying the same levels again and again.

Core mechanics are mostly a clone from the studios first game - Absolver, which they abondoned. And Sloclap Studios attitude to Absolvers community even became a meme. So the developer is not the most reliable too. They haven't added really a lot new in Sifu comparing to their last game, so most probably they won't rework badly done core mechanics such as crowd control too. Also such lazy development doesn't promise any additional free content, which is obviously lacking. Maybe paid DLCs, while the game is still overhyped.

This game is just OK, the mechanic is really interesting (aging) but the developers betrayed their own idea by adding an easy mode that should never have been there.

Crowd control is always a pain when the mechanics are based on your character essentially "locking onto" enemies where it almost feels like your character is magnetically attracted to the enemy when throwing a punch or kick. Other action games don't suffer from this and have way better crowd control such as Devil May Cry and such. God of war (2018) also had this issue where the camera was too zoomed in and Kratos would automatically hone in on enemies making it feel like you are not totally in control. It's weird because the older God Of War games already solved that issue by having a camera and movement/combat system that countered this issue by getting rid of this magnetism.

So aside from the subpar camera and locking on in combat, the combat itself is actually fine. It's really simple and that's exactly where its strength also lies whenever you want to do a certain move it's not too difficult because of the limited combos. This game is perfect for anyone that has ever tried to "perfect" a level and it feels really rewarding.

Some games like the Mario series only have one setting, designed so everyone can have fun and the better players might finish faster or with fewer deaths or a better score.
Some games like the Halo series have multiple difficulty settings, although this can get obnoxious if they don’t let you change difficulties mid-campaign.
Some games, mostly shooters like Halo and Call of Duty, give you regenerating health so the better players can rush forward faster but everyone can get through if they match their pace.
Some games with RPG elements, like Cyberpunk 2077 and God of War 2018, let you farm experience points to progressively lower the difficulty the longer you play and at the same time let you swap out equip-able items to set your own level of difficulty for each fight.
Some games with roguelike elements like Hades randomizes the difficulty each round, but in the background also progressively lowers the difficulty by letting you earn better stats the more you play.

And then there are the Dark Souls’ clones, designed around being as obnoxiously difficult as possible, by restricting checkpoints to the point of frustration and ensuring that the few farm-able resources can all be lost with a single mistake after hours of time invested. In Dark Souls’s case, the difficulty is there to disguise the fact that the gameplay is boring; balance the encounters correctly and you’ll see that the combat system is pathetically simplistic when compared to the modern 3D brawlers.

In Sifu’s case, the obnoxious difficulty is there to disguise the fact that they only made a 3-hour campaign. You can die in single hit or sequence of hits, and you only get to start the next level at the youngest age you beat the last level, so this forces you to replay each level hundreds of times until you perfect it just to get a reasonable chance to beat the next. Additionally, the upgrades are lost unless you sink ridiculous amounts of experience into making them permanent, and experience doesn’t stack or save if you die, so be prepared to waste hours farming only to lose it all to one mistake. This does what it always does in these games, makes you play in the cheesiest least-fun way possible, abusing the environmental mastery skill to kill from afar, making you stack enemies by staircases so they take fall damage, forcing you to memorize each enemies’ location for the safest kill. That there is no way to truly get ahead without a perfect run means that no matter how much time you invest, you might never beat or see even half the game.

The real tragedy is that buried inside is a terrific 3-hour game. The combat scheme is terrific, with multiple interlocking systems. Tapping the block button parries, or holding it and moving the analog stick dodges, creating a tradeoff between risking having your guard broken and taking a hit. You get health only from executions and weapons even up the odds, and crowd management is a tense experience of fast moves vs sweeps and deciding who to focus on. The death system where each respawn makes you have less health but deal more damage balances out the difficulty of that age while at the same ramping up the tension; however the fact that you stay that age after beating a level with no true checkpoint kills all sense of progress.

The most obvious solutions would have been to automatically reset your age at the end of each level, and let experience stack so you didn’t feel like multiple runs were wasted. If the makers had the confidence to release this game at its appropriately paced 3-hour experience, it would have been short but terrific. Instead it’s a terrific one hour experience followed by hours and hours of progressive frustration until you quit. Only two things could save the game: a) someone releases a save game with everything unlocked and every level perfected so I could try out each level at the starting age (although that’s no guarantee you’ll beat the harder levels) or b) the developers actually balance games for more than just the tiny percentage of masochists who play games to not have fun.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sifu is a great video game with only a few flaws bringing it down. The game is the true definition of quality over quantity. I'm glad they didn't sell it on full price cuz that would cause a **** show. The things that confuse me is that short games that cost 50$ or more have existed and very little people actually complained about it. Like Capcom for example created RE 8 which was only 8-10 hours long and it cost 60$. I think the reason these games aren't complained as much is because of its high replayability. Sifu falls into that same category but with a cheaper price. It took me a solid 10 hours to complete the game and it was an absolute blast. As an avid fan of old style martial arts movies, this game truly captured all of that love. The level design is outstandingly good with a great soundtrack. The game only has a total of 5 levels but all of these levels are so diverse and memorable that you would probably visit them again even after finishing. The story might seem very simplistic at first but when you take your time to look at all the clues that were given to you and figure out exactly what happened, that's where the story hits all of its marks. Is it the best story ever made? no, but it is a good enough story that fits and supports the gameplay very well.

My only problems with this game are the following:
    1. The Camera
The camera is just really bad. Just as bad as Sekiro imo. The amount of times I've been stuck in a corner and being able to see nothing is insane. There's also a lack of a quick turn button like in God of War. Since the game's camera is placed right behind your player, you can't see what's behind you and it's a problem since the game wants you to fight multiple foes. Turning the camera around is way too slow to be manageable.

    2. Lady Kuroki's boss design is kinda poor. The game wants you to use weapons to fight her but they never give you any weapons to fight her with. You gotta bring it to her and preserve the weapon's durability and it doesn't feel like the right way to play. It feels like I'm trying to cheese the boss and this could've just been fixed if they had just given me a weapon right before her boss fight. Also, her 2nd phase is much easier than her first, I have no idea why. I don't think bosses are supposed to be like that as a fan of Souls games.

    3. The Tower level has a lot of missed opportunities. It is not a bad level by any means but it is the weakest compared to the rest of them. Imagine being able to fight at the top of the tallest building in the world? Inside the elevator like in Captain America The Winter Soldier? They didn't do any of that which was a missed opportunity.

I've heard people mention that the combat in the game is mid because of its lack of combos. I don't agree with that sentiment at all. Sure the combos might not be as stacked as Tekken or DMC but this is a tight 8-10 hour long game so too much combos would feel misplaced and not fitting. I also think the game could maybe benefit with a style meter like in DMC, that's not a flaw just mentioning something that could maybe work.
Overall, this game is **** great and exceeded my expectations which was already pretty damn high. The hits, animations, sound effects and enemies are so cool and it just feels exactly how it should feel. Definitely one of the best games to be released this year

Best Fighting game ever made. Very demanding sometimes frustrating, but giving a lot of satisfaction after you learn new moves and how to use them in combat. The best part of this game is variety of moves and combos that was extremely well designed. Graphic is simple and plot almost doesn't exist. Last boss was overpowered :-:

The best beat map in my life. The combat system and animations just amazed me with their sophistication. It was like being in a Hong Kong action movie. I liked the art style, as well as the locations worked out to the smallest detail. Trampled snow is simply gorgeous. And even the character's voice and utterances change with age. I really like to walk and look at the details on the levels. Looking at them, you begin to imagine how the inhabitants of the level of their life and daily routine live. Here is a guard at the entrance to the club, and next to him is a table with laid out cards and the game is clearly not finished. Most likely, the partner in the game went to the toilet or for cigarettes. Or the gymnastics coach we fought. He had a gym bag and water bottles next to him. I just imagined how she periodically drank water from them because of the heat and to wet her throat while talking to her audience of students, and then with a bag she goes to change. The music conveys the mood of the locations very well. I hope in addition they will add the ability to choose opponents from those that have already met in the red training room. For example, the bosses that you have already met and mini bosses. Some people say that there are few levels, but I disagree. There are as many levels as there are antagonists. As for me, this is just the golden mean. Better fewer levels, but very elaborate, than many, but empty. There is something to criticize the game for. The camera sometimes turns completely in the wrong direction where I want and I have to periodically fight with it while they beat me. It happens on the wall. I parried and the enemy pushed me to the wall, where I stop seeing him, as well as myself, including. In a game where everything is built on the reaction, this is a problem. The only way out is not to stand against the wall. There are sometimes annoying bugs that will get you stuck on the level. It's doubly disappointing if before that you played better than ever and you have to lose this progress and replay again. It's good that this is very rare and if you understand how it was caused, then you can simply avoid repeating these actions. With the advanced training regimen, I will give it a 10. Hope for Sifu 2 in ancient china. Expand

The aging system was pretty unique too.

The only gripes i have for this game - a few difficulty spikes in some areas which which could have used a bit more balancing (such as the two mini bosses before the 2nd boss, though i believe they've already ironed those two out in an update) & the lack of a chinese VO which would have really increased the immersion factor.

This was the one game that i felt was the closest spiritual successor to God Hand, and Sifu manages to satisfy on a similar experience (Even if the game mechanics were slightly different). For years i have long waited for another beat-em-up brawler in the same vein, so props to the developers for scratching that itch!

    Pro:
+ Incredibly fun and engaging combat system
    + Beautiful art direction
+ OST are also generally good
+ Unlockable shortcuts that are kept on "game over" (rogue-lite mechanic)
+ Interesting death mechanic, with resurrection on the same place
+ There are often multiple ways to face off enemies based on the environment and the skills you've unlocked
    + Possibility to perma-unlock skills
+ The game keeps track of your personal best at each level and lets you restart from there for the next one
    + High replayability
    + Really good fighting animations
    + Audio mixing options
    + Simple photo mode
+ Similar enemies have similar moves, and equal enemies come with two or three faces and different clothes so that they don't look all the same copy-pasted enemy
    + Possibility to remap controls

    Cons:
    - Even though the mechanics are complex, ultimately it is the damage of the enemies that is really unforgiving. That could be decreased to create easier modes so that also less-skilled players can enjoy this beautiful combat system
    - A few bugs, but the noticeable ones are really rare
    - Loading speed is ok, but the short unskippable cinematic at the beginning of each stage and some unskippable dialogues make replaying a level heavier than it should
    - The story could have been deepened a bit more
    - The camera is pure hell, and it will take you multiple hours to understand how to deal with it a bit
    - Camera-related, no manual target options. The game decides who to target and how to keep it in the camera, but it sucks at it
    - Some mechanics are not well-explained
    - Some enemies have trial-and-error attacks, some of which have extremely narrow window of time to recognize them
    - The training room doesn't allow you to change the enemy you're training with from a default one
    - No weapon durability on the HUD
    - You cannot open the detective board from the level selection menu
-The game doesn't allow you to start the level you just reached with your best score instead of the one you currently have. Example: if you finish the first level at age 21 and then replay it and finish it at age 22, the game won't allow you to start level 2 at age 21 instead of 22 until you do a game over first
    - The game doesn't let you decide which one is your best score. For example, I finished level 1 with Age 21 and some abilities, and then I did it again (always age 21) but with different abilities that I wanted more, but the game automatically kept my first result as my best one
    - Even though the resurrection is explained narratively, replaying a level while still having not only the shortcut keys, but also doors unlockable only with keys found in future levels is never dealt with story-wise
    - Being unable to run from enemies in order to rush to a boss is frustrating. Every fight that you encounter is mandatory

    Miscellanous:
    * Some enemies will refill their life when finished with a special animation, unless you use the finisher on them in certain points that trigger a different "killing cinematic", thus preventing the second life of the enemy. I'm still unsure if this is a feature or a bug
    * Unnamed protagonist
    * The game features a combo system similar to a fighting game, which is pretty hard to make the most of if you're not used to it. But in any case, the game can be finished even with basic light/heavy attack combos with not many thinking in them, since the most important thing is not HOW you attack but WHEN and WHO
    * Getting all the achievements/trophies requires to deeply master the game
    * The length of the game is heavily skill-dependent, varying from 5 to 15 hours, and up to 20 or 25 for a more completionist run

Forgettable story and a ridiculous aging mechanic adding artificial difficulty. Sifu sports one of the best combat I've seen in a video game to date but it's sad that the game has no real normal mode, as easy being ridiculously easy and the rest just being as frustrating as any other Souls-like there is. Proceed with caution, the game is not for the casual player.

Sifu is still a solid action game that feels tailor-made for those willing to put in the time to learn the systems. The subsequent patches have opened up the game to more players who lean on either side of the difficulty spectrum, but it remains challenging even if you try to make the game as easy as possible. The main adventure is a more than satisfying romp thanks to the deep fighting system. The new Arenas mode adds loads more life to the game, even if your only interest is seeing which movies get referenced in a given scenario. Players on both the Xbox platforms and Steam are rewarded for their patience with a very good game, while the Arenas mode alone gives owners on other platforms and stores a big reason to return to Sifu.

Sifu gets a lot more right than not, and though I typically can’t stand to play games that force heavy-handed repetitive loops, I found myself enjoying Sifu too much to put it away for long. Playing Sifu is a cycle of emotions; it’s tough, fun, frustrating, and rewarding, not always in that order. I think Sloclap did a solid job overall and I would also point out that the game is priced very reasonably at about $50, too. If you enjoy detailed, authentic martial arts action, Sifu is not only one of the only choices out there, but it’s a great one.
