For such a small indie team, delivering boss fights that can resemble, even slightly, the ingeniousness of From Software’s work is nothing less than highly commendable. Although Sinner can feel a bit bare bones in terms of content it can nevertheless provide a good thrill for boss rush games aficionados or anyone who wants to take part in challenging, albeit fair, battles.

An original, hard and fun action game. It's too short, but it is well designed and its challenges are worth it.

For the type of “boss-rush” game that it is, Sinner does present a unique challenge to its players and allows you to try and learn on the fly after each fight.

As commendable its combat and enemy design may be, Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption‘s reliance on templates and tired tropes inevitably wears down what little (though effective) originality it houses.

While it seems like it's missing a lick of paint to make sure that its aesthetics are as strong as its mechanics, it's still a smart step forward and a good example of how we can pay homage to the beloved works of others with originality.

Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption has potential to be a great action game, but the uninspired design of its enemies and a lack of quality in gameplay mechanics ruin the experience. It's an interesting game, but not the great game that could be.

Good graphics can’t redeem some of the poorer design choices in Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption. A very, very rough take on the Soulsborne formula, Sinner is really only for diehard fans that are truly desperate for something new to cut their teeth on.

It's a challenging boss only game that looks and feels great, the 7 deadly sins concept is fascinating. Does it beat Dark Souls? No. This is an indie game that runs less than $20 and made by a smaller team and I am factoring that into the review. With that said, it is a really good game worth the time if you are a fan of challenging souls like games. There's a lot of replay ability due to multiple endings and an endless boss mode. It's perfect for that quick sit down and hopping right into the action. It's also available on Switch which makes that even more accessible to do on the go! Expand

Its graphics are good enough and its artstyle is fantastic, gameplay mechanics are great and feel almost as good as dark souls, not perfect but still way better than any souls-like i've played. Most Bosses are really challenging and don't make you feel cheated on, but one or two do have some big flaws in their environment and mechanics(the iceberg, lava and swamp bosses). Gameplay is fantastic, being very similar with souls but unique in its own way, only thing is its short. Music is good while story is not that interesting/well presented. Many people seem to say it's flawed but don't present why in their critics and except for 3 especific bosses this game is really fun for a Fromsoft fan like me. If you're not interested in dying multiple times to a boss then this game is not for you. Plus its a great indie game. Expand

The boss design is the only thing i can compliment about this game, but everything else from the combat to graphics and story just lack. the background is always a blurry mess and the controls seem kind of unresponsive times. My biggest gripe with the game is how the aim system and camera works, you have 0 control of the camera at all times, even when not locked on, and your character wont swing at what your locked onto unless you manually turn around at the enemy. For certain bosses the camera needs to be better, for the greed boss fight I didn't know there was an OFF SCREEN HOUSE that you can rest on to avoid getting poisoned, i only discovered this when trying to throw myself off the map, and apparently that house is detrimental to the fight, thank god its off screen though. its a shame to see a good concept go to such waste. I have played many games of this type, but this one put me off from the very beginning with its sluggish and unpleasant controls. I thoughtI have played many games of this type, but this one put me off from the very beginning with its sluggish and unpleasant controls. I thought okay, you can get used to it, but it was not the end. Before each fight, you have to sacrifice some of your stats or inventory goods, and... attention! ...after the fight, it stays in such condition. That's mean, the closer to the last boss - the weaker! you become. The game tells you from the very beginning that it is for the most ardent lovers of suffering and pain. For ordinary players who can gradually learn to overcome difficult games like Sekiro (like me), such a game is not an interesting test, but an uncomfortable, crooked self-torture. And the price is not very suitable to motivate for changing your mind. So... To hell that.
In general, I put the maximum red rating only for the implementation of the "boss rush" idea. It can be more interesting than the plot when you are looking exclusively for battles with strong and interesting bosses. For everything else - 0 points. So 4 out of 10.

Plus the devs ban people from steam forums for expressing their opinion, then proceed to mock those people on twitter. I will quote them here, after I asked why they themselves were being toxic and mocking people when they themselves complained about it, they said " It is my game, it is my forum, I can do what I want, I am the law " when they are only there to enforce steam guidelines and not censor people giving their opinion in a civil manner.
