This well-made adaptation of the board game will your brain a hell of a time with its tactical options. Unfortunately, it suffers from a lack of interest from players in multiplayer. You can hardly play without your own friends. [Issue#291]

Space Hulk Tactics is a splendid conversion of the tabletop game. New mechanics, high production values and a ton of content and modes make this version the must-have for all the ‘aficionados’ of the series.

If the developers move quickly, Space Hulk: Tactics might yet be the best strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. For now, the grim darkness of the far future is still grim and dark -- and not in a good way.

After many years, finally Space Hulk: Tactics represents a transposition as faithful as possible of the original board game. The two campaigns of Space Marine and Genestealer aren’t very long, but they allow the players to familiarize with the game mechanics, and they tell stories that are consistent with the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. There are a few bugs to report, but the fans of WH40K should not miss the title developed by Cyanide Studio.

Though its glacial pace certainly won't be for everyone, Space Hulk: Tactics offers up a substantial helping of enjoyable turn-based tactical gameplay with two distinct and well designed factions in the hostile but compelling Warhammer 40k setting.

The Space Marine campaign has some really cool ideas that help it not feel like you’re just hitting “Next Mission” over and over. It’s just a bummer that the controls get in the way of me being able to truly dive in and enjoy it, like having to eat a really nice Thanksgiving pie with just a spatula.

Space Hulk: Tactics is an intriguing TBS for everyone have played the board game. Some little tuning on AI and mission design would have made this game great.

Cyanides Space Hulk is close to the board game, but suffers from sluggish control and too short a campaign. Best played against a buddy.

I feel like fans of tile-based tactical games and fans of Warhammer 40K will enjoy this entry into the series. With visually appealing designs, Cyanide Studios did a wonderful job with bringing the dark atmosphere of the Blood Angels vs Genestealers to life. Topped up with fairly decent voice work, a solid game design, good writing and a plethora of things to do, Space Hulk: Tactics has got a lot of things right. With working out a few kinks, and hopefully a more active online presence, you’ll certainly be getting your monies worth for this title.

Tatics is a good turn-based strategy game Warhammer fans will love. It could've used a campaign with more focus on the narrative to keep us more engaged, though.

Be warned: you will need to invest a lot of time into each match but each win you can truly feel, while each loss hits you right in the gut. Fans of Space Hulk and Warhammer 40k alike should find themselves fully at home in the fresh take on the series.

It would be perfect turn based stratdgy and the best version of Space Hulk. But horrible AI and a swarm of bugs drag this space marine down.

The new addition to the Space Hulk franchise is doing justice to the name it carries, with well designed campaigns, decent presentation and addictive gameplay. On the downside, the implementation of the Cards nearly breaks the game, making it repetitive and very slow.

If this is your first go at Space Hulk it is an excellent place to start but you have to be willing to learn to walk again as it takes no prisoners.

True to the world of Warhammer 40.000, Space Hulk: Tactics is a cool tactical-RPG but it never surprised us, because of its many very classical mechanics.

Problems with the game’s performance and lackluster AI, along with matchmaking issues which I’ve personally experienced mar an otherwise promising outing. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war and a Tyra-need to polish Space Hulk: Tactics further.

Space Hulk: Tactics is an intelligent strategy game that offers deep and satisfying mechanics. The Warhammer 40.000 universe is well represented and the atmosphere is a beautiful love letter to every Warhammer's fan in the the world. Despite this, the game has some annoying bugs and frustrating loading times.

Way more interesting than it's cousin Space Hulk: Deathwing, Space Hulk Tactics stays true to the mechanics of the board game while peppering it with a cleaver system of cards. Overall it's still a niche game made on a budget, but it performs as required.
  20. Oct 15, 2018
Space Hulk: Tactics is perhaps the only game inspired by Games Workshop tabletop to reproduce the reference material in a rather faithful and complete way.

Fans of WH40K board games will probably enjoy this video game. Fans of computer strategy games should probably buy Valkyria Chronicles 4 instead.

  1. It’s frustrating that for all the improvements, Space Hulk: Tactics still trips over the same things as Full Control’s Space Hulk and Space: Hulk Ascension. It’s too slow, and the interface is far too fiddly for a game that punishes even tiny mistakes.
