You can't play and enjoy Stolen like it's another action game off the shelf at all, and that's going to understandably rankle some traditionalists.
It's a Zen-like stealth game busted by wibbly AI, making it an ambitious take on the genre, but one that's too flawed to fulfil its sizeable promise. [Xbox World]
It isn't an awful, broken, unplayable mess or anything; it's just not a particularly outstanding game in any regard. Competent and generic spring to mind as soon as you start playing, but it borrows enough of the right elements to make it playable.

Anemically lackluster gameplay and hideously sparse graphics do this game absolutely no service.
It's a game populated by animatronic mannequins, its plot driven by flat, unsympathetic characters. Worse, the dumb AI destroys any sense of danger, so the tension that runs through great stealth games never materializes.
A grubby looking, badly conceived and hastily programmed game that does nothing for the genre except add unnecessary limitations. [Apr 2005, p.110]
