Superhot VR is built upon a one-of-a-kind bullet-time mechanic that translates phenomenally well to VR. After a slow start, you'll find that the game is part action and part puzzle, as you dodge incoming firing in slow motion while finding the most effective way to shatter your enemies. The core gameplay is challenging and enjoyable, though it comes up just short of hitting a masterful climax of game mechanics. The story elements are mostly distractions, and, like many of the best VR experiences, we're left wishing there was more than the 2 or so hours of gameplay available. [Tested with Oculus Touch]

I can’t stress how much fun SUPERHOT VR is when you become fully immersed… it’s like being able to be both John Wick and Neo at once. You can have your cake, eat it, and then be offered seconds.

SuperHot VR is one of the best games VR has seen yet. It’s a little bit short and on rare occasions the AI goes a bit loopy, but during the 99% of the time when everything is trying to kill you, it’s an incredible rush.

Superhot VR’s fantastically clever time-manipulating concept empowers you with the superhuman reflexes of a slow-motion action hero. Shattering waves of glass-like enemies while moving your face out of the path of incoming bullets is a thrilling challenge in both the cryptic story mode and the endless mode that follows.

Superhot VR is one of the few VR games that you have absolutely to play thanks to the intriguing concept of time manipulation and to the perfect utilization of VR mechanics.

Ultimately, SUPERHOT VR feels more like the ultimate tech demo than a fully-fledged VR essential. Its gameplay is incredibly engaging, and it’s a perfect title to introduce someone to the capabilities of the Quest, but its runtime is rather short if you’re purchasing it just for yourself. There is replay value in the post-game modes, but you’re more likely to relive the magic by introducing SUPERHOT VR to someone else.

This is what it feels like to be Neo in The Matrix. The simple but amazing surroundings combined with the original principle that time only changes when you move, makes Superhot an amazing experience.

The mechanics are easy to learn, and it only needs a standing play area as opposed to room scale, so you can still play it if you don't have a lot of space. It is definitely one of my favourite VR games that I own. Just one extra thing I'd like to mention: Make sure that you're in the exact center of your play area if you don't have much space, and check the play area marker on the floor every now and then, because I've hit my desk a few times while playing. I don't understand why can't I see a list of games that I've rated on this site. Why do I have to write a review for a game to show in my games list?

Did you ever wanted to feel like Neo in the Matrix? Ok, buy.
This is exactly the feeling you get when playing Superhot in VR. You control time, you can watch bullets flying by, you can grab a pistol passing by and kill a guy with it during the same second. Awesome.
The game is quite short, but it wouldn't have done much good to have more levels without adding new mechanics, but this game doesn't need more.

One problem in SuperHot is the difficulty to throw things. Many VR games have this problem, but some have not this problem. Take The Lab by Valve for example, in which throwing the stick to the dog is so easy you didn't even have to think about how to do it. In SuperHot, you have to guess how it is implemented to throw something correctly.
Another problem is the environment geometry, which does not correspond to the colliders, and it can be really frustrating, when a bullet I shot gets stopped in mid-air because of bad collision meshes.

I would also have loved to have a replay capacity, to show in real-time how I killed the red dudes like in a John Woo movie.

Oh, and be careful that there are no Ming vases or flat screens lying around. You could be sad after playing an immersive session of the game.

    The Full Review
    ==============

Superhot VR is not a copy of the original Superhot with added VR, it is in fact it's own game and story. That being said the story in both Superhot games is abstract and mostly hinting at things that might be going on.

Superhot VR's graphics and sounds are unique and abstract also, but they work really well in the context of the gameplay. A minimalist style allowing you to simply focus on the slow motion. The break sequences between combat use a more detailed art style but this lets you realise you are entering and exiting a game within a game.

The gameplay itself is the selling point of superhot and whilst it will take you a little while to adjust to not moving around unless you want time to move, once you adjust it is that exact feature that immerses you fully into the world, you feel more and more like it is real as you go on which only helps to convey the points the plot is trying to make.

As far as comfortability goes, the game uses a fixed position with no movement at all, it will however require you to grab things far away, crouch and dodge bullets so a medium to large play space is recommended.

The mechanics of the game are easy to pick up, grabbing, throwing, shooting and dodging all come naturally to you and you find yourself getting faster and more accurate as you play. Some moves such as throwing knives or bottles can be tricky to aim, but if you pull it off the satisfaction in gameplay is amazing.

On my rig the game ran 100% perfectly with no slowdown or stuttering, I didn't notice any tearing, lag, or obvious bugs or broken features as I was playing through the whole game, very well executed.

Overall I would recommend this game fully to anyone who has a PC VR system, even if you have played the normal Superhot this game will surprise you and the gameplay feels super immersive.

Making time move when you do in VR is such a neat and fun concept to mess around with. And once you get good with the controls it can easily make you feel like a badass as you play. I do wish there was more though the main campaign is on the short side and there isn't a ton of side content other then what is basically a survival horde mode. Along with the high price tag that the game comes makes it a bit challenging to recommend. If your interested I recommend trying out the free demo like I did and then seeing if its worth it for you.
