    Optimization issues aside, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is a solid entry in to the SAO game series. Inviting visuals, recognizable characters, and action packed battles await those willing to put in the time to get past chapter one.

    With an expansive main campaign that takes far too long to get started and quite a few underdeveloped mechanics, this Sword Art game is a tough sell for anyone but the most dedicated fans.

    Most games will attempt to “hook” you within the first couple of hours — this includes RPGs with run-of-the-mill introductory and fetch quests — combined with epic moments and multiple concepts. In Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris‘ case, those epic moments and engaging concepts happened far too little too late, and you had no choice but to sit through hours of banal and monotonous linearity.

    Despite its technical mishaps which has been acknowledged and will receive a patch soon (FPS and input lag) this game is huge! Deep customization of skills, arts, etc. combat is strategic. Not too fast and not too slow. Timing is key. The story so far is great. It follows the anime for the first chapter (prologue) and then branches into its own original story. After the first chapter the games opens way up. Graphics are great. Best SAO game to date and a solid JRPG on its own merits.… Expand

    I got the game on PC.

    The game is pretty and it's fun however there are some pretty drastic fps issues and game features that are broken    I got the game on PC.

    The game is pretty and it's fun however there are some pretty drastic fps issues and game features that are broken like the records and the extremely long load times. The MP and Character creator are gated behind finishing Chapter 1 which can take 10-15 hours. You will spend a good chunk of time to get through the cut scenes. So if cut scenes aren't your thing you may be lost in the story since its the game verse and not canon after chapter 1 but you can skip them

    Personally, the combat felt somewhat flashy but slow compared to the other games but it still seems interested. Hopefully, once records (AI) are fixed on PC it will be a better combat experience. Cut scenes for Enhanced Armament and Release are cool but the cut scenes get old really fast during combat.

    Hold off on buying and see what the patch fixes performance and gameplay-wise. Other than that wait for a sale as in its current state for PC it's not worth the 60 dollars    … Expand
