A worthy (and free) successor to Life is Strange, and an intriguing teaser for the full sequel. Dontnod have improved on most accounts and look to draw in new fans with this prologue.

If The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit cost a bit of money, we’d still highly recommend it. The fact that it’s totally free means it’s elevated to a must-play, even if you have no plans on playing Life Is Strange 2 - and if you’re considering it, play this now. Any minor quibbles we might have, like some interactive points not being obvious, drop away when you remember that it’s free.

Like with past entries, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit shines brilliantly when it focuses on its story. This episode is as saddening as it is charming, and it balances the two magnificently while making sure to include moments of suspense and mystery.

Life is Strange gained a huge cult following, and whether you're a veteran or a newcomer, Captain Spirit captures a lot of the original game's appeal.

Even though The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is more a Life is Strange 2's pre-purchase commercial than a decent complete game, it's cozy and satisfying to play because of great environmental storytelling, vivid characters, and interesting explore experience.

A very short, but lovingly narrated adventure, skillfully combining serious and funny topics.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a mediocre adventure game, even though it’s free-to-play. However, if you are a fan of Life is Strange series, it can very well serve as an appetizer for Life is Strange 2.

Put yourself in the shoes of a 10-year old kid called chris, that uses its imagination due to its recent mother death, in game, you control him, it's normal, but in the end, it's magical. Recomended, because, it's FREE!, so nothing bad its here.

It had the tears out of me only 40 minutes in. For such a small game it's filled with a lot of amazing and subtle details that really add to the general feel of the game. The graphics are an eye candy. Noticeably better than the previous games.

9/10 for using Denuvo on a free game.

Great story, a little short and limited but, without spoiling anything, it serves it's purpose.

Coming off the amazing Life is Strange and Before the Storm, we now have a teaser of sorts getting us ready for Life is Strange 2 which recently released episode 3 of 5 so this game has been out over a year now and I must say it didn't do a good job getting me interested for season 2's release.

The graphics have been much improved over the previous games but it's a far less interesting story and playing as a small 8-10 year old boy, his interactions with the world can be lost on the older generations (like me though I found it mildly entertaining) and those that don't have a hyper active imagination but I do get it's charm which I know some players will love.

His family dynamic is both believable and tragic but the interesting dialogue options were few and far between and just not engaging enough and at the time, wanted them to be over just to progress the story and get back to the slightly mundane tasks this kid has set himself to relieve the boredom of the day. Shame he seems to offset some of that boredom on to me.

You'll get about 2 hours out of this game which by the end, just didn't do it's job in getting me interested for Season 2 or anything involving this kids world, but being a big fan of the original series, it has massive shoes to fill and I feel that's not too much to ask and I'm not feeling it here but it is trying and going in it's own and new direction.

I do recommend this but mainly because it's free and does follow the narrative choice based game I crave but even though this "teaser" is free, just wasn't enough.
