Van Helsing, a larger-than-life hero possessing a dark yet romantic charm, will follow his path to the dismal land of Borgovia where former supernatural foes have enlisted his help to defeat a new scourge terrorizing the ravaged Eastern European city. With an assortment of extraordinary characters, an engrossing storyline, and a beautifully dark and gothic art style, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing looks to bring RPG enthusiasts an anachronistic adventure like no other. Neocore Games should be commended for putting out such a high-quality experience where their story is equally outlandish, silly and serious – I’m personally looking forward to the recently announced sequel.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing is a surprisingly enchanting ARPG from an incredibly talented team. Neocore has originally implemented all the core hack 'n' slash mechanics typical of the genre combining quality and quantity, form and substance, single and co-op play, at an incredibly advantageous and affordable price.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing was a treat, and hopefully, we’ll be able to have more in the future.

The Incredible Adventures of van Helsing is a really nice surprise. The game has a unique gothic atmosphere, a well designed character development system, dynamic combat, storyline with decisions to make and some tower defense elements. Unfortunately there are some errors and issues - a silly economy model and weak epic items, for instance. Still - Van Helsing isn't a game visibly worse, than other hack'n'slashes out there. If you like gothic mixed with strange machines, it's worth checking out.

    A surprisingly charming way of wasting 15 hours. [CD-Action 08/2013, p.76]

You’ll find some great ideas here, and players who prefer Diablo 2 to its sequel will certainly love Helsing’s emphasis on character customization. But the story fails to elevate the familiar action to anything special. Mechanically, this is a great action RPG, but it lacks heart.

Van Helsing starts out slow and takes a while to get not terrible.

I've never been more surprised by a game- for $13, I didn't expect an experience rivaling (and surpassing!) top-dollar ARPG's.

Van Helsing is my new hobby, and fixation- I highly advise letting it become yours.

Don't get confused though,A great atmosphere combined with some excellent enviroment details, is really something that deserves some credit. Don't get confused though, the game has its flaws. The game is really cheap, and that taken into consideration, the standard is fairly high.

I've made a list to sum up the things I've noticed after around 5 hours of gaming.

    Pros:
-- Has a tendency of making you "want to play more".
    -- Very detailed enviroment.
-- The ghost Katarina replaces the pet from Torchlight. She adds more life to the game, and you can adapt her abilities to your requirements.
    -- Price!

    --- Cons:
-- Lack of impact noice when attacking.
    -- Combat seems slightly repetative.
-- The "powerups" to your skills in the skill tree is relatively "boring". For example, adding +50% damage is one of the 3 powerups that is repeated in all of the skills. Some more interesting powerups would have been prefered.

Overall, great game but with a few fixes here and there, it'd be even better.

For the price, this would make an excellent entry to the genre for those on the fence.

There are only two flaws that comes to mind some of the voice acting and script of some of the characters are a bit cringe worthy and the lack of character selection/customization, more then made up for imo by the partnership of your character the titular Van Helsing and his charming companion the Lady Katarina.

Stat system is simple, not necessarily bad. Skill balance is awful, and being able to buff a skill eternally doesn't help this. "powerup"Stat system is simple, not necessarily bad. Skill balance is awful, and being able to buff a skill eternally doesn't help this. "powerup" skills and rage - what were they thinking. You can only use 2 skills with powerups, unless you want to bother tabbing. Managing rage is easy, but ultimately a pointless mechanic. Visually, the game is a pain, and this wouldn't be so bad if it's easy to read your hp and mana... seriously, i have good peripheral vision but for the **** life of me this game is such a **** chore just because it's horrible visually. Game isn't optimized... your gpu will get raped if you don't play thaumaterge. Certain mobs mana drain... wtf this isn't path of exile where you want to avoid certain content. Random loot forging is **** terrible. Throw 5 rares together, even though you choose the type, it can be an item FOR A DIFFERENT CLASS... such a **** waste of time. poe is better, it has better depth, better to chill and essentially mostly has the same skills with better effects, performance and gameplay.
