The best add-on for The Sims 3 so far. Pets bring a lot of extra playability. Pet lovers hardly find anything better to play. Unicorn included! [Dec 2011]

The innovations, the realistic depiction of animals and the cuteness make this addon an absolute must-buy for The Sims 3 fans.

Who doesn't love animals? Judging by the fact that every edition of the Sims franchise has received a pet-themed expansion, everybody loves a furry friend. Cats, dogs and horses are let loose in the new residential area of Appaloosa Plains. Pets shake up a Sim's life, but the expansion pack feels very familiar to all Sims players. But if you still enjoy your life in Sunset Valley, there's no reason to turn your back on Pets. [Nov 2011]

While The Sims 3: Pets won't convert new players to the Sims Franchise it's an absolute must have for fans. The pets are a really nice addition to the gameplay and the new neighborhood also add some nice stuff like the ranch or the dog park.

The best thing that happened to The Sims 3 since the game's launch. A must-have for all the fans. [December 2011, p.92]

Proof that EA hasn't run out of ideas for new creative content just yet.

Horses and controllable cats and dogs give The Sims 3: Pets a good deal of heart.

Pets is worth the admission price. It's a must have for animal lovers and you get a lot of cute animals and a new skill for your character.

Pets puts the series and franchise back on track and continues to make its virtual worlds even more fleshed out. As always, this expansion isn't going to make any non-Sims player a convert, but if you're still enjoying your digital families, this is a good expansion to pick up.

The most detailed Pets expansion for the series. Horses, in particular, are an exciting inclusion. [Jan 2012, p.60]

Although EA hasn't surely revolutionized the game's core concept, The Sims 3: Pets proves to be an engaging and fun expansion that will surely entertain any fan of the franchise.

If you are a The Sims-fan this is a no-brainer and you probably already playing this. For the rest of us, not already commited to this game, the expansion adds to the already massive micro management of The Sims 3 which in turn disturbs the flow of the game and at times becomes rather tedious, almost a chore. Don't let the cute furballs fool you, this is The Sims 3 and if your not into this game before then this expansion, solid as it may be, will not make you a believer.

This incarnation of Pets is mostly retread of what was introduced in animal-themed expansions for The Sims 1 and 2. The developers simply expanded on some ideas and trimmed a few annoying shortcomings.

While fun, it certainly does notI've been a fan of The Sims for over a decade, and this flavor of expansion has always been my favorite. While fun, it certainly does not excuse the cost; it's priced like a full game, called an expansion, and has the content of a $15 DLC. I'd highly recommend only buying this game on sale or when the price drops because, other than the price, pets in The Sims are really fun. Full Review »

Then why the hell is it $39.99?! Thats $10 more than the original game.... Why should you have to pay more for something that could have been added to the game in the first place, and pay more than the original game. EA needs to serioulsy check themselves. Full Review »
