Is the first Thief I played, I played for almost 2 hours and loved the atmosphere, the gameplay, everything is perfect . You can choose the difficulty , I chose normal and it's still a little hard to steal things without being noticed, you have to think before what you're doing and keep an eye on the movement of soldiers. The graphics are not spectacular, but they are beautiful. I ran the game with everything max, filters, etc, at 1920x1080 and rolled flat, the FPS ranged between 50 and 60. It took me almost 2 hours to get past the first mission , exploring every corner to steal as much as possible and trying not to be detected, which made me take more. About the negative reviews, including the "big sites", I was not disappointed to read before playing, and now I played I'm not unrepentant, as I said, I loved the game and I recommend for you that enjoy a good first-person stealth game. Ignore the reviews, play and give your own conclusion. That's it.… Expand

This is simply amazing. The atmosphere, the controls, everything is just amazing. I have not played any of the predecessors, but I will say, playing on Master Thief game-mode makes the AI extremely realistic. Keep in mind you are apparently the master shadow looking thief.… Expand

So good to play a real sneak em up again, if the guards find you? they will kill you, it give real tension and makes the game. Far to many "sneaky" games are really just beat em ups in disguise. This isn't, trying to make it through an entire level without any detections, amassing a small fortune in the process, solving the games main quests etc etc. Its just very well done. Love it.… Expand

I liked that they had the guy who did voice acting in Mass Effect 3 (the sniper alien can't remember his name now) as the guy who voiced Garrett, even though he wasn't the original voice of Garrett(?)
I was just a tiny bit disappointed that the general look of it seemed not too far removed (except in quality, which was pretty outstanding) from the previous Thief games, and I have to say that I didn't really like the plot either, but I did enjoy playing this one. The FMV sequences were able to be skipped - which having gone through the in-game movie of Tomb Raider I was pretty pleased about - but I still watched them all once just to get the idea of what the story was.
I thought it was a very polished effort, great graphics, loved the particle effects and the lighting on this one. Didn't like having to shift the same plank of wood every now and then, and don't think my keyboard appreciates having to mash a key to open a window, but it wasn't too far removed from what could be expected.
It's not excellent to the nth degree, but it's definitely worth getting hold of.
I think the only thing I wasn't too happy about was the light gem - whereas in the original you had a purple/blueish hue around Garrett when he was in shadow, we now have a little gem in the corner that seems to only go from white to grey to black in three very short steps. I didn't really like that little bit about it, but generally, the game was fun to play and I would recommend Thief fans play it if they haven't already.… Expand

Linear levels, mantling only on few pre-set points and constant handholding make this unworthy of the Thief name. Go play The Dark Mod or Dishonored, both games that are much more closer to the original classics.… Expand

You can't jump in many silly places or use rope arrows to go back for loot. Then ropes are placed by developer in many stupid places sometimes in front of guards. You must repeat levels many times. Even this can't help because you have counter for all loot to whole level and you don't know where to look. It's really frustrating. Maybe if you do not want to look for loot this game is for you but for me this is most important thing. And this is just first level !!!! I don't want to look further and lose my nerves. Game have many good things but the most important are broken. Sound is broken too. Many things you can't hear at all or you hear a person in building miles away from you and you thinks that person is standing in front of you. Sound is looping suddenly or disappears.… Expand

A strong in game world
A protagonist with a strong personality
A challenging open map level system that makes exploration and stealth important.

The remake developers became angry when asked if they were gonna maintain the game world, claiming they removed many classical elements because they did not want to be compare with the old game.
They also ruined the protagonist portraying him as a imbecile ... like, Gareth whole persona was greed and cynicism, the new Gareth is... not that. Not to mention they refused the get the original voice actor and lied on why.
Not content with having ruined the soul of the game they decided to replace the huge open world level maps with a stupid claustrophobic hub system and the levels are horribly linear.

This game is too generic to attract new players and its too dumb down to attract the Thief series fans.… Expand
