For the price it is… I wouldn’t even say wait for a sale, I’d just say buy this game… it will challenge you, it will pull at your heart strings… but I think, especially in this day and age, we need games like this to remind us to care for one another and to point out what is really important.

There is no hero in shining armor, you don’t even know what the soldiers are fighting for. What matters are you and your bitter fight for survival. Every day is a struggle against hunger, disease loneliness and loss of hope. Relentlessly and without judging 11Bit Studios show the dark side of armed conflicts, the suffering, the scars. It is a software monument against war – brilliant.

This War of Mine focuses on civilians rather than armed soldiers. It is extremely refreshing even though the game shows the dreadful constituents of war. With a dense atmosphere and an impressive depth, this is one of the decade's most important cultural experiences.

A stark statement about war delivered through deftly designed stealth survival and resource management. Important, but unrelentingly cruel.

The slow pace can make it less tempting to try again right away with a different tactic, but perhaps that’s for the best.

A bizarre, intense, brave, different game. It's got some issues, but if you're looking for an intelligent and peculiar game, you should give it a try.

The game is dripping with pathos, but I couldn’t invest myself emotionally in it, because it all just feels fake. [01/2015, p.42]

Unlike the glorified COD which, incidentally, is funded by the US military. Go figure! Basically, war is hell. And so is this game. Its a struggle most of the time. And you have to scrape and save and muster and manage. And it is, quite honestly, very satisfying. Cross walking dead with a good strategy title and you pretty much have it. Well played developers. Picked it up for £3 on steam and im hooked. And so much replayability. I am a fan! Well done! Expand

You will also get killed easily when raiding inhabited buildings, so don't bother getting into any skirmishes until you've got some firepower, and even then favour trade and thievery over direct contact. However, stealing will have a negative effect on your mood. The other survivors out there are extremely paranoid and can turn on you quickly if you act suspiciously or annoy them. This game it intense, original, graphically gorgeous and will keep you coming back again and again as you know deep down how it's all going end up - in total carnage Expand

Been busy with it ever since! At first I took this game as a gimmick, knowing about a concept since maybe April I perceived it as a very nice twist with a huge question mark for gameplay, replayability and actual story. While I still think that the devs a bit exaggerate their 'grieve' approach to war, casualties and such, I must say they have delivered an addictive game with strong mechanics. You've got crafting here, you've got exploring, time management, character developing so to speak, you've got resource management and a bit of randomness that adds a nice spice to the mix. So after a while you tend to forget all this bleak and suffering, and just enjoy your achievements, make bonds with characters, just immerse in the world and enjoy it. Especially I liked how the story is told: not to fast, you really focus on details, sharpen your attention, and enjoy small carefully polished details of the concept. Well done 11 Bit! Expand

I am a big fan of this game and will do my best to provide a spoil free review of this game:

Graphics: This is one of the weaker areas of the game for me. Saying that though I will also say that the art direction is good. It serves the purposes of the game well and works well with the game play of the game. I will say that overall it works very well. 7/10

Gameplay: The Gameplay is really strong. It is a real time based strat game. I like it a lot. But I am usually pulled to these types of games. The fact that the choices you make in the game tie in strongly to the story work very well. And I enjoy it that the gameplay does tie in to the story. 8/10

Story: This is the strongest point of the game to me. It does a wonderful job of portraying the story, and the ideas of the game. When you make choices it effects a lot in the game. And the choices are made within the moment of game play. Which I really enjoy. So sometimes you end up making choice even though you may not mean to, but I think that truly adds to the atmosphere. 10/10

Sound: The sound design is really strong as well. It bleeds into the enviornment. It is one of the few games in which I do not turn the music off in order to watch netflix on my second monitor. And this is saying a lot. 9/10

Overall: 8.5/10 One of the top 10 games I've played in the last year. Which is saying a lot. If you like games that portray a strong moral objective, or are more 2d strat based, I highly recommend!

The most depressing war-sim game you'll ever play. It's a fantastic experience.

From the art to the game play to the music, 'grim' was appropriately rehashed over and over throughout the game. I greatly appreciated the challenge the game presented through its game-play, especially if you're planning to be a moral paragon. Given the harsh reality of war, adherence to one's morals is no doubt difficult, thus creating the difficulty within the game.

Furthermore, even if you do decide to abandon your morality in favour of the easy way out, your characters are 'real', 'ordinary' people who WILL be impacted by your decisions. However, at the same time, deciding to stay true to your morals doesn't always bring you the food and materials you require to survive. So what do you do to make it to the end? That's what this game is about, and that's what makes it challenging.

Personally, I love challenges, and I enjoyed the art and music, so even though I must confess the game got somewhat boring and repetitive by the later stages, I still deem it good overall.

Additionally, there is some replayability, largely due to the randomised starting party and time period (Summer or Winter) and even a randomised map, all of which will have repercussions on how you will be playing (to some extent).

    --

That said, I have several gripes about the game. The music. Unless I'm mistaken, there are probably only about two distinctive tracks played and replayed throughout. While the grimness of the music and the art style is a wonderful fit, I don't approve of repeating the music over and over. There are events that characterize certain days, so why not make a different theme to fit those days rather than to simply reuse the same theme?

I do believe more crafting options would be much appreciated. Perhaps, to be in keeping with reality, there could be a character that is some kind of handyman, and these new crafting options have to be discovered through design schematics, or something. Naturally that requires a new location, like a factory of some sort. A possibility that could have been explored, but too bad it didn't appear here.

Also do note this about the 'randomized' point above. As far as 'random' goes, I don't think there are many possibilities, so after a few tries, you'll begin to recognize some of these events. I suppose there's a limit to how many possibilities they could create after all.

All in all, this is something I would recommend, only if you're fine with the game play. As far as game play goes, it's largely the challenge of making the right decisions to make sure your characters survive. Other than that, it's point-and-click your way to victory (or death). I would strongly encourage you to check out gameplay videos before making any purchase.

Вообщем игру делали поехавшие леваки, которые на войне никогда не были. Ниочем.
