Wonderlands is upbeat and fun from start to finish, offering a rewarding adventure filled with goofy characters, imaginative bosses, and a great sense of ownership over your character through it all. Even with one of Borderlands' most loved characters leading the charge, this experience feels like the start of something new: a rare spinout from an existing series that deserves just as much of the spotlight. As someone who has played plenty of Dungeons & Dragons, I adored how often Wonderlands reminded me of rolling a 20-sided die with friends. It’s a love letter to on-the-spot creativity and friends enjoying each other’s company in a make-believe world.

Once you tally up the new and the old, there's really not that much "new" about Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, or at least not new in terms of innovation. Cascading loot and relentless humor check the Borderlands boxes, but instead of coming up with totally new elements, all it had to do was shift things around and finally let us create a character. Future Borderlands experiences may not be set in fantasy settings of this kind, but they should at least look to adopt in some ways the fanciful and varied nature of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
  3. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is the closest any game developer has come to recreating Dungeons & Dragons. There are plenty of games that share similar combat mechanics to D&D. But what “Wonderlands” focuses on — and nails — is the feeling of actually sitting around a table playing D&D: moments of chaos when a dungeon master has mere seconds to improvise a way forward for their players; times when teams throw a good plan out the window, but it all works out in the end; the fiery arguments that might overtake a group of friends just trying to have fun; the feeling of knowing what jokes will land with your dungeon master and which ones won’t.

Wonderlands is a funnier and more focused version of its predecessors.

An entertaining and silly mix of fantasy and shooting, with a great cast making up for a slight lack of variety.

On paper, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands seems like it would be a great escape from the usual looter shooter game fans have come to know over the years. As a Borderlands game, it delivers one of the best RPG experiences to date with plenty of customization options and loot to discover. Its pacing, design choices, and repetitive structure, however, hold it back from being so much more than just a fantasy spin-off.

For all Tina's spirited efforts as dungeon master, every aspect of the Borderlands experience is showing its age. The next instalment needs more than dismal puns and wonky guns if it's to avoid being the butt of the joke. [Issue#371, p.112]

Stunning levels and most importantly endgame at launch. Guns are re-skinned yet, they still feel different.

Great music, gorgeous zones, fully fleshed out side quests, the best end game a borderlands game has ever had, super fun character customization and overall was a blast for me.

I was worried about the overworld being a chore but they definitely pulled it off, since it's one of the best feature of Wonderlands imo. The game is shorter than other Borderlands game, probobly due to covid stuff as they quoted during the credits at the end of the game, but I don't think it's a bad thing, Borderlands 3 for example felt way too long and this one felt much better.

Don't be bothered about all that ''woke **** people are complaining about, it really isn't that bad, you can make a male or female character if you want, people are straight out lying and dialogue wasn't lgbdq+ woke whatever. Sure there were some bits and things here and there but if you seriously can't enjoy the fun dialogue and this game just because the guy got a more ''queer'' accent, sure, skip to the next game. I really felt like this game was made out of passion and all this didn't bothered me at all.

The only two things that prevent me for making this a 10/10 is the online is currently messed up, you get disconnected all the time so let's hope they fix this soon enough. Also, even though I enjoyed the story and dialogue as a first playthrough, going through all this over again with other characters would really drag this out, there should be an option to skip.

The writing and overall feel for it is better than B3 was but it became frustrating about midway through and toward the end. Gameplay wise it's a fun shoot and loot, except 90% of the drops that are "epic" in rarity are customizations. I ended up using the same weapon for the first half of the game, then found a new one that was slightly better and used that for the second half of the game. Writing wise, I would like to see a Tiny Tina game or expansion where her character arc isn't "I'm depressed and lonely". There could have been more development from the first DLC in BL2 for her. Voice acting was on point, Ashley, Andy, and Wanda did a great job in their roles in the game. Overall I gave this a 4 for frustrating gameplay and lack of weapon/loot diversity. Bonus: If you're going to give me an option to hold a button down to scroll through the end game credits, you need to give me an option to skip the credits as well. I held down on my joystick for 8 minutes as the concept art screens repeated through a sea of credits. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game was too short. A full priced game with the length of a DLC. The ending was also underwhelming, just a short 1 minute or so cutscene. The story had potential, with the villain being a puppet to the dungeon master but it was awfully rushed. Expand

Even after reading guides for a total of 20 hours, I still can not figure out how to get chaos levels to work (even though I have successfully done 3 runs) There are so many little games within the runs that I cant figure out either, even after reading guides. No one seems to be able to explain them in simple ways. Runes and skulls and side objectives and.....YET..... It's still all really repetitive. Just doing the same thing over and over and over and not really much fun. I enjoyed the OVERWORLD which is like a little board game, but it is difficult getting around from place to place. Again.... Really overly complicated. Everything is overly complicated. I dont find any interesting gear. Even the Legendaries are boring and often not worth equipping over a Purple. I have over 100 hours in the game, and I've played every Borderlands game extensively. This had so much potential, but feels like I wasted my money. I have yet to find the Mirrors that have the Expansions levels, but from the reviews, those are boring as well, and I'm guessing another overly complicated system of "fun" since i have yet to figure out how to get to them. HAHAHAHA. Expand
