Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, allows gamers to experience tomb raiding as never before. Eidos and Crystal Dynamics shaped Lara's look and movements to be an inherent extension of her skills, motivation and personality. Lara's character model features natural structure, realistic textures, detailed facial features, reactive eyes and fluid motion, all of which make her part of a living environment. New character animations and controls allow her to move through stunning environments with grace and precision, while an understanding of the game's original appeal reinvigorates the fundamental explore-and-solve adventure experience. 1. There are people that say a good game must have good graphics and some that say its gameplay is the most important. TRL has both. Great graphics and a superb gameplay make this game a true jewel.
  2. A solid title from the ground up. It has a nicely written story, with lively characters and a charismatic and sexy protagonist in Lara Croft. It has great voice acting and music, and the artists have done a marvelous job of creating beautiful and diverse locations for the game's backdrop.
  3. Tomb Raider: Legend is not only the best Tomb Raider game in years, but as far ahead as one can possibly get from the disaster that was Angel of Darkness.
  4. In this regard, Crystal Dynamics deserve all the praise, but if they will continue to ignore certain aspects in the next Tomb Raider game and will choose to go down the simplification road, there are very good chances that the next Tomb Raider will end up like "Angel of Darkness."
  5. The best new addition is a magnetic grappling device that allows Lara to move faraway items and swing across chasms. Puzzles are beautifully integrated into the environment and frustration rare.
  6. Every second of this game screams skillful design and the result is a liberating game world that feels open and responsive.

All that appeal is present in Legend, but it's attached to only half of a brilliant game. And in the end, half of a new Lara Croft game adventure turns out to be better than none at all. [July 2006, p.55]

Like a good book, trl takes you to another world. There are many puzzles and a lot of action. The graphics are great, but they are best to be viewed on an old c.r.t. t.v.. There is not much to complain about with this game. The motorcycle scenes, and a few of the scenes, especially toward the end, are a bit boring, but overall trl stays fun till the end! Expand

It has a good story line also but there is one default about the game that makes it unlike everyother tomb raider game... and that is that it is too short. all the other tomb raider games it takes forever just to finish ONE level. in this game a could finish a level in aboout 30min to an hour. the next game should really be LONGER. cuz i beat this game in about 12 hours. Next Gen graphics enabled made for a fantastic visual experience. Cons: I can't help but feel that the Tomb Raider series is drifting away from what made it great. It was way too short. The constant chatter from Zip and constant music detracted from the overall experience. I felt the game held my hand way too much, can't people be trusted to figure out things on their own anymore? Enjoyed the personal Lara's quest driven story, but the sequel baiting in the finale was kinda unnecessery and out of place. Tombs themselves were awesome with excellent design and with well executed eerie atmosphere. Combat on mouse+kboard worked fine enough, but it was much better back on PS2 version, overall if you can i would reccomend the PS2 version, even over PS3/360, cuz next gen graphics take away lot of atmosphere and Lara imo looks wrong copmpared to last gen version of her.

PC port feels bit weak, theres some of the effects missing from console version and running on next gen graphics break the Kazakhstan level for some reason.

I also understand To me, by changing the controls to reflect the camara view, it has made it harder and more difficult to position laura. I also understand that she would not be able to do some of the jumps and other moves if not for this type of controls. I also liked the ability to save where i wanted and so fat playing this game i can only save at check points. It may be that i am apposed to change, but at least if i wanted to jump i knew what buttons to push and what direction she would go. Now i get confused and over half the time i jump the wrong direction. Thank you for the game. I have all the tomb raider games and hope to have more. This is the only pc game I play. Expand

Combat mechanics are awful. Camera movement is horrendous. Can't tell you if the plot is any good. I got sick of fighting the damned game controls and bashed the uninstall button, which is the only thing that worked good. Lara's got a nice rack, great legs and a fine ass, though. Expand
