Overall, Trine 4 is a fantastic, beautiful and extremely enjoyable game to play. Originality may not have been high up on the list of priorities by the time this fourth outing rolled around but everything, from the sumptuous visuals to the audio, everything is tip top. For people who have played previous Trine titles, this one may be the best one yet. It’s a remarkably solid side scrolling title and what seems to be a welcome change from the ill-fated Trine 3. I didn’t honestly think Trine 4 would enrapture me as much as it has, particularly when tackling the multiplayer. If you’ve played and enjoyed and title in the Trine franchise before, you’re very likely to love this one, so grab a few friends and enjoy.

After not playing a Trine game since the original, playing Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince makes me want to play through the first three games. The biggest issue I had was the difficulty as it was kind of simple for a lot of the game and even the boss battles weren't too complex. Trine veterans should have no problems clearing the game and newcomers will find a couple of options that can aid them if need be, and online multiplayer worked pretty well with two people. Whether you're experienced with the series or if this is your first time, Trine 4 is a simple and relaxing puzzle-solving adventure that anyone can enjoy.

They say that if something ain't broken, don't fix it and Trine 4 is one of the brightest examples of that saying. Trine 4 removes with a single scratch the misstep of Trine 3 and it will be undoubtedly listed as one of the top indie games of the year.

By returning to the fundamentals of the series, the developers of Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince made the right choice. Frozenbyte delivers a particularly attractive game with a neat atmosphere and inspired artistic direction. Even though the story ends a little too abruptly and we would have liked more challenge in the fights, we cannot deny being pleased with the game. Environments, gameplay and puzzles know how to stay fresh in order to hold our interest and desire to go further. The possibility of having up to four players and riddles that adapt accordingly are also to be welcomed.

For people who love the predecessors, Trine 4 can easily bring back the good-old memory. Eventhough the online gameplay and combat system are annoying, it remains attractive and impressive for the extraordinary scenes.

For me, it's still not the best Trine, but rather a kind of dignified Déjà vu, a mission CD (who knows that yet?) To earlier parts, a nice reunion without surprises. As meaningful as it may be, the step back in this case also means that you end up back where you were eight years ago.

Trine 4 could’ve been one of the best puzzler-platformer titles of the year if Frozenbyte had spent more time on designing combats and injecting new mechanics and characters to the veins of the series. The new Trine approximately feels the same as previous games, so it’s a fun-to-play game, but doesn’t offer anything new.

Welcome back Trine! We missed you. Hello everyone. It's me, Jayden Pickens. I have returned from my slumber and the first thing I playedWelcome back Trine! We missed you. Hello everyone. It's me, Jayden Pickens. I have returned from my slumber and the first thing I played through was Trine 4. What an amazing game this is. Let's start at the beginning. Trine 4 returns to the 2d style of Trine 1 & 2. It's not in 3d like Trine 3. Storywise, Trine 4 takes place some years/months after Trine 3... that is a fact proven by something in Trine 4, but I won't reveal where. That's for you to find out. We have a new story involving a prince whose nightmares are overtaking every place he visits. This time our heroes are summoned by the astral academy headmaster to take care of the problem. That's the story. I loved all the references to the previous adventures of our heroes. If you remember previous games, you'll have a smile on your face many times. When it comes to the gameplay, it's basically Trine 2 but with some new mechanics, I love the fairy rope and dream shield the most. With all of our abilities we can now solve most of the puzzles in many ways, not just one. You can also upgrade your heroes, but I've finished the game 100% without spending even a point. That means you can finish the entire game without upgrading anything... it will certainly make the game harder, but if you enjoy the challenge like me then go for it. I don't need to tell you about the graphics, because they're gorgeous as usual. Sounds are nice too. Overall, this game is a must for anyone who liked the previous games. It's my fav part of Trine right after Trine: Enchanted Edition for which I will always have a soft spot. If you have never played Trine before, that's not a deal breaker. You won't understand some references, but you won't be lost either. Go buy this stuff on gog, steam or whatever (but, I'd recommend gog, because you actually get to keep your game, not rent it). Pickens approves! Expand

It introduces some new game mechanics. There is only some harder puzzle during the whole game, reaching the end except these not so hard. Finding all of collectibles is not so easy but it is worth if you wish to unlock the end the small game in the main menu (!).

The game is not so long (10-15 hours) but it definitely worth to buy with 50% discount.

Thank you so much for this game.

It took everything I loved about the franchise, polished it up and made the best of the series.

    Fantastic .

I prefered playing the 3rd version of the game. This one is good, but more difficult for the kids to play.

This game is a return toTrine 4 is a co-op puzzle 2D platformer game, taking place in a fictional, lighthearted world of sword and sorcery. This game is a return to form for the developers, after the bad reviews they got for Trine 3.

There is a story, but is rudimentary at best as it lacks any depth and ambition. It's just an excuse for the 3 heroes to go on a new adventure of puzzle-solving.

The graphics are gorgeous. There are 3D polygonal heroes, objects and NPCs set in a 2D world. And the music is nice. But the voice overs are mediocre.

Gameplay-wise it's a standard puzzle 2D platformer game with physics-based objects that can be manipulated. Every room you visit is a puzzle that has to be solved, and every once in a while you have to fight some enemies or the occasional boss. This game's difficulty is quite low overall, but in the final third of the game there are a series of awful puzzles. Not difficult, but awfully designed. Not only that, the whole game's puzzles feel like they were designed around a single player who can switch characters at will, but aren't balanced well enough for 3 players. There are a few puzzles towards the end that me and my 2 mates couldn't pass through, I think we only beat them thanks to unexpected bugs and glitches, or physics that went haywire. I was having some fun in the first 12 chapters or so, but after that and until the end credits I had an unpleasant experience.

I would play a Trine 5 in the future, but please balance the puzzles for 1, 2 and 3 players, not just 1. And make sure to design the puzzles in a better way.
