Troll and I tries to go everywhere but instead it just fail in everything. Despite the good intentions there is no direction in the game and they seems to have fit every single idea for a game they have into one.

The story premise is interesting, but basically everything else about this game isn’t. It could have been a decent coop action adventure, but it lacks finesse on absolutely every level.

Troll and I had the potential to be a good game: an intriguing (albeit overdone) adventure-driven story mixed with puzzle solving, combat, crafting, and more. But the game fails to successful execute any of these ideas in a meaningful way. The plot falls flat and the gameplay is repetitive and boring. The game is filled with immersion breaking bugs, and has the graphics of a PS2 era title from a Walmart bargain bin. When looking at Troll and I, remember the internet meme: “Don’t feed the troll.”

Troll and I is full of good ideas, but poorly executed.

Troll and I is unplayable. By all accounts, the game is full of glitches, even on the latest generation of consoles -- let alone all of the victims who bought the game to play on a PC more than a year old. It may work on certain systems to some degree, but the advertised minimum specifications are certainly false, and therefore merit a hefty downgrade. If you manage to get past the game-breaking bugs, the gameplay itself is frustrating and unoriginal, and the story seems to have nothing to offer. Save your money and your sanity, and skip this one.

Do not, under any circumstances, play Troll and I. Don't buy it on sale. Don't pirate it. Don't rent it from your local A-Z Video. Just. Say. No. The only benefit Troll and I may bring to the world is when your favorite YouTuber plays through it and provides you with many funny moments as they struggle.

What can one say about 'Troll And I' that hasn't already been said a thousand times? Quite simply this game is, nothing but a masterpiece. AsWhat can one say about 'Troll And I' that hasn't already been said a thousand times? Quite simply this game is, nothing but a masterpiece. As you journey throughout the story you get a real sense that these characters are actually growing as they travel with each other, the troll, and I.
Don't trust these other reviews saying that the game was poorly made and buggy, they just haven't been able to get past the first level. ;) Once you get past this the intensity of the game really ramps up.
Once out of the forest you embark on a mission to uncover the government conspiracy shaking the land of Jimbarta. The villagers have been subjugated to the lower classes of society forced to only serve the top 1%, and it's up to you and the troll to take down the leaders once and for all.
Overall I found this story to be very well executed, ten times better than any so-called story based game before. Final Fantasy? Psshaww. Metal Gear Solid? Doesn't even come close.Cave Story? Forget about it!
While the controls can be a bit weird to get used to initially, I'm sure you'll find that they're truly the best way to traverse the world. And what a world it is. There has never been a better looking game world ever designed. After a particularly long, 14 hour bender on the game, I found myself looking around outside expecting everything to look like it did in the game. That's how realistic the graphics were.
After about the 30 hour mark you finally get to see what makes this game so special, once again it's the story. The conspiracy unraveling is an absolutely enthralling musical experience, as the game shifts to a climactic musical number for the final moments. Toby Fox couldn't have written a better musical score if he was strapped to a metronome factory flying through Ziggy Stardust's sex asteroid belt.
In summary, this game has been able to top every other gaming experience I've ever had, and that's certainly been a lot. I can say for certain that after buying this game your life will be completely ruined. You'll have spent thousands of hours having the time of your life and nothing will ever be able to compare to the endorphin released ever again.
That's why everyone should absolutely buy this game, nothing will compare. By the way Bush did 9/11 and the government is putting chemicals in the water to turn your kids ginger.

    Troll and I
Full of Moles and Full of Bugs
Troll and I is a puzzle action adventure game where you play as both Otto and a troll he meets during a forest fire after he rushes home to check on his mother…
You spend the rest of the game trying to get back…
I was initially surprised and hopeful when this game started…
It starts with a hunting sequence..
Sadly this sequence is only there to introduce the crafting system...
You get stick to make spears and you take out boars to bring home for dinner…
This of course isn’t what you use the items you get off of the boar though..
But you do use these items to craft your first weapon…
The forest is crawling with all sorts of mole enemies, who’s portals are sealed by using the troll to seal them up…
And you can fight them hand to hand with Otto or with the troll which I advise…
The troll can kill most enemies in a single hit… and Otto’s weapons do break and materials for crafting new weapons are practically nonexistent.. so it’s wise to hold off on using him unless the game absolutely forces you…
But after the games initial hour of about 9 you realize troll and I is about to take you on a long ride…
    Initially things are fine…
I thought wow some little team made a cheap man’s tomb raider meets uncharted game with a troll companion…
I was getting tiny majin and the forsaken kingdom vibes…
And then I hit a point during an uncharted style obstacle where Otto says he can’t hop this gap.. There must be another way…
Instantly I sigh. .think to myself... after all of that…
    Climb down
then I spent a good hour running around this area trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing...
The game gives you quote unquote hints… which are really just reminders of where you’re supposed to be going…
not actually saying hey I should check out that over there… which would’ve been nice many many times during my journey..
Especially in the beginning when I was rolling my eyes thinking great… it’s one of these games…
And I was right... it is one of those games throughout…
A puzzle game that puts you in a massive area to figure out environmental puzzles and remember where things were to come back to them later as the entire map is connected…
The game forces back tracking way too much and you’re in areas far too long… making the overall pacing of this game near unbearable…
The story moves forward at a crawl as you’re climbing around, trying to find items you need to craft spears to break a wall, or running all the way back near the beginning of the game for more shards to make more spears…
materials in general are way too rare to make the crafting system feel satisfying or fun…
you’re just climbing up rocks praying you don’t have to craft something around the corner
Switching back and forth between characters to progress because they annoying don’t automatically follow each other, and when you do the command to come to you… they rarely do or get stuck behind a wall…
You can climb the troll as Otto and walk together.. But many moments in the game you have to split up as Otto disarms troll traps, or has to climb through holes to move an item
this is primarily an Otto game... really only using the troll when you have the solution and are ready to move on…
You can play this game co-op, but the troll isn’t going to have much fun waiting on you…
    and onto the bugs…
For starts the hit detection in combat is garbage…
spears and melee attacks will many times go through enemies… frustrating during the cheap sections of the game where you try to sneak up behind an enemy that instakills you and you’re attacks are doing nothing and you have to restart many minutes back and recollect every item up to that point because the auto saves in this game are trash…
Also I had a few moments where the characters would get stuck on a wall forcing me to back out of the game and back in..And again... deal with the awful auto save losing way too much of my progress…
And the game crashed on me twice…
once during a really annoying bug where the screen starts shaking like a volcano is supposed to go off…
This shaking happened probably 3 or 4 times during my journey to the end…
And finally I wouldn’t necessarily call this a bug, but lazy game development during a boss battle in the game where you have to throw rocks at an enemies stomach to break its shield… after I broke 2 pieces I threw another rock assuming I had to break the rest of it…
And Otto kept yelling that I was almost there.. Keep hitting him… so I did… 30 times... and the battle would not progress….
    Troll and I isn’t a bad game
But it’s not a good game either.
It’s just a game that exists with cool ideas but many many problems
    but mostly, the atrocious pacing.
    I give Troll and I
    a 5/10
