Unavowed is a triumph of genre fusion enhanced by years of hard work in an unsung genre. If there’s any justice, it will spark an adventure game renaissance.

Thanks to Wadjet Eye’s now decade-long commitment to creating narrative driven point-and-click adventures that look and sound like products from a bygone era, it has seemingly done the impossible with Unavowed. Created a modern-day pixel-art driven, point-and-click classic. An adventure to savour, and one to revisit in the years to come.

Engaging story, fascinating characters, a well crafted gameplay and lots of decisions. Sure, there are some minor flaws in the plot, but you can say that Unavowed is a great adventure, probably the best of 2018.

WadjetEye Games has done it again! Unavowed does not disappoint at all, relying on the tried-and-tested formula that has worked so well in the past, but now taking that and polishing it beyond belief, and then expertly blending in themes from popular titles, sprinkling a whole host of fresh ideas into the pot to make for one of the most engaging experiences of the year.

When it all comes together, Unavowed is practically flawless. In fact, no other point-and-click game has blown my socks off quite like this.

Dave Gilbert has created one of the best graphic adventures we’ve played in the last few years. From the visuals to the gameplay, it’s a solid experience you shouldn’t miss.

Despite the minor flaws described above, Unavowed is truly something special, and it deserves every accolade it’s about to receive. I honestly can’t remember being as drawn into an adventure game as I was during this one, and the time just flew by. Simply put, Wadjet Eye’s newest title should be in every gamer’s library as soon as possible.

From its wonderfully realized locations and its inviting, three-dimensional characters, Unavowed will have you eager to discover the captivating stories lurking in the demonic underworld of New York City.

If you've played any of Wadjet Eye's games, you're probably used to the pixel art and the low resolution, but Unavowed is an exception since it has twice the resolution of a typical game released by the studio. Moreover, the jazzy and blues accords perfectly fit the supernatural theme and the New York City landscapes. Also, once again, the voice acting is top-notch, but wouldn't even expect less from Wadjet Eye.

On each playthrough, though, I enjoyed the game as much as I did on my first go. It never gets old to see Eli’s weary wisdom, Mandana’s warm righteousness, Logan’s rugged intuition, KayKay’s mischievous behavior or Vicky’s no-nonsense street smarts. Rarely I see a game that endures such a ransacking through it. Like its subject matter, there must be something supernatural to Unavowed – or maybe I’m possessed by it!

A love letter to an after-hours, twilight New York that you’ve been dreaming of your entire life, Unavowed boldly innovates within the genre whilst delivering an adult, hard-boiled narrative of loss, terror and unexpected redemption.

A poignant story of devotion and hope, of love and duty, of good and justice, a rollercoaster ride of unexpected twists that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last second.

An experience, in short, to be recommended absolutely to every lover of the genre, as well as one of the best tip and click of recent years.

As far as presentation, Unavowed has twice the resolution of a typical Wadjet Eye title (640×360), but more importantly the art work looks great. Voice-acting and dialog is nicely done, and you can also enable a commentary track as you play to learn more about the development. In sum, if you enjoy the genre, you’re sure to enjoy Unavowed.

One of the most engaging and original adventure games released in years. You owe it to yourself to give it a play.

Unavowed is another adventurous little gem by Wadjet Eye Games, although with even more than usual in terms of gameplay and storytelling.

Unavowed is yet another triumphant success for the trophy case of Wadjet Eye. Spectacular cast, wonderful locals and improvements in the technical department show a strong return after the 3-year absence. We can only hope that this is only the start of a new pentalogy!

Charming horror comedy adventure with cool abilities and choices held back only by the puzzles hardly setting a challenge.

A traditional point-and-click adventure with a stunning story and characters straight out of golden-era BioWare games. But puzzle enthusiasts, beware - you won’t find any complicated brain twisters in demon-plagued New York.

Amid some legitimately unsettling horrors and gory scenes, the game lets you find solace in the company of its characters.

Another great point and click adventure game by Dave Gilbert, that sadly doesn´t match the high expectations we had on it. Despìte this, Gilbert delivers again a good solid story with many new and fresh possibilities that pusses the genre one step away. We hope that Unavowed will be the beginning for another great saga by genius Dave Gilbert.
