Unrailed! is essential to absolutely anyone who loves arcade couch co-op games, and I will undoubtedly be playing this for years to come. All that’s left now is for you to grab a friend and go. How long can you hang on?

This is a fun game to pull out if someone wants to have a cooperative challenge with some friends or connect with strangers online, although as with most co-ops, playing with friends is often more rewarding.

Helped along by a sharp design and an energetically cinematic soundtrack, it imparts a sense of unity, even when a few inevitable mistakes derail an hour of work. The simplicity of the game can seem inelegant and makes some tasks clumsier than they should be, but it also makes it easier for even the less game-literate to grab a controller and join in, which is bountiful praise indeed.

Unrailed! is intense, a bit chaotic, at times wearisome, but highly addictive. [12/2020, p.50]

Unrailed! tries to create a chaotic multiplayer experience, and it succeeds… although not for very long. Maybe new updates can bring new ideas to help it grow.

Unrailed! is a nice game as long as you're with some good friends, but forget about it if you're a solo player, as the game then becomes as boring as it can get.

After a year in Early Access, Unrailed is a party game that challenges us to keep a little train rolling towards the next station, having to craft and place the rails on the go. The game offers the option to play single player, but it’s clear the game’s strong point relies on its multiplayer experience. [Early Access Score = 80]

Coop or competitive online game about making way for your railroads which you have to build fast. You control a character with basic movementsCoop or competitive online game about making way for your railroads which you have to build fast. You control a character with basic movements and you only use two tools, one for wood and one for stone. Furthermore you can equip your train with extra wagons and improvements, such as dynamite producer, extra space, ghost wagons, jet pack and such.

    GAMEPLAY 5/5
The game is divided by stages, so your goal in each one is to reach the final station by putting down the rails in front of your train. If you fail, the train will derail and game over. The players tend to block each other, even the terrain complicates movement. They can use predetermined icons for simple interactions.

    GRAPHICS 3/5
Very simplistic, colorful and in later stage somehow confusing change of perspective. There are few models of character. There is a day and night cycle, during night each player has its own small light radius. Orientation and planning is important. The map moves slowly to the right towards the final station as the train moves, leaving the left side of the map covered but the player can wander off there. The main menu is nicely done controlled as if playing game itself.

    REPLAY VALUE 5/5
The coop offers three difficulties and few modes. As you progress further, you have new fauna and flora, some is just annoying, some dangerous, some slows you down and some prevents you from advancement. You can collect some yellow things while running around. Each map is randomly generated seed.

    MUSIC 5/5
It is soothing, little playful, good ambient sounds, not distracting from my objectives and nice at the same time.

    HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
    Non-gaming.

    HOW DIFFICULT
Normal and Hard. Gets really nerving when your team does a lot of mistakes.

    HOW LONG TO FINISH
Competitive mode lasts for few seconds, depending on the player skills and speed. Other mode can be endless.

    VERDICT 9/10
    Entertaining.

Original coop multiplayer with simple controls and limited maps. It is like Minecraft from a top-down view with objectives, the map keeps track of your distance so when the game is over, you will see a presentation of all your railroad through the map which is a satisfying look.

Early access game with well implemented ideas. It is what it is. Time limit is crucial factor. Communication options could be improved together with additional view options, like zooming and disabling flip screen which I personally welcome.

Yet another game to add to the repertoire of co-op indie games like Overcooked. Game is straightforward, but can get hectic. Best played withYet another game to add to the repertoire of co-op indie games like Overcooked. Game is straightforward, but can get hectic. Best played with a friend, and not the AI. The mistakes are what makes the game fun to play.

Alas, Unrailed does get boring after a while, as there is not much to do. It's a game about multitasking, and trying your best to do that well. The difficulty ramps up as you progress, which is the main driver for adrenaline. Overall, it's a cup-of-tea scenario which depend on what you are looking for in a co-op game.

pretty fun to play with friends, not much to do apart from the main mode, and not much single player to play, neat co-op game
