Great atmospheric round strategy in the Warhammer 40k universe that comes very close to the tabletop template.
It offers fun and challenging turn-based combat,
a very coherent campaign so far in which you can put your army together according to your personal play style and after the missions you can use the HQ upgrades to unlock many useful items / skills for your heroes and troops.

With Battlesector, Black Lab delivers one of the best strategy games in the Warhammer 40k universe since DoW 2.
There is also a photo mode as a little extra that you can use to take some good screenshots.
In Battlesector not everything is perfect (only 2 factions, AI weaken) but it is a lot of fun and has a very good basic basis, which can be further improved with the announced faction DLCs.
So I have a clear recommendation, especially for Warhammer 40k fans.

As True an attempt at the tabletop form embodied in a video game I have ever played, true Warhammer fans should appreciate the aesthetic as well as the game play.

Strongly recommend this game, it's one of the best Warhammer 40k games so far. It appeals on so many levels, good tactical challenges, serious strategic planning as you decide how to upgrade your people and much more. Even the music is good.

    Great turnbased 40k game
    Good sound, and music
    Interesting lore
    Great gamplay
    And decent graphics.

I played on the second hardest difficulty, and to be honest it was to easy. might give it another go on hardest difficulty.
I would LOVE to play this game with more races and factions, hopefully it will come. either in dlc or in a sequel

The gameplay was alright, though there's not a lot of variation throughout the missions. The story throws too much Warhammer gibberish at you and it's hard to follow what they're talking about at times.

Recommendation: There aren't a lot of new, playable turn-based games. It's worth a go.

Great TBS game set in the WH40k universe. The story, graphics and gameplay are all 1st rate. In a departure from most WH40k tactical games it is fully voiced and the voiceover is some of the best I have experienced in a strategy game. The missions are interesting and propel the story forward adding new troops with each one.

The game is only let down by a few QoL failings and it could

Really enjoyable turn based WH40k up to company sized battle simulator with a narrative tying together 20 battles in the SP mode. Catches the flavour of the TT and the mood of the setting.

Big achievement for a small developer. Hopefully a lot more to come from them as they take this base and expand upon it.

Feels cheap, pacing is too slow, animations and sounds are weird, overhaul it is very dull.

    Good Old Waha

I'm not a true fan of the Warhammr 40 k universe, but I like Dawn of War Trilogy (TBS) and Space Marine (Shooter). The game feels like homecoming to Dow, but nothing more - just an average experience with dead multiplayer. I'm not a true fan of the Warhammr 40 k universe, but I like Dawn of War Trilogy (TBS) and Space Marine (Shooter).
The game feels like homecoming to Dow, but nothing more - just an average experience with dead multiplayer.

Visual (7/10): Graphic is good as for strategies, music average, but together with the colors, canonical pictures of the main characters, detailed equip - it creates true Warhammer 40k atmosphere. The interface is a bit archaic, but if you play strategies in the beginning of 2000s you can feel nostalgic.

Gameplay (5/10): Gameplay is average and varies from missions. Main problem - only 2 fractions - less strategies. Missions in the middle of a game are boring - you need to rush to spot A and just kill all. After finishing the game I can remember hardly 3-4 missions from 20.
Multiplayer is rather dead than alive, I've tried it, but still boring and long queue (maybe I'm unlucky)
Good points - some rpg elements - you upgrade branches for a commander and related squads are upgraded also. You can customize each squad - great option, but due to only 2 fractions till the end of the game you finalize your blood angels and smash Tyranids - its fun but straightforward.

Story (7/10) - For non Waha fans - you need to watch the entranced video for about 2 hours to understand the background. After this you can admire the story. So the story is good, just because of the background. The characters are very average and not very epic.

If you are the Warhammer 40 k fan or want to check what is all about - it's definitely worth to try, just for atmosphere. In other cases - you will not miss anything.

A pleasant peek for fans of univers, who want more "forties". The remaining players of turn-based strategies lets look elsewhere. There is a lot to choose from.

If you like your battles tactical then this is a great game to sink you teeth into. The campaign escalates nicely and does a good job of selling the desperation of your mission. Being able to easily switch out your units and play around with army composition is also a really nice touch that means you don’t end up locked into a single playstyle. Campaign re-playability is somewhat lacking but the skirmish mode gives you the chance to play against friends so there is that. Considering how many new campaigns and modes were added to Deadlock over the years, we can probably expect some expansions in the future.

This solid turned-based tactical game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe and focused on the struggle of the Blood Angels against nightmarish Tyranids is more fun than you might expect. It definitely deserves the Emperor’s blessing. [10/2021, p.30]
