Daemonhunters isn't just one of the best W40K games of recent years, but also one of the most solid tactical strategy games ever.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is not only an engaging turn-based strategy game, but one of the best translations of the 40K universe to the PC. With a great story and wealth of options in combat, Daemonhunters also captures the visual aesthetics of the Space Marines and infectious Nurgle. While the interface and some systems could benefit from a bit more elegance and simplicity, Daemonhunters is dramatic, over-the-top, amusing and deeply satisfying. Learning its systems and sticking with the lengthy campaign is a commitment to be sure, but one that fans of 40K should be happy to make.

Daemonhunters doesn't just live up to the expectations, but is one of the best tactical games out there.

Despite my minor grievances, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is exceptionally fun. It’s a treat for the eyes, ears, and the bonce. It’s violent, gore-filled, crunchy, and full of charm. Underneath all of that is a wealth of depth and customization that begs to be explored. If you’re a fan of the setting then this is an easy sell. If you aren’t, then this is still a fantastic introduction to a wacky universe that’s well worth delving into.

The violent and oppressive far future of Warhammer 40k has been beautifully recreated in Chaos Gate Demonhunters. The XCOMesque style of game play, both for the missions gameplay and for the base management, fits perfectly with the theme and the lore of this franchise. Very detailed graphics and superb soundtrack close the deal.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is an excellent XCOM-like and one of the best 40K games since Dawn of War II.

Plagued with technical issues partially resolved patch after patch, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters has also problems in terms of balancing and AI. The boss fights are well done, but it’s also a little monotonous as you find yourself playing the same dull couple of missions from the start to the very end of the game.

I think in all fairness it is 9 rather than 10, but I just want other people to appreciate it more. It has a lot of potential min-maxing X-com squad which when done efficiently makes steamrolling enemies extremely satisfying. I think it also allows for a lot of build versatility which is super cool and you are also pushed for an aggressive playstyle vs 50% overwatch popcorn. Expand

Story presentation that features many great cutscenes. The powerfully staged battles are accompanied by a great Warhammer soundtrack.
In the extensive campaign you take command of the Gray Knights.
The great character classes can also be adapted in many ways and the talent trees are also very extensive.
Furthermore, there are also many upgrade options for our ship, the Baleful Edict, which is the linchpin for our missions or character management.
The game also offers an in-game glossary in which all terms/designations are described in German in a way that is easy to understand.

There are also a few things that can still be improved such as the balance and also the wound system as the days that a Gray Knight is injured is a bit too long.

Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters has turned out to be a really great game for me.
The short and crisp missions play really fast and very brutal.
I've had a lot of fun so far and can only recommend it.

Well, the musical accompaniment in the 1998 game was better. Expand

Dark, murky colours make distinguishing characters a challenge. Undeveloped characters and story. No meaningful choices nor sense of jeopardy. By contrast, XCOM introduced characters that the player grew to care about, there was a sense of jeopardy, and game mechanics were introduced along with the story. In this game, each grey knight looks and sounds identical. I like Warhammer, but not when it's a poor copy of an existing game. Expand
