Wasteland 3 - Patriarch Of Colorado Gameplay Trailer
Aug 31, 2020Overall I felt Wasteland 3 to be an amazing successor to a great franchise and had me addicted within the first 10 minutes of play. It offers a great and compelling story with twists and choices that matter. The characters are robust and with the gorgeous artwork that is Colorado helps to bring everything to life. The combat is great and works well and I didn’t find it tedious. The skill system offers depth of choice for making characters and brings some interesting things to the game. My only complaint really comes in the form of a few bugs, but otherwise Wasteland 3 is everything I could want in a post apoc turn based combat game with a Frozen Ferret Launcher.
Aug 31, 2020It feels that inXile have hit their stride with this latest installment and have continued to flesh out the Wasteland world that is committed to individuality. Wasteland 3 is a world of open adventure, thrills and a deluge of blood. So what are you waiting for, Ranger? Get out there.
Oct 2, 2020Wasteland 3 is an absolute blast. The well balanced, if unforgiving, difficulty feels pitch perfect for the story and world. It is funny, harrowing and at times even verging on dark, telling a compelling tail of surviving in this terrifying world. Not only is the narrative great but the strategic combat centric gameplay is absolutely stunning. It is impossible not to recommend this title; it is one of a kind.
Sep 8, 2020Wasteland 3 does everything you expect from the series but in a sleeker package. From the freedom in building character abilities to your approach to the missions or which ending to strive for, there's plenty that's within your control, and those variations help if you want to play through the game multiple times. The story is interesting thanks to all of the decisions you get to make, and while your created characters don't add much personality, your companions are chatty enough to make encounters worthwhile. If you can forgive the occasional bugs, you'll find Wasteland 3 to be a top-notch RPG.
Sep 15, 2020Wasteland 3 succeeds on its narrative, choice system, strong characters, and compelling factions. It stumbles in its lifeless world, inconsistent presentation, familiar gameplay, and technical side – it often feels like a snow-themed reskin of Wasteland 2, with many of that title’s limitations and janky systems. Nonetheless, designer Brian Fargo has here made the best post-apocalyptic RPG since Fallout: New Vegas. It’s just not as good as the one he made 23 years ago with Fallout.

TheIf you are a fan of isometric turn-based RPGs, this is a no-brainer. One of the best games I've ever played being a fan of the genre. The story is pretty good, but the way it is told is amazing. The character in this game is what really set it apart for me. Multiple times I was laughing out loud at the content of the game. That being said, the combat and builds you can put together are a TON of fun and lend itself to quite a bit of replayability, especially being able to side with different factions in the vein of the fallout franchise. The combat feels good, kind of like X-Com, and the weapon variety is cool too, somewhat reminiscent of borderlands for me. So yeah for me this was like Fallout, Xcom and Borderlands in one. As for the cons; there are definitely bugs and clunkiness that is pretty annoying at times, as well as the load screens can be pretty bad. The game continues to receive updates, so these issues should be mitigated in future builds.… Expand

+ Turn-based combat is fun and can get quite challenging if you're not careful.
+ The soundtrack has surprised me, especially there are 2 songs that will get into your head for days.
- The AI of allies can be improved. They cross over of fire or gas clouds in a suicidal way

May 7, 2021Okay, final review. I went back and forth because a lot of the issues, even months later including a patch that actually broke my gameOkay, final review. I went back and forth because a lot of the issues, even months later including a patch that actually broke my game (really?) made me rate the game a zero for a bit. But, now it's totally playable and I finished and I have perspective.
Overall, with all fixes, it was a very good game, awesome colorful gfx, fun combat, excellent voice acting; some really good story lines (folks who love gray choices will LOVE these). I also really like the music, some of the folksy versions of the 70s music is cute. Finally, multiple Quick Save slots is EXACTLY what a PC game should have but rarely does any longer.
It's a bit different than WL2, somewhat simpler, "dumbed down" for the masses, but on HARD difficulty it was still challenging in part. You can steam roll a lot and then suddenly be surprised how enemies will meat grind you; definitely keeps you on your toes. If you get sloppy in some parts, you will be obliterated no matter how much armor you think you have. On normal, I suspect you will just snooze your way through combat especially if you have any talent tactically at all. WL2 also was more "desperate" and Colorado reflects a somewhat more abundant economy (if you have the money). At the end of the game I had hundreds of rounds of everything and about 100 medkits of each kind, etc.
Anyway, it's a very entertaining dark story and I had fun all the way to the end. I would play WL4 , but the rollout was so bad I might wait 6-12 months. I waited 3 and that still wasn't enough. It's a talented team but the product was rushed or they didn't care and either way it left a bad taste in my mouth for a franchise I was beginning to love. I hope they learn and improve, because the final product was worth it.… Expand

Graphic presentation dated and near ugly thin 6
In total 7.3
In addition, all this overemphasized goofiness and silyness, which constantly reminds you that this is just a game, comes into serious conflict with any attempt at deeper immersion. Just when you solve some serious moral problem, you run into a cyborg chicken. Or a two-headed mutant goat who likes to talk. Or discobot, exploding pigs, clown gang .... Funny? Sometimes a little. Anoying? All the time completely.… Expand

Close but no Brygo's cigar.
- What is with this UI? I don't understand how you make a "loot-galore" game and have this counter intuitive inventory? No way of telling your gear apart, just a complete mess.
- Grouping and un-grouping your squad is confusing. One moment I am looting, talking to an npc etc. and somehow I am now ungrouped and running solo with my main character so now I have to wait until the rest of the squad catches up. This is not terribly annoying early on but 30 hours later it gets tedious.
-Mods and armor: Why on earth isn't there a perk that lets you exchange your mods without breaking them. Some areas require fire dmg, some energy dmg. Let people play around and be strategic and don't punish players. And the fact you can field strip guns but not armor is bs.
-Weapons: Whats with the gigantic penalties on mods? +12 dmg -12 dmg? +10% Evasion but -2 Armor? Ok let me just grab my calculator and do the positives contra negatives on that one real quick. Just mind-boggling.
-Companions/pets: A neat feature that feels upgraded from W2 but why can't you heal or cure your followers? Right after a fight, I manage to walk over a gas mine and now my whole team is poisoned and I can't heal or cure my companions so they just have to die cause of low health and slow hp regen. So stupid.
-Missions: Main missions and side missions feels too similar and ultimately like a choir. I never understood why you cant just make a game with a solid story and then after you have finished said story you can continue playing the game and THEN play side-missions. You rush thru dialogue as a result.
+/-Crafting: Great addition and a great function but another UI mess where you can't even read what ur chosen item will even do? Even if you have previously made it. Confusing. Why would I sacrifice an item/mod for something unknown? Just let me see what exactly I'm investing in before I spend precious resources.
-Bugs: And plenty of them but one that stands out is when in combat, if you attack your next target "too fast" before your character has finished its animation he/she just randomly shoots any target or just right in to the wall. That is insanely game-breaking as you have now wasted AP/Ammo doing NOTHING.
-Environment: Feels even more dead than the deserts of W2. Just like a re-skin with a snow mod on top.
-Radiation is back! Maybe that's just me but just put up roadblocks instead of injuring my team for trying to drive thru the wrong snowy valley. So much for exploration.
+Talents/perks feels more compact and streamlined.
+Skills usage also is now much faster and no need to micro manage anymore.Just click on door/safe/alarm and it happends automatically.
+/- Cutscenes! Even tho they are few and far between, still a welcomed addition.
+/-Story: Feels same old same old. Nothing new and nothing special.
+Load times: They seem to have fixed the load times cause I remember it being slow as hell a couple of updates ago but now runs pretty good on a SSD.
There are more positives but ultimately gets overshadowed by the negatives. Feels too much in the middle, which is a shame cause I remember Wasteland 2 feeling fun and fresh but this just seems uninspired. I also remember seeing early "gameplay" videos pre-release and that looked like a completely different game all together. I guess we can thank the pre-purchase people for another failed franchise.
Overall I wouldn't recommend unless its on sale
