Surf the waters of a submerged city! Unravel the past, save the islanders from mysterious sea monsters and discover secrets hidden under the surface.

Explore an open sea and the decaying archipelago of Strandville in Wavetale, a story-driven action-adventure game introducing you to fed-up fishermen, secretive hermits - and maybe a pirate or two. Traverse calm waters and surging waves as Sigrid, a young girl who befriends a mysterious shadow that provides her with the power to walk on water.

Speed through the waves, swing yourself from housetops with your net, and defeat an old nemesis to save the citizens of the islands. All with a bit of help from the shadows down below - and your cranky grandmother.

Wavetale is an astonishingly charming game with movement controls and visuals like nothing I've experienced. It's a joyful 3D platforming experience, if not a little short.

With Wavetale, Thunderful have managed to put a unique spin on post-apocalyptic worlds through its joyful tone, characters, style and more, making one want to spend as much time in it as possible and discover every sight to see. Of course, it helps that zipping around on the water is fun and makes for terrific gameplay, and the platforming easily evokes the classics. Audiences both young and old should give this a chance, as it’s a terrific action/adventure game with a lot of heart that shouldn’t just be ignored like mere flotsam.

Wavetale’s forgiving platforming and trivial combat arguably make the game a bit too easy, but its thoughtful narrative and gorgeous world will keep you happily glued to the screen throughout the entirety of its brief duration.

Wavetale is only four hours long and can be too one-note for its own good, but a captivating world and resonant story make it worth playing all the same.

Wavetale is an adventure that blends platforming and combat, but fails markedly on the latter. The parkour and exploration turn out to be smooth and enjoyable, but overall it always lacks that extra idea that could charge the game. The plot also does not stand out, although without major flaws. Wavetale is not bad, but it is also not interesting enough to prompt us to recommend it to everyone.

Even with the flaws in the design, and a few objects popping in on occasion, Wavetale was an absolute joy to play. From the charming graphics and characters to the amazing freedom of movement, the adventure Sigrid and the Shadow go on to discover the truth of their home is one I’m happy I got to experience.

It is aim mainly to a younger audience. Surfing/jumping is the most fun part of this game. Fighting is quite basic and a one button affair. There is no upgrades or items. You have an economy but it's only to buy aesthetic stuff. Quite useless and broken (too much money/lighting). The direction indicator only points out the main quest. There are some side quest but the rewards are not interesting. I like the graphics, but the art style of the characters and their expression, is a hit and miss. Around the ending you begin to have camera glitch and jerking. The music is good. I give it 70%. A game of 4 hours that was fun but has it's flaw. Expand
