It may depress you, and it may leave you with tears in your eyes afterwards, but when a game tells a story as well as What Remains of Edith Finch does here, it deserves not just to be played, but to be remembered and discussed and considered long after you've set down the controller.
It goes without saying that this game sets a new benchmark for storytelling, and the imaginative ways in which it's done, all the while dealing with death in a delicate and poignant way.

Honestly a masterpiece. I went in hearing that this was good, normally with hype I go the opposite direction and end up hating the hyped up product. This actually exceeded my expectations. Excellent game that will make you feel something.

Giant Sparrow delivers again, with an atmospheric and unique walking simulator that will occupy your thoughts for a long while.
What Remains of Edith Finch may only provide a brief glimpse into the lives of its characters like a family photo albums filled with moments that have long since passed, but it’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
Edith is the last living Finch and that's meaningful because the Finches have one hell of a tough time staying alive. By my count, there are 37 tombstones in the cemetery -- 12 for the humans and 25 for the pets. I probably missed some.
While there are only brief glimpses into the life of each person, there’s a sense of connection that grows with the Finch family over time. The episodes that make up its story explore a variety of subject matters, tapping into the psyche of getting to know your roots, with all of the flaws and mistakes of the past laid bare. What Remains of Edith Finch isn’t a long tale, but it’s a sensory journey, imaginative and thoughtfully realized. It makes an impact that keeps us thinking well after it’s done.
Ultimately I consider What Remains of Edith Finch less essential than The Unfinished Swan, but certainly not less worthwhile. This is a moody, thoughtful, and often harrowing account of Edith and her tragedy-ridden kin, and if you’re the sort who finds tragic or adverse accounts to be of the highest profundity, you’ll likely adore what’s displayed throughout this exploration of mansion, mind, and psyche.
This game gives me a sense of feeling that it no longer can be call a game, it's a art!

As I don't have much time to play, any game with a short duration is welcome. It tells the story of the Finch family, focusing on each member. The gameplay is limited (just moving), but there are some beautiful mechanics that encompass the story telling. While the global story is not perfect and I think there is material for something bigger, I really enjoyed some of the short chapters.

I played this with my wife and I guess pretended to enjoy it for her sake but really, found it boring and just wanted it to end. In saying that, the story is nice (in a tragic kind of way) but the gameplay, while creative & unorthodox, just had me playing through it for the sake of it, without finding it fun. Can see arty types & casuals loving it tho, just not for me.

All style. Very little substance. Overrated. Definition of oscar-bate for a """"game""""". No wonder it got such "high prise". It's an ideal product for a pretentious critic who wants to think about herself/himself as an art critic connoisseur.
Actually pretty dumb. All that creativity could have been something great if someone had an actual direction for these people instead o everything everywhere at once and "every idea must be used" tossed into a blender. Surface level artsy-fartsy for people who think of themself as "open-minded".
If this game was a person it would be a person that just talks a lot, doesn't bring anything into the end, and is not able to control it's own emotions, just without any consistency or self-control jumps from subject to subject on a whim, while also being addicted to self-adoration and in need of validation. Like a borderline or something. Maybe it actually is a game for borderline or something. For such high prise that this game got it was one of the blandest GAMING experiences, I had in the last few years. If not for the high prise the game it would be 5 not 3. That is all.

Summary The game is a collection of short stories. Each of those stories focuses on the death of a different Finch family member and each is meant to look and feel different from the others, the way no two people in any family are alike. [Giant Sparrow]
