Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is a good action isometric perspective RPG that knows how to take what you need from games like Diablo III or Path of Exile. Its playability is fun and demanding, although it does not escape the sense of repetitiveness inherent in the works of its genre. It highlights the excellent work that has been carried out in the system of skills improvements and levels rise, but it is dazzled by a multiplayer section still pending some improvements in its servers, although it has been on track since its launch. With a new mode at the end of the main campaign, the options for those who wish to stay are endless. Undoubtedly, one of the surprises of this beginning of the year that, will have to do with time if it stays in a “take away” while Diablo IV arrives or manages to keep his community hooked with new content.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem deserves your attention and patience. You can clearly see the passion, commitment and a fresh look on the hack'n'slash genre. Right now the game is a well-made evolution of old ideas but it has a chance to become one of the best if the developers deliver all the promised content. Despite many technical issues, Wolcen is worth your time. The game is simply too much fun.

Wolcen stands firmly on the shoulders of Diablo 3 and does a surprisingly good job of replicating its formula. Forceful combat, interesting ways to develop a character and fancy graphics come together in a decent campaign, even though it feels overly familiar and even a bit unfinished at times: The end game needs more content and variety, the balancing seems a little off and there is a good amount of bugs left in the game. While Path of Exile or Grim Dawn clearly remain the better options right now, there might still be a bright future for Wolcen - if the devs keep on patching things up and adding new content.

Wolcen could have been a contender in the ARPG arena, but it can't get out of it's own way for more than two seconds. Perhaps in time WOLCEN Studio will patch everything up and allow the game to shine as it deserves, but right now the game fights you at every turn. Wolcen is game that is as fun as it is frustrating. I like Wolcen; I simply wish I could love it.

Beautiful and interesting ARPG following the steps of Diablo and Path of Exile, but severely lacking in general polish.

Hack-and-Slay heaven and bug hell: Wolcen be thy name. While the battle system and the visuals lay the foundation for a promising motivation cycle, the enormous amount of bugs as well as annoying gamedesign blemishes keep pushing you away.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is frustrating to play for the majority of its campaign, leaving you with little motivation to dedicate more time to endgame events. There are many technical issues that can be fixed to alleviate some of this frustration, but it's the deeper ingrained problems with difficulty balance and character build viability that keep Wolcen from fulfilling its enticing promise of a free-form ARPG. It has all the elements in place to become another engrossing time sink, but it doesn't execute well enough on any of them to make it worthwhile.

I could appreciate Act 1 in the early access and the game looks really promising.
I set a 10 to bring a little bit of balance here...

So I won't give this game a 0, because it really does have some shining moments.

On the positive side, the game is beautiful. The models are nice, the environments are nice. The skill customization and passive tree are both very promising and I think if this game adds content in the way that something like Path of Exile does, it will be a good game.

On the negative side - holy cow what an absolute dumpster fire this game turned out to be at launch. I will rewrite my review in the future if things change. This game was RUSHED out of beta with what was clearly ZERO testing internally outside of the beta tested items.

The game is OOZING bugs. There are bugs that cause your stash items to disappear, your dyes and transmogs to disapear, bugs that were known in beta that let people dupe items and gold (that the devs have now threatened to ban for), half the passive tree literally doesn't work, ailments are broken (besides rend), there are nodes on the passive tree that give 100x the bonus they are supposed to, the server was down for literally 2 days after less than a day at launch, monsters dont spawn in act 3 half the time and if they do they just stand still, side zones requiring you to kill monsters but not enough spawn to get the rewards, spells do not scale into endgame at all, the game feels clunky, input commands aren't registered, potions do not get used half the time you try and use them, the game wont let you rearrange your items sometimes, it takes several clicks to sell an item sometimes, the stat screen gets completely bugged out sometimes, the list is JUST TOO long.

Do not buy this dumpster fire AT LEAST until the devs have done their job and release an actual playable release version.

Game is done in corridors, you can't refight any of the bosses or minibosses for loot, and levels feel very small.

Lots of abilities are buggy or downright don't work, it's also normal to simply lose all progression because of corrupt saves. This game should still be in alpha.
