There is a lot of challenge that lies ahead in X-Morph: Defense. Levels range in difficulty from easy to downright frustrating. But making tweaks to your game plan and coming back with a stubborn attitude will most times leave you triumphant in your battle. If you love shmups and tower defense games and are looking for a game to keep returning to, there’s a globe filled with humans that needs conquering. Be ready, though — world domination won’t just be handed to you.
X-Morph: Defense is a terrific pick up for someone who enjoys twin-stick shoot-‘em-ups but is looking for some more variety other than just blasting everything on screen. The tactical strategy required to complete levels added solid replayability and allowed me to try multiple ways to creatively destroy the human race. Other than the piercing guilt of destroying my homeland of Canada, I had a really fun experience with X-Morph and can place it firmly on my recommended list.
Well, it was the first tower defense I ever play and I have a very good experience. The mechanics are interesting and the game, at least with the DLC´s have a interesting grade of replay-ably. I recommend it.
Great game for nintendo switch. I believe that this genre of "tower defense" is dying, but this game gives hope. Very interesting combat system with very good graphics. I consider this one of the best games in the portable. Stable FPS, a beautiful picture - what else you need for happiness) Good game, recommend it.
X-Morph: Defense is a fun and addictive effort that combines elements of action games with those of tower defense titles to deliver a work that will keep players mired in its delightful details for a long time, whether for its gorgeous visuals, absurd humour and well implemented, if simple gameplay mechanics.
Folks who like tower defense and twin-stick shooters should enjoy X-Morph: Defense on the Nintendo Switch. The experience offers up a ton of variety and the replayability factor is high. Not to mention the level of planning and strategy required only adds to the enjoyment. And well playing as the bad guy’s rock.
There’s plenty of fun in all the chaos, but it is, perhaps, a little too much going on at once. There’s quite a steep learning curve to this mix of genres and it’s more free-form and loose than other tower defense games, lacking the chess-like satisfaction of rigid grid-based maps. The story is minimal, merely a framework for the action, but the game looks great and runs smoothly on the Switch. It’s certainly solid enough to entertain for a good few hours.
X-Morph: Defense is more fun than it probably has a right to be and worth the investment for those even slightly interested in tower defense and twin-stick shooters. The Switch version isn't the superior port but really only suffers from some minor control annoyances.
With little replay value incentives and a campaign that lacks the qualities which make for a compelling experience, it is very hard to recommend this game even with its lower price tag.
Great tower defense. It doesn't need to rely on story because the gameplay is satisfying, as well as the feeling that you are a band of decepticons destroying and conquering earth. Believable graphics and great performance.
Loved this game, and that's coming from someone thoroughly bored of other tower defense games. My favourite part, and what initially sold me on the game: destructible terrain! Can lag a tiny bit when playing survival mode and the screen fills with enemies, but that doesn't ruin anything. This game looks great, runs great, and is just plain fun, allowing you to use your reflexes but also creative thinking to optimize enemy routes and squeeze the most out of your towers.
This game goes on sale regularly, highly recommend you get the complete edition as the base game feels pretty easy on Normal by the end, and the DLC levels add some new unit types that make you react differently.
Great game! Had a great time playing. Play on easy mode first so you get the hang of the mechanics and the upgrades. Controls work fine. Love this kind of strategic games. The DLC’s are a good addition to the story.
SummaryUnique fusion of a top-down shooter and tower-defense strategy. You are the invader. Use destructive weapons or lead you enemies into a maze of towers. Strategize in the build mode by carefully selecting various types of alien towers or throw yourself right into the heat of the battle.
