Dec 19, 2016After years of absence, Pendulo managed to take the good ideas of the average first game and create an exciting, dark mystery that not only answers all the past answers but surpasses the previous Yesterday game in every single aspect of its design. It reminded us how true sequels should be made.

Nov 28, 2016A story full of suspense and black humor, besides intriguing enigmas, is what allows Yesterday Origins to be one of the best "point & click" adventure of the year.
-
Nov 14, 2016Even with a four-year delay, the story of John Yesterday is finally completed the way it deserved. I do not have the slightest hesitation to admit that, after the arrival of "Origins", the “Yesterday” series is the best and most interesting adventure game that the Spanish developers have given us so far in their twelve-year presence.
-
Dec 13, 2016Yesterday Origins is straight up a point-and-click game as they come, bringing all the things from the old days of the genre and does nothing drastic to change from the norm. It might be a short trek for an adventure game, lasting around 6 hours, but what is here is a fascinating tale that manages to do flashbacks in a way to compliment the story its telling. It certainly won’t be looked upon as a classic – it has some issues with its gameplay – but its style, narrative and characters make it a good, enjoyable time for fans of the genre who can look past some of the annoyances that they are most likely used to.

Jan 23, 2017A disappointing present-day storyline infringes upon the dark historical tale of Yesterday Origins, but outstanding production quality, nonstop quests, and a few spirited acts go a long way towards saving the day.

Dec 8, 2016Luckily, while I didn’t enjoy Yesterday Origins for most of the time that I played it, the ending was clever and worked pretty well, and that saved the game for me. Still, I can’t overlook ten bad hours for one good one. The story is dull and does little to establish an emotional connection, I didn’t like any of the characters involved, and the puzzles are at best workmanlike. If you were a fan of Yesterday, then Yesterday Origins might be a worthwhile purchase for you, but otherwise you’re better off looking elsewhere.

Game World Navigator MagazineDec 19, 2016“Yesterday” already showed in broad strokes how John has gained his immortality. Evidently, Pendulo decided that it wasn’t enough; so Origins explains in painstaking detail how exactly that happened. Fans of Spanish studio will probably enjoy it, but everyone else really should ask themselves if they want to make that close of an acquaintance with John Yesterday. [Issue#215, p.72]
