I have to say that I am actually pleasantly surprised by the game and could not be more happy with the purchase. In a nutshell, the game is a combination dungeon crawler and top down shooter. You crawl through maps, shooting down enemies and shooting open crates to earn XP, weapons, cash, and other pickups. Between each map, you can allocate skill points to one of four skills and use money to purchase weapons/ammo or to upgrade your weapons for more power. (If not purchased, some weapons can be found by exploring.) The game is extremely easy at first, as the zombies just stumble around slowly in small numbers. But the more you progress, you start to encounter mega-zombies with laser guns and rocket launchers, not to mention that the zombie numbers increase drastically. If you're not careful or properly equipped, it soon becomes easy to get yourself into a zombie rape situation. Fortunately, there are several different ways to save yourself from the game over screen. I am rating the game down a point because it's true that the enemies are not particularly interesting in their behavior. In fact, they are often glitchy, getting stuck on walls (as will you), standing in one place and spinning in a circle, sudden bursts of incredible speed for no apparent reason, etc. But despite those glitches, I don't feel like my game experience was much less fun as a result. If you're looking for a complex action game or deep gunplay, then you will possibly be disappointed in Zombie Shooter. If you are looking for a simple dungeon crawler where you control your character with WASD, shoot zombies by pointing your mouse at them, and pick up lots of loot and XP, then Zombie Shooter might just give you a thrill. If like me you get a special thrill out of old school graphics, then the thrills are even more likely. If you have a destructive personality and like a game where almost everything explodes or breaks when shot and where enemies burst open and spew their blood and guts all over the floor, wall, and surrounding objects, then there are even more thrills to be had! I personally think it's not a bad game for $5. But if you catch it on sale for any less than that, there is no excuse not to pick it up. Also note that there is a demo if you want to give it a try before you buy. Expand

TheZombie Shooter is a top-down isomorphic shooter where you gun down hundreds of zombies while making your way through a maze-like level. The concept of the game is simple enough, and I've seen it work just like this in a bunch of Flash games: kill things, get money, buy weapons, kill more things.

The problem is that the design of this game is very sloppy. The level design is poor: things often get obscured by the walls, I got stuck in the geometry (surprising for a 2D game), and many other minor annoyances. There's no tutorial, and this game probably could have used one.

The art and music work, but they're nothing special. The constant clinging of shells hitting the ground gets old.

Zombie Shooter's fun as a quick diversion, but it's definitely not the best way to spend $5. Might be worth picking up on sale if you see it for a dollar.

Is it possible to have too many zombies? I think this game may be pushing the limit! This is an insanely fun and addicting shooter. YourIs it possible to have too many zombies? I think this game may be pushing the limit! This is an insanely fun and addicting shooter. Your screen will literally turn red from all the zombies you kill. Decent selection of devastating weapons with levelling up features on both your weapons and your character. The graphics are the biggest weakness and the camera angle sucks in certain spots, but the non-stop action keeps you too busy to notice. If this game was co-op, it would be off the hook. Alien Swarm should take some pointers from this game about how to put fun into killing zombies. Expand

Level designs are simple as are objectives. Go to the end of the map (while killing hundreds of zombies push one button and go back (while killing even more zombies )

Overall is quite fun and relaxing game that you can beat in about 2-3 hours.

It could easily have been a DOS game from the mid 90s, but it was actually released in 2007. With that said, it is an enjoyable DOS game from the mid 90s. The level design is basic, linear, and straightforward. Animations are the bare minimum that one could expect from an average game from that era. Each mission involves doing very similar actions, like reaching certain specific areas of the map a couple times in order to proceed. There are several items and upgrades that could be purchased between each level, as well as upgrading skills from your character, which makes for an interesting and fun addition to the upfront running and shooting. The AI has very serious problems, and at times you may use this to your advantage. Zombies will often get stuck behind walls or other objects, and many times they will also spin in place and not move, without doing anything else. Besides the campaign, there are two additional game modes, but they are much less interesting and do not provide for a true extension of replay ability. Zombie Shooter is a short and basic game, with very simple game play mechanics. It is plagued by severe AI path finding issues as well as general AI problems. There are also various bugs throughout the game, and the final boss is not challenging at all, in comparison to the massive groups of non-boss zombies that will come at you almost non-stop. Also, the small amount of text found in Zombie Shooter has some grammar errors. There is very little variety to be found in Zombie Shooter, and the short lived amount of game play will not keep you very interested, and it will not last long. For an unintentional DOS game from the mid 90s, this is a small gaming distraction amidst the abundance of better, more polished games out there. It took me about 2 hours to complete. Expand
