    This game was very well designed. The story was compelling and I enjoyed playing this game. The best game on the PlayStation 2 in my opinion. The sound effects were awesome, the different fights were designed masterfully and always kept me guessing. Overall, had a good time.

    Best PS2 game and best God of war in the serie. Period. Everything is perfect : The controls, the boss fights, the skills, the graphics ...

    God of War II took action/adventure games to a brand new level by introducing more immerive gameplay, new powers, titan mode and some smart ass challenges. the game had a mild shiny tone in graphics which felt pleasing. longer to complete and some grappling's which are purely based on timings. the combat system and leveling up system is improved in GOW 2. truthfully the hardest game toGod of War II took action/adventure games to a brand new level by introducing more immerive gameplay, new powers, titan mode and some smart ass challenges. the game had a mild shiny tone in graphics which felt pleasing. longer to complete and some grappling's which are purely based on timings. the combat system and leveling up system is improved in GOW 2. truthfully the hardest game to complete in titan mode challenges i just love e'm :'D… Expand

    Graphics are ok but found too much physical labor (beating up your controller) to fight bosses. Redundancies throughout game play. Fighting colossus beginning was the best part....

    God Of War 2 is an excellent sequel to an already damn good game. The graphics and cut scenes look amazing for it's time. The combat is fast, fluent and responsive. The story is interesting and compelling, setting the stage for GOW3. The boss fights are spectacular. God Of War 2 is an excellent Hack'n'Slash title that even rivals Devil May Cry 3.

    Well, This game is good in terms of many things.

    This game does not making you push through enemies when solving the puzzles. Yes, there are some enemies that appearing after making some things, but there just cosmetic. they even not posing threat to any player. They just give you a little relax moment after some hard fighting against any enemy you've had previously. It has 3    Well, This game is good in terms of many things.

    This game does not making you push through enemies when solving the puzzles. Yes, there are some enemies that appearing after making some things, but there just cosmetic. they even not posing threat to any player. They just give you a little relax moment after some hard fighting against any enemy you've had previously.

    It has 3 sub-weapons, more useful magic (In previous GoW the magic were abit not needed to complete the game but, it's fun to actually stone enemies and then calling the Souls of Hades to hit them) and well, more more enemies.

    As how i've seen, the game only give you fun when you are on Hard or Titan difficulty. Yet, the Titan just beat you even you are ready for it. Just because on the Titan some places of the game (literally, in early game) gives you ''FATAL'' blow, where you can't do something about it. And that's where the ''fun'' of the developer lies, or simply ''Crying, Pain, Angry''. Well, to truly say, Titan difficulty is not recommended for those who haven't yet mastered Hard difficulty.

    The good feature ''Bonus Play'' gives you just the thing to rip-off your enemies with Blade of Olympus, or even any other Sub-weapon in pack, not to mention founded urns, which you can use to really make this game everywhere ''just for lulz''. Want stone enemy in air? Give yourself Urn#2! Want to use cheesy Poseidon's Rage magic? Fine, beat the challenges with high rating to get Urn#6! Want a new challenge? collect all eye's of cyclopi to unlock the General Kratos skin and play with it on Titan!

    Sub-weapons can make some playing really cool. Well, maybe they are not detailed like the Blades, but
    they can give Blue orbs/Yellow orbs after you killed an enemy with the sub-weapon activated!

    Want even more? You have an arena to play, good place to practice against any enemies you've had in the story.

    And even more interesting and more nice lulz are extracted from the glitches, which is like: Swimming Glitch, Long Jump, High Jump etc.
    Glitches can make you play the game more more discovering many things to do.

    GoW II is just the game where you can break it, and extract the most of possible fun you will have, than any game would. Even more: GoW III/ GoW can do it too!

    In attempt to marathon GOW and GOW2 in preparation for GOW3, I played this game and finished it in 2 very long sittings only separated by sleep and some food. I will never forget that session. The game gripped me from the beginning since it continues directly from the first one. Amazing weapons and upgrades. Gameplay is solid and also some tricky puzzles and gory finishers.     Sinceramente uno de los mejores juegos de ps2 que he jugado en mi vida, para ser del año 2007 y de ps2 es buenisimo gráficamente hablando, en cuanto a mecanicas es buenisimo, creo que un juego adelantado para su epoca, tiene boss battles espectaculares. Si no lo has jugado lo recomiendo 10/10

Of course the best days of the PS2 were almost over in 2007, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a great game. I think it's the best action game of the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation.     The sequel is a true winner with awesome combat style, stimulating graphics, and an impressive storyline. The Gods of Olympus may have betrayed Kratos, but the Gods of this action packed sequel will be forever honored.

    This is what a sequel should be, bigger and better than the original in every way possible, the set pieces are epic, the story is interesting, the combat is once again flawless, the boss fights are more epic in scale, and the graphics are AMAZING!!! I'm amazed the PS2 is capable of these amazing visuals, the sound is just as good as the original, this game once again makes you feel like aThis is what a sequel should be, bigger and better than the original in every way possible, the set pieces are epic, the story is interesting, the combat is once again flawless, the boss fights are more epic in scale, and the graphics are AMAZING!!!     I played it once and I played it again untill the end... But God of War 2 in my honest opinion, despite having a great art design and sound track, it's a game that cleary relies more in flashy moves, blood and gore resulting in a game full of show but lacking of substance.

I found that God of War 2 had far too many obscure puzzles, and at some points even on normal difficulty was frustrating enough to throw your controller across the room. I got almost to the end, where you climb a rope across lava and the bad guys shoot it down. then Let me start by saying that I LOVED the original. Every bit, and I didnt even have to check the internet once to get a clue. I found that God of War 2 had far too many obscure puzzles, and at some points even on normal difficulty was frustrating enough to throw your controller across the room. I got almost to the end, where you climb a rope across lava and the bad guys shoot it down. then you climb up and have to fight about 10 medusas in a row( I should mention you have already used all of your magic in the previous endeavor, the rotating spike wheel while guys are trying to kill you.) All in all, the god of war series is awesome but I felt that the last half of this one was just too hard for people who arent necessarily video game freaks.… Expand

But GOW II goes a step ahead. Same moves. Graphics are better. More ripping off of poor games like Legacy Of Kain. The Box Puzzle especially TICKED me off as it was a straight lift from their previous game. Horrible Game.     This is a good game. I dont think it is a "94!" style game even if its on a old playstation. The combat is really fun but not really that deep...I dont know why poeple think its so deep and are amazed by it...Kotos can bust some sweet combos and is as smooth as anytrhing, but in the middle of some of the more pwerful combos you can't even stop to block. I beat it in Titan mode and only had i a couple of times not slamed down my controller and curse the develpors before shuting off my playstation in rage. A normal gamer would never go through that and even when you do, the unlockables are NOT that great. some arena style foolishness and costumes that should have been unlocked during the first run through......If it wasnt for having the normal mode i would give them game a flat 0 becasue NO game (No matter how great of story---which isnt all that great in this) should force you to go through outragous differcullies. I found myself dieing atleast 10 times by 3 bats at first! thats just stuipid. just casue you can make it that hard does not make a good fu$kin idea. The develpors really just prarade off the myths when ever they like. The story does suck. I'm sorry. It just places a bunch of myth creatures around and makes up whatever damn story they wish with just alittle sparkle of true folk lure...I'm not saying poeple wont love this game, but i think this is way too overated and i dont think i ever said that about any game other than that new Final Fantsay...............How about Krotos? yeah hes cool "I am the God of war" Over and over again. I do dig him on being a cool badass, but thats all....I dont care about him and its hard to..he's an a$$hole! A complete Di(k head. Not that he needs to be loving, but he waaaaaaaayyyyy over board. The actor just plays his same notes over and over again being 'mean' and 'tough' But at the end of the day you can only take so much of that foolishness. The female narrator was brillant. In both games she has kept the soul in the story. Without her it would turly fall into way too melodramaic nonsense. Like i said before, I dont know what poeple are thinking, maybe they just feel they need to becasue of the critics. Yet on the other hand, its the most brutal and insane killing game i ever seen...kudos for that becasue everything else is a mess (not technacally mind you, but story wise and the so called best combat.) P.S any one that thinks this is the best adventure game ever is a true jack-a$$ like ING. Zelda for the Wii is 20 times better and it isnt even the best adventure game.... (How can this game even compete with Oblivion? altought its on a very old console it doesnt mean it desreves to be a BEST adventrue ever ranking) I would have payed 20$ for this, but not $67!… Expand

    This game is truly a great game. The Puzzles are a bit annoying but in all its a great puzzle experience. The combat on the other hand is outradeous i love the cenematic gameplay it produces and the boss fights are crazy. A ten all the way.

Enemies spawn around you and beat you while youre trying to push the motherfucking block. You slide two steps back. Puzzles are unbelievebaly annoying, enemies spawn around you constantly when you trie to accomplish something. You know the kind: You take one step forward pushing a block. I am fed up (Tiger Woods '0whateva, FF Whateva, SOCOM'onthiz already)... I am forever cynical, an admitted Critacaholic-born & raised sarcastic, prick, New Yawker.... But....     While GamesTM have sold out to the mighty pound signs, Edge keep their reviews real and to be brutally honest this game is shite! Not Americas most wanted territory, but after the initial qualities the game throws at you its plain downhill after that. Seriously gameplay has moved on from this dog turd, pity Sony haven't realised it!

    Better than the original! and that's saying a lot! My only problems are the enemy AI and combat system, like the first game, they can be pretty simple and not too challenging on the normal difficulty. Sony should take a cue from the Devil May Cry games if it wants to improve the enemy AI. Nontheless, I love this even more than DMC!

    Just played through this game, and it is more amazing than the first, more memorable moments, more huge combos, more great boss battles, and overall an amazing game. Quite possibly the greatest action game I have ever played, I get goosebumps thinking about some of the moments in the game, it's just that great.     I just finished the game today, and not a moment of the game could slow down the incredible feeling of excitement this game gives you. It may very well be the greatest game I've ever played. The story is great, the action is perfect, and the puzzles will keep you thinking the whole way through. If you own a PS2 and don't buy this game, then shame on you.

    Kind of like the first one, however, you might be forgetting that the first one was one of the greatest games ever. Plus in this one you have a better storyline and more combos. The PS2 could be going down with its greatest game ever.

    This is the best game I've EVER played.actually I think it's literally legendary!the puzzles,the combat system,the graphics,everything would get you attached to your seat playing from the first to the last moment of the game,I don't think it deserves anything less than a perfect 10!!

    First off God of War 2 is way too short. the game takes about 8 hours to beat and is fun for the first 30 minutes. The game centers around Kratos the new god of war and his revenge plan to kill Zeus because he got tricked. Kratos is a moron because the gods are his family so he ends up killing his whole family again.     this is the best episode of the series god of war.Kratos back again with new powers such as golden fleece, amulet of moires and many other powers, but I regret that the enchainnement stops pas.ce which is extraordinary is the logical continuation of that God of War I ends with the death of Ares.il are also new powers and it is still good for fuchi terrace Giants. it deserves a 10/10.

    The puzzles weren't difficult in design, but with no camera control and some puzzles requiring solving while you are getting hit by enemies-it becomes a real slog. There's also a really poorly implemented mechanic where you are turned to stone by Gorgon's. If, by chance, this happens in the air mid jump you shatter instantly. Really a frustrating way to have to repeat a section.

    This game is a product of a time where games were meant to be frustrating with very little story. We'll see if I can still stick with the series!    … Expand

    GOD of war 2 trumps the original in every way possible, the combat system which i thought was lacking in the first is much better in 2. the story is fat more epic and the set pieces rival anything the ps3 has to offer... get this game... Sony have done a outstanding job congrats.

Still a linear action game, not truly an adventure game like Castlevania/Metroid. You can fully power up weapons which was a problem in the first game.     This is quite easily one of the best games I have EVER played. It one ups the first one by a factor of ten, it has better cut scenes, better acting, better story, better action sequences, puzzles, etc. The graphics look better than most next gen games I have seen. This is worth buying a component video cable for. In fact, it's a must for the game. You will not be disappointed.

The voice acting for Kratos is spot on. I would have given it a 10...but the graphics are starting to show their age.     I was extremely scared to play this game (b/c I had no idea how the hell they would top the 1st one) but they did the job and made one of the best games ever!     Just like the one before it, this game is seriously twisted and beautiful to watch. I felt like I was watching a movie that had me on the edge of the couch for hours. Wish I could have played it on a big screen.

    Wow. It's almost three years into the xbox 360 and two years for the ps3 and wii, all of which I own. And now, I've just got around to playing god of war 2 for the ps2. And I'm blown away. THe graphics are good enough (amazing for the ps2), that they don't get blown away by the newer generation machines. (Obviously, not as good, but still a beautiful game.) But theWow.     Best game I ever played on the PS2 -the graphics and sound design are such high quality, it sometimes seems its being played on a PS3. The way the viewpoint changes is really cinematic, and I think the difficulty levels in normal mode are just right. Great tribute to Greek Mythology. Excellent game.

Get it for everything but graphics and there's no possible way you won't be impressed. It does look good enough though that it gives you an idea of how much graphical ass the third one kick on PS3.     This game is amazing. If you liked Lord of The Rings, or Prince of Persia, this game combines their styles and is better than both. FINALLY, someone figured out how to do proper 3rd person controls fo the PS2. This game completely restores faith to the console platform for even the most hardcore PC gamers.

    Absolutely awesome. Cinematics are near high def, the controls are tight and responsive. This game even looks great on the PS3 console. Everything looks and works the way a video game should. The storyline will keep you captivated. The only down side I can think of is that there is sometimes a black out delay going between gameplay and cut scenes which is kind of irritating especially Absolutely awesome.     SCEA missed the boat on this one. First of all, a lot of Greek mythology is about seafaring. The GOW1 started off on creaky ships with hydras out at sea, which set the ambiance. GOW2, not so much except for one token sea creature (you fight on land)! Also, the music was too generically epic. I missed the simple lyre tunes from GOW1 that seem much more appropriate to 1000BC.     Hands down a great send off to the PS2. Fantastic Story, Great Graphics and amazing score. If you are one of those who like to beat games in less then 10 hours(straight) Get a life. You want to enjoy this game as much as you can before it ends and we begin the wait for Kratos to grace the next Gen.

    Wow!! Impressive, it´s a must have. Sincerely is a 9.5, the graphics, the action, cinematics, are great. Hoping this quality games move the ground to the next gen systems. Forget any PS3 trash games, this is one of the best action / adventure games ever made, period. A great goodbye PS2 game.

This game feels more like an expansion, but I suppose that is to be expected given that God of War 1 pressed the limits of the PS2. For instance, you have to break this pillar to create a bridge, but how do you know you can do that when all the other pillars are indestructible?     GOW2 deserves a 10: -Graphics: it's better looking than any game on the PS2, and even looks better than a few games on the PS3. In terms of lighting, framerate, character models and movements, it's, for lack of a better word: brilliant. Just look at the scene where he's riding the Pegasus to the Island of the Fates and when he kills those gryphons. -Music: is thrilling, a GOW2 deserves a 10: -Graphics: it's better looking than any game on the PS2, and even looks better than a few games on the PS3. In terms of lighting, framerate, character models and movements, it's, for lack of a better word: brilliant. Just look at the scene where he's riding the Pegasus to the Island of the Fates and when he kills those gryphons. -Music: is thrilling, a sweeping epic score that puts most movies to shame. -Voice Acting: is great and doesn't sound forced (as in, the script writers aren't trying to be overly clever or archaic, which would make the voice acting sound silly). -Story: starts off with a bang and ends with a louder bang. This isn't like the first GOW where we have a long, drawn out story of Kratos' past. Rather, it's all about his present anger and thirst for vengence. Also, the use of Greek myth (for those who like this stuff like me) is a bonus, because you'll meet a lot of familiar characters, monsters and get to see a lot of familiar places. -Pacing/Puzzles: never gets bogged down and there's a fair bit of puzzle play thrown in to balance things out. -Gameplay Mechanics: GOW2 has the single best battle system of any game ever created. It's lightning fast and there's so many different moves and weapons which allow for great variety. If you think it's an easy game, that's because you haven't tried it on the more difficult modes. -The Golden Fleece power-up enhances the experience by giving you awesome counter-attacks, which also boosts the frenzied pace of the gameplay because you need to keep countering on the higher difficulty levels (I started the game on hard difficulty, and when fighting bosses I had to keep counter-attacking to survive). -Bosses: the scope of the boss battles is HUGE! I couldn't wait to encounter each new boss because they made it just that fun, from Theseus to the Barbarian King to the end bosses. And the way Kratos kills them all brings a tear of insanity to my eyes. -Trust me fellow gamers who haven't yet made this purchase: forget what everyone's saying (including me) and just go out and buy this game. You can rent it first, but that'll be a waste of money since you'll soon buy it anyway. -One of the top console games of all time.… Expand

    There are a few brilliant core improvements, such as the beautifully implemented grappling system that lets you swing around with your blades. But for the most part, the game's best features are context-specific things rather than features that change or improve the title as a whole...A stellar example of what can be done when a developer focuses on telling a story and lets that drive the game.
