Never before has a sports game improved so much and added so many new features in a single season. It may not be the league-leader in every category, but excellent performances across the board make it the best baseball game of the year. [May 2004, p.86]
  2. In last year's title, aiming your swing was almost irrelevant unless you wanted to hit the ball to one direction or the other. This time around, it is crucial to know where you'll point the left analog stick.
  3. Solid in every department, this one will be hard to top simply for the fact that it has very few weaknesses. While other entries might feature better stat-tracking or deeper Dynasty modes, they’ll be hard-pressed to be as well-rounded as MVP.
  4. 90
If there's one department in which MVP can't be beat, it's player animations. From the plate to the mound and out into center, these guys move with a jaw-dropping grace and fluidity.
  5. 90
Nearly everything about the new MVP, from basic gameplay to the advanced Dynasty mode, oozes quality.
  6. The combination of graphics and intuitive gameplay make this game a success.

The left handed hitter bug and the player progression bug affect both the game dynamics and the franchise mode’s lasting value respectively.

With intuitive gameplay, a high level of player and team customization, in-depth game modes, and more, this game pulls you in and allows for endless hours of fun. This was truly an instance where EA shined, and baseball games have never come close to living up to the standard of the MVP series. I can only hope for the series' return, though I do not expect it to happen. Expand
