If party games are your thing and you love the One Piece series, Pirates' Carnival will satisfy your craving for a multiplayer board game.
-
With more polish and a wider variety of mini-games, One Piece would make an excellent addition to any party. Unfortunately, it falls just too short of its mark to appeal to any but the most die-hard of One Piece fans.
-
Kids probably won't mind much, and they're definitely the target audience here. Pirates' Carnival isn't spectacular in any one sense, but the solid mini-games and well-used license are enough to put it near the top of the distinctly uncompetitive party game genre.
-
The gameplay is absolutely textbook in its design, and while a few of the games can be pretty entertaining, the sheer amount of variety is far too small.
-
One Piece: Pirates Carnival is nothing short of a poorly done Mario Party remake.
-
Game InformerI want to preface my statements that way, so that when I tell you how awful Pirate's Carnival is , maybe, just maybe, you'll believe me. [Sept. 2006, p.92]
-
Most of the mini-games are either boring or poorly controlled, and there's so few of them that they all get old pretty fast.
