It's as free-form as a game can possibly be while retaining the qualities needed to remain a compelling interactive experience. [May 2003, p.64]
I would not call Primal an innovative title, but it has lots to do and TONS of different powers, which the game doles out just about when you start wanting something new.

Je trouve que Primal est un jeu très peu connu est c'est vraiment dommage, c'est un jeu vraiment complet avec une bonne histoire, une bonne diversification au niveau des 4 mondes avec chacune authentiques, Solum, Aquis, Aetha et Volca sont vraiment des mondes à visiter sans hésitation ! Eh oui je suis fan comme peut en témoigner mon pseudo ;) je pourrais en parler pendant des heures mais le mieux pour se faire son avis c'est d'y jouer, alors foncez tête baisser et vous ne serez pas déçus !

With an amazingly written intriguing story, primal provides sublime voice acting, a marvelous soundtrack, graphically impressive beautifully fleshed out worlds, a dynamic cast and a killer bad-ass protagonist. The world is divided into four realms, each with their own beautiful and melancholy atmosphere. Though the combat isn’t necessarily groundbreaking, it does serve its purpose and made use of the then new ps2 sensitive touch feature. Even though Primal does have somewhat of a cult following today it is still one of the most criminally underrated and underplayed games of all time and if you like things that are beautiful yet grim and intriguing deserves your attention

While the visuals and sound are top-notch, combat is seen more as an annoying distraction rather than an enjoyable experience.
While the story is extremely deep, Primal plays like a button masher.
Doesn't hold up in the areas that count the most: Its combat is mindlessly repetitive, its puzzles aren't very inventive, and there are often long, boring stretches between the action. [May 2003, p.126]
To get any satisfaction from Primal takes a great deal of effort and compassion, and this price will be too high for some of us.
It's sad. It boggles the mind to think that this much time was spent on presentation and backstory when none of it resonates in the slightest.
Люблю эту игрушку, так как из-за неё я и полюбил нарративные игрушки. Довольно атмосферная игруля с интересным сюжетом и увлекательным геймплеем, хоть на первый раз он может показаться обыденным. Боёвка не динамичная, что не привычно конечно, но ощущается приятно, особенно под саундтрек с альтернативным металлом. Для 2003го года графон хороший, поиграть в такое не стыдно. Очень радуют локации, завораживающие и разнообразные. Мы путешествуем по астральным мирам, каждый из которых неплохо продуман. Готический стиль, интересный сюжет, необычная геймплейная динамика, очень крутой саундтрек, отличный визуал. Если твои вкусы с моими совпадают, то игрушка зайдёт! Если завалялась старушка PS2, то попробуй обязательно!

A great forgotten PS2 gem. This game is now on the playstation store in USA for 9.99 as a ps2 classic. Good choice, and its been rated 33 times on there so far, with still a 5.00. This games second chance, is really looking up. If a sequel is made, everyones happy.

Great characters and story , but the game is boring.. Full of idiotic puzzles and mindless wandering, tring to figure out wtf to **** was advertised as a badarse hack and slash beat em up.. But it not that at all.
