Combined Assault isn’t a major leap forward for the series but this is still one of the most addictively fun military shooters available on the PS2.
-
It focuses on creating a lengthy and engaging campaign that works great as a single-player experience but can also be played cooperatively online. The result is a new SOCOM game that offers great value for returning SEALs and new recruits alike.
-
On what may have been its last foray on the aging PS2, the developers have continuously refined the SOCOM formula, and added fun connectivity with the PSP for good measure.
-
AceGamezI enjoyed quite a few lengthy gaming sessions on this title; the online ranking helps you quickly team up with fellow elite Seals and you can easily while away the hours negotiating the many maps available.
-
Combined Assault feels more like an average expansion pack. The new multiplayer maps are welcome and well designed but there are only 10 of them, making it feel like you're playing SOCOM 3 1/2 instead of the legitimate sequel you paid for. Combined Assault does introduce a 4 player co-op mode into the mix, but why would you opt for that when 32 player matches are going on all around you?
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKStomach-churning graphics and bad AI undermine an otherwise solid tactical shooter. Has "For Hardcore Fans" written all over it. [Apr 2007, p.89]
-
If you already own "SOCOM 3," and you’re really only playing it for the multiplayer stuff, then you can avoid this one and save yourself a few bucks.

AlexO.Nov 5, 2006This game is the best socom so far. It is the next generation of a navy seals game and will live longer than any other socom game there is.
