  1. A lesson in good intentions gone awry. Nearly all of its novel ideas misfire. What's so interesting about Inferno is the mentality that a patch was all that was needed to make a better game. The original was defined by a lackluster story, awkward controls, and merely okay gameplay – that's not a formula that needs a few tweaks, it's one that should be scrapped entirely.

The story was well thought out and the graphics (esp. lighting) are incredible. It also has some original ideas (like the inventory screen and combing items in a new way). The controls on the other hand are terrible. Driving is near impossible and the rest of the game is a chore to get through. Full Review »

I played it long time ago and I can say that is still one of the best survival horror I have ever played. I loved the horror atmosphere, the gameplay and the story.
The puzzles were very contextual and all disseminated in the environment and I believe that that was the best part that made the game innovative. Wherever you went they made you reflect and use your creativity in order to progress in the game or fight enemies. Also you could combine all the items in the inventory and use it strategically.
The only downside was the combat system, ok sometimes it was a bit annoying but that was the only problem. And we also need to consider that in a survival horror a clumsy combat system could be inherent in it and an element that might increase the anxiety. I would understand that that would be a big problem in a action or shooting game where the combat system is pivotal but not in a survival horror.
Anyway I think this game deserved far more recognition and I don’t understand why have never been done video game with the same innovative and amazing gameplay.

The only problems i had were the controls, which i didnt mind and the graphics could have been better and also vehicle control which felt a little akward, but wasnt a huge thing. Other than that, Inferno has some memorable moments and a story which grips you from the start. Well worth a look, if not a purchase. Full Review »
